RIGHT TO LIFE
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Strongly Agree
I am proudly pro-life. I believe every human life is precious and deserves protection, dignity, and the opportunity to live. I will stand for the unborn and support policies that protect life while helping mothers and families choose life.
Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?
I believe abortion should not be permitted as an elective procedure. As a conservative and a Catholic, I believe every innocent human life has inherent dignity and deserves protection, including the unborn. There are rare and tragic medical circumstances in which a pregnancy may seriously threaten the life of the mother. In those situations, doctors should be permitted to provide necessary, life-saving medical treatment, even when the unintended consequence may be the loss of a unborn child.
Human life deserves legal protection from conception until natural death.
Strongly Agree
I believe government has a responsibility to protect innocent human life, especially those who cannot protect themselves. I oppose elective abortion and believe our laws should protect unborn children while supporting mothers, families, and communities.
The lives of human embryos created through artificial methods ought to be protected from purposeful destruction.
Agree
I believe the dignity and value of human life do not depend on how a person was conceived, their stage of development, or whether they are wanted. Every human life deserves our protection and respect.
The Comstock Act, which bans interstate transportation of abortion-inducing drugs, should be enforced.
Strongly Agree
I believe our laws should protect human life from conception until natural death and should be enforced consistently. I also believe women facing difficult pregnancies should receive compassionate medical care, support, and alternatives that protect both the mother and her unborn child.
ECONOMY
What is your position on the minimum wage?
I support policies that encourage job creation, economic growth, & opportunities for workers to earn higher wages through skills, education & hard work. mandated increases the minimum wage can increase costs for businesses, and raise prices for all.
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
Government should protect property rights, encourage entrepreneurship, and allow individuals and businesses to succeed through hard work, innovation, and personal responsibility rather than unnecessary government regulation.
List your top 3-5 priorities to eliminate government waste.
Reduce unnecessary government bureaucracy — Streamline agencies, eliminate redundant positions and programs, and require agencies to demonstrate measurable results before receiving continued funding. 2.Require fiscal accountability, Balance responsible budgeting with transparency, establish meaningful spending limits, and make government agencies justify every taxpayer dollar they spend. 3. End taxpayer-funded waste and abuse, strengthen oversight of government contracts, grants & subsidies.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
To me, separation of church and state means government should not establish or control a religion, and it should not interfere with a person's right to practice their faith. It also does not mean people of faith should be excluded from government or public life. Everyone should have the freedom to live according to their beliefs and participate in our democracy.
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Disagree
I oppose requiring individuals or businesses to provide services that directly violate their sincerely held religious or moral beliefs. I believe the government should protect religious freedom and individual conscience while also treating everyone fairly under the law.
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.
I support keeping Medicare and Medicaid for those who qualify, while opposing the expansion of government-funded healthcare programs. I believe healthcare should rely on personal responsibility, private insurance, and competition, with government focused on protecting those who truly need assistance.
The government should keep a database of people with various ongoing medical illnesses to assess the economic burden of treatment.
Disagree
I oppose the government keeping a database of individuals with ongoing medical conditions. Protecting personal medical information and individual privacy is important.
NATIONAL SECURITY
The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.
Strongly Agree
Serving as a United States Marine for 30 years, China poses a serious threat to America through military expansion, cyberattacks, intellectual property theft, economic competition, and efforts to increase its influence around the world. China has strong influence throughout Africa & influence in a number of other countries. It has rapidly increased its military. We must protect our national security, defend American businesses and technology, and hold China accountable.
Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?
Yes. I believe the relationship between the United States and Israel is important because Israel is a strong democratic ally. We share important security interests and a commitment to combating terrorism and protecting freedom. The United States should stand with Israel while always putting American national security and interests first.
IMMIGRATION
I support the existence of sanctuary cities to protect undocumented persons.
Strongly Disagree
I oppose sanctuary cities. I believe our immigration laws should be enforced fairly and consistently, and state and local governments should cooperate with federal immigration authorities. If states and local governments interfere they should be held accountable.
EDUCATION
I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.
Neutral
I am unsure we would get a better result by giving back total control to our States local communities, parents, and school boards. We are not effective teaching our students now. What direction would so school districts move to if there is no control. What would they teach?
