QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Human life deserves legal protection from conception until natural death.

Strongly Agree

I have been supporting the pro-life movement since I became saved by faith in Jesus in 1989 and went from 'pro-choice' to 'pro-life' overnight at that moment. I received the endorsement of Kansans for Life in this year's (2024) primary election and hope to receive it for the general election as well.

What role should the school serve in helping a student with an unwanted or crisis pregnancy?

The school should be a support to the needs of the student and the family to encourage the student's continued educational success.

ECONOMY

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.

Disagree

Life and liberty are required protections from government and an environment that allows individuals to pursue their own happiness. How much anyone is paid is a private decision between the employer and the employee.

What is your position on government funding of public education from Pre-K through college?

My personal position is irrelevant. While I believe private education provides a better result for less money, the general public has determined that public education is in the public's best interest. To that end, my hope will be to involve parents and teachers to take more control (as would be the case in private education) through informing them and encouraging their increased participation with their local school boards.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

The Ten Commandments should not be displayed in public school buildings or court houses.

Strongly Disagree

At school, students should be able to speak freely and civilly about matters of conscience and faith, including Christianity.

Strongly Agree

Public schools are subject to the Constitution and the protections provided by it.

Teachers should be required to instruct students on mandated curriculum even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Strongly Disagree

NATIONAL SECURITY

Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?

Yes, Gen 12:3

The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.

Strongly Agree

In the hands of a government that seeks peace and freedom.

EDUCATION

I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.

Strongly Agree

Absolutely. How many years of interference and failure does it take before we recognize that the community organized schools of yesteryear provided a much superior education compared to schools run with the federal interference of today?

The state should fund education by allowing dollars to follow the child instead of the bureaucracy, through a program which allows parents the freedom to choose their child's school – public, private, or homeschool.

Neutral

This is a very complex question, and I would encourage everyone to step back and consider the nuances of this question. I am absolutely for (in every way) the money to follow the children in their educations, no matter the source of that education, as long as we all acknowledge and separate out public funds from private funds. While publicly funded education may or may not come with 'strings attached,' as this is determined by the governing tax powers, not so for private (needs protection).

Which type of written parental consent should be obtained before students are taught courses such as Comprehensive Sex Education (CSE)? (A) Opt-In. (B) Opt-Out. (C) None.

I believe the parents should be required to go through the curriculum and then A (opt in) to consent

Abortion and gender-affirming providers, including Planned Parenthood, should be a resource for instruction or services in the school.

Strongly Disagree

If the parents want their counsel for their children, they should seek it themselves.

Please list in order the following priorities in relation to the role of a K-12 public school (omitting any that do not apply): American History, Art & Music, Civics, Critical Race Theory, Foreign Language, Gender Identity, Information Technology, Language Arts, Mathematics, Personal Finances, Physical Fitness, Political Activism, Science, Sexuality, Social Emotional Learning, Vocational Learning

Language Arts, Mathematics (my favorite), American History, Art & Music, Foreign Language, Personal Finances, Science, Civics, Vocational Learning. This is the order of importance also by age appropriateness, in my opinion. Obviously, vocational learning is not less important than music, but it is not really applicable to the K-8 students, while music is relevant to any age.

VALUES

Children have the right to be protected from sexual grooming including drag shows, explicit materials in schools and libraries, and other public venues.

Strongly Agree

While I believe this personally, it is the place of the legislature and judiciary to define rights and (in regards to children) what constitutes neglectful and/or abusive exposure to these things. It's not the business of schools to involve themselves in this or to groom students sexually.

Marriage between one man and one woman and the families they form are the foundation of civilization and are fundamental to the well-being and prosperity of society.

Strongly Agree

Yes. It is a general truth that no one cares about a student more than his or her family.

No healthcare diagnosis or treatment, whether mental, reproductive, or otherwise, should be given to a child without first receiving written consent from the parent.

Strongly Agree

I'll go over step further. The only medical treatment that should happen in the school should be care given by the nurse for illness and/or accidents, for which parents have given advance permissions or for emergency medical treatment above and beyond the skill of the nurse with an ambulance on the way and the family notified.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I was born again on 4 Mar 1989. My life changed in an instant that night. I value children. They are the only eternal thing we bring into this world. No matter your faith, experience, history, whatever, they are a gift to the family that received them and deserve their love, care and protection.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

EQUALITY

I support Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI).

Strongly Disagree

I support the Constitution.

Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.

Strongly Agree

I study DNA and genealogy and respect the science. Boys are boys, and girls are girls.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.

No

Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.

No

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Very Conservative

2ND AMENDMENT

Faculty who are licensed to carry and have had ongoing training should be allowed to carry guns at school in order to respond to an active shooter situation.

Strongly Agree

I support this everywhere, not just the schools.

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

Under what circumstances (if any) should schools be allowed to require vaccinations?

I think the schools set their own policies on this. Some parents want vaccinations, some do not, and others are mixed. I think parents have the right and responsibility to raise their children according to their convictions, and the public education provided them should meet these needs as much as possible.
