QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?

I fully support the Wyoming Republican Platform, including our stance on life: "All individuals are endowed by their Creator from the moment of conception to the moment of natural death with the rights to Life, Liberty, Property, and the Pursuit of Happiness. The only purpose of government is to protect these rights for all." Elective abortions violate the rights of the unborn and as such should not be allowed.

Chemical abortion drugs should meet essential safety standards (such as in-person consultation with a medical doctor) and require reporting to gather evidence on reactions and outcomes.

Strongly Agree

Only if the mother's life is in immediate danger should options be considered for terminating a pregnancy after full consultation with a medical doctor.

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Agree

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Strongly Disagree

Watching how similar laws are playing out in Canada recently where the envelope of acceptable assistance has widened over time has affirmed my stance against this practice.

ECONOMY

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

A healthy Republic / Democracy is impossible without strong private property rights and protections.

What is your position on the minimum wage?

Keep minimum wage as low as possible to maximize entry-level inexperienced workers entering the workforce. As workers mature and gain higher employable skills, they'll naturally advance into higher earning jobs.

Should environmental and social issues, like ESG (environmental, social, and governance) ratings, be used as criteria in deciding where to invest public monies?

No

The ESG push is simply the modern version of the old 1930's Stakeholder Capitalism, aka Social Corporatism. It failed then as it's failing now. Assigning social credit scores to publicly traded companies can lead to violations of antitrust laws such as Blackrock's barring of companies not adhering to ESG standards. People buy stock in companies expecting the stock price to go up. "Go woke - go broke" is real, as Blackrock just found out.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Under what circumstances can government close churches?

None. The 1st Amendment makes this clear on both fronts. The government can't sponsor religion, nor can it prohibit free exercise of religion.

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Neutral

There are exceptions to Title VII that allow small businesses and others to operate outside of these requirements as I understand.

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.

I lean towards option C, but would like to see more open availability / coverage of private health insurance between States to spur more competition. That said, this subject is complicated and deserves in depth review before any kind of change is suggested.

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

The severe abuse mandated across the globe of all things related to covid has dramatically tempered my views. Vaccines should not be mandated while Big Pharma enjoys bullet proof 100% indemnity against any negative repercussions.

NATIONAL SECURITY

The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.

Strongly Agree

Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?

Absolutely critical we maintain a healthy positive relationship with Israel. They are the one lone democracy within the middle east. Efforts to split the US from Israel should be ignored.

IMMIGRATION

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

Anyone should be allowed to immigrate to the US provided it's done legally. Immigration volume should be maintained at levels where those legally coming to the US assimilate into our culture as-is. Immigration should never be allowed to threaten our national sovereignty or who we are culturally.

EDUCATION

The state should fund education by allowing dollars to follow the child through programs which protect parents' freedom to choose their child's school – public, private, or homeschool.

Agree

I agree on the most part. There are some instances when a private/home school may refuse government money to allow their independence on what / how they teach to remain intact.

VALUES

Children have the right to be protected from sexually explicit materials in publicly funded libraries, including school libraries.

Agree

School materials should be restricted similar to the restrictions we have on porn magazines in schools. I believe school boards would be wise to see the fervent pushback from concerned parents across the country and recalibrate what our kids should be learning. I doubt Chinese kids have 'porn-ish' books available, but their math skills are no doubt superior in general too.

Children are the most vulnerable members of society and must be protected from harm, including from gender ideology and bodily mutilation.

Strongly Agree

Autism has exploded over 2600% since I was in school, which directly feeds into struggling kids susceptible to all kinds of various pitfalls. Various drugs administered to treat mental issues are questionable as well. Many kids need real ... real help. The path to gender ideology and bodily mutilation I don't see as offering real help. BTW, who's looking into what's causing this explosion in autism?

Parents should have the right to make decisions for their minor children.

Strongly Agree

Parents first, government resources are for support. That said, we really need to see what can be done to engage the parents more. Especially for those parents who view our school system as more than simply an education system.

Taxpayer funds should be used to provide gender transition services.

Strongly Disagree

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.

Neutral

Any change offered within the Legislature will need to be carefully considered on a bill specific basis, so a quick response here on this topic is going to most likely not cover the complexities in a couple sentences this topic deserves.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

This area is deeply personal for me, so I'm choosing to keep my beliefs private for this setting. Thanks for your understanding.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Neutral

Wyoming election code allows additional identity avenues if a photo ID is not available that has worked well thus far, I believe it's two forms of ID if a photo ID is not available.

States should join the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact which makes the Electoral College irrelevant.

Strongly Disagree

The Electoral College protects small populous States like Wyoming so our voice isn't drowned out by the large cities.

EQUALITY

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

Meriam-Webster defines racism as: "A belief that race is a fundamental determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race". I just don't see enough people who can be classified as 'racist' to pose a significant threat to domestic security.

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Strongly Disagree

The best way to end 'racism' is to stop emphasizing race. We're all Americans.

Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.

Strongly Agree

We have to protect our girls / women, no matter who gets mad or have their feelings hurt.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Which comes closest to your view? (Select all that apply) A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost. C) Stricter environmental laws undermine U.S. energy independence and deter development of reliable electricity sources. D) Climate change is real and requires urgent policy action.

I have 30+ years in oil/gas, drawing experience from all over the world. Evidence of an imminent climate emergency is scarce to non-existent. Fear is used to drive behavior change along with complicated solutions to drive energy prices far higher. Meanwhile, energy demand is booming across the globe. We need cool heads following real science to lead our way through this labyrinth.

What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?

There is no one-best source for energy. Every source has it's pros and cons. Broadening the diversity of sources within the bounds of science, price and dispatchability makes the most sense to me.

ABOUT YOU

Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.

No

Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.

No

What do you think is the general purpose of government?

"... that to secure these (unalienable) rights, Governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed."

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

I'm using the Wyoming Republican Party platform as my home base so folks understand the framework I'm supporting.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

I support redirecting funds from police departments to community programs.

Strongly Disagree

Our Police and Sherriff Depts. need and deserve our full support.

2ND AMENDMENT

Please express your views on the 2nd Amendment.

"The right of individuals to keep and bear Arms and ammunition shall not be infringed, restricted, or denied. Individuals must never be prevented from defending life, liberty, or property." Wyo Republican Platform

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.

Strongly Disagree

This is a grand gateway to community chaos.