Foreign governments should be prohibited from funding American education.
Strongly Agree
Our schools should serve American students and communities, not foreign interests. Education policy and funding should remain under American control and be transparent to taxpayers.
VALUES
Government should recognize and support the fundamental right and essential duty of parents to direct their child's health and educational well-being.
Strongly Agree
I strongly support this. Parents have the primary right and responsibility to guide their children's health, education, and well-being. Government and schools should respect parents' rights and work with them, not replace them, in making decisions about their children.
Attempts to physically or socially transition a child to the opposite sex constitute child abuse.
Strongly Agree
I believe children deserve protection from irreversible medical interventions and social pressures regarding gender. Parents should have the primary role in their child's care, and government should protect children from procedures or treatments they may not be mature enough to fully understand or consent to. This should not be allowed until a child turns 18 or older and they can make that decision.
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.
Strongly Agree
I believe marriage is a God-ordained and sacred union between one man and one woman.
I support the expansion of gambling in my state.
Neutral
Gambling has been in Kansas and has expanded over the years with the lottery, slots in allowed establishments and casinos. Its already here.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a Catholic, I believe in God, the sanctity of human life, personal responsibility, compassion, and treating every person with dignity and respect. I strive to live my faith through service to my family, community, and country. While serving in Iraq I remember that there were no atheist when the Chaplin offered prayers before combat operations.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Agree
Its simple we use photo ID's for a number of things so why wouldn't we use it as a means of identification for elections. I sit on the elections committee for the state of Kansas and its been debated.
EQUALITY
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
Strongly Disagree
We should focus on equal opportunity, personal responsibility, and policies that help all Americans succeed.
Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.
Strongly Agree
I support protecting women’s sports and women’s spaces. Biological sex matters, particularly where privacy, safety, and fairness are involved. Women and girls should have the right to compete, use facilities, and receive services in spaces designed for biological women. Kansas has passed laws addressing both women's sports and sex-separated spaces, although they are separate laws.
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Man-made climate change is a global threat and requires urgent political action.
Disagree
I believe we should be good stewards of our environment, but I do not support government policies that unnecessarily raise energy costs or hurt American families and businesses. We should focus on innovation, conservation, and affordable, reliable American energy rather than costly government mandates.
What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?
I believe America needs reliable, affordable, and abundant energy to meet our growing demand for electricity. Nuclear energy should be a major part of our energy future, along with natural gas, coal, and other domestic energy resources.
ABOUT YOU
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Conservative
I consider myself a conservative, with economic issues being my most important overall priority. I believe in fiscal responsibility, limited government, lower taxes, responsible spending, and policies that encourage private-sector job creation and economic opportunity. Government should live within its means and create an environment where individuals, families, farmers, small businesses, and employers can succeed.
Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.
NO
Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.
No
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
What should be the goal of the criminal justice system?
The goal of the criminal justice system should be to protect law-abiding citizens, hold criminals accountable for their actions, and ensure justice for victims. We should enforce our laws fairly and consistently and offenders should face appropriate consequences when they violate the law. Quit letting criminals off the hook. It doesn't work.
Government has a responsibility to protect children from sexual exploitation during online activities.
Strongly Agree
Protecting children from sexual exploitation should be a fundamental responsibility of government. We must hold those who prey on children accountable, strengthen enforcement against online exploitation, and ensure that technology companies take reasonable steps to protect minors. At the same time, these efforts must respect parental rights, free speech, privacy, and constitutional protections.
Sharia law should not be accepted or incorporated in any form within the legal framework of the United States.
Strongly Agree
The United States Constitution and the laws of the United States must remain the foundation of our legal system. No religious law, including Sharia law, should supersede or be incorporated into our civil or criminal legal framework. Every American has the right to practice his or her faith freely, but our laws must apply equally to everyone under the Constitution.
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
I believe law-abiding citizens have a constitutional right to own and carry firearms. Rather than placing burdens on responsible gun owners, our focus should be on enforcing existing laws and keeping firearms out of the hands of violent criminals and those who are legally prohibited from possessing them. I support stronger penalties for criminals who use firearms to commit crimes.
