QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?

Under no circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed, with the understanding an elective abortion is unrelated to the life and health of the mother.

Chemical abortion drugs should meet essential safety standards (such as in-person consultation with a medical doctor) and require reporting to gather evidence on reactions and outcomes.

Strongly Agree

In severe health and life threatening situations for mother and or child, any drugs should meet essential safety standards in order to potentially alleviate any additional risk to health

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Agree

On the rare occasion when the life and health of the mother is at risk, and the means to pay for medical needs are not possible by the mother, then there may be considerations for a safety net. On the same token, we are discussing grave matters of life and death of a human being, regardless of whether it may the mother or the child.

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Disagree

I support the right of an individual to choose their own medical decisions in terms of care. However, I do not support direct assisted suicide and or euthanasia.

ECONOMY

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

The fact that America strives on free enterprise and entrepreneurship, is in fact the embodiment of not only our economic progress and innovation to date, but also the very fabric of the attitudes of independence of which our Constitution emboldens individual thought, creativity and innovation.

What is your position on the minimum wage?

Everyone should be entitled to a fair wage. However, there could be unintended consequences when government interferes between people of free agency and thought, which is also inclusive of the employer. We also have to consider the employer as well

Should environmental and social issues, like ESG (environmental, social, and governance) ratings, be used as criteria in deciding where to invest public monies?

No

ESG data could be subjective and vary significantly between different agencies. Also, the quality of the ESG data itself may not always be completely reliable nor available. The overall investment return and ESG data is always typically not always not universally agreed upon either. We must also consider overall implementation and administrative cost relative to the return.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Under what circumstances can government close churches?

I believe in the separation of church and state, which is rooted in the First Amendment of the US Constitution. Therefore, by way of freedom of religion, churches should be able to make their own decisions.

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Strongly Disagree

Individuals and businesses have started their businesses to exercise and practice not only their right to free enterprise , but to also establish and grow the business which they feel is best. It is thus, the decision and domain of the business owner to make the decisions which they deem best, as a practice of their personal liberties and rights as entrepreneurs.

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.

I would most likely align myself with Option C. We by al means need to provide essential medical services for those in need but in parallel regulating government further intervention as well as maintaining fiscal responsibility is conducive to creating a balance. Caring for our vulnerable populations who require the necessary and required medical attention and care is our responsibility. Maintaining fiscal responsibility and limiting government and could help to foster private sector options.

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

In the United States, the Supreme Court ruling in Jacobson v. Massachusetts (1905) affirmed the power of states to mandate vaccination laws, in the interests of broad public safety. The imminent threat to public safety must of course be evident

NATIONAL SECURITY

The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.

Agree

I would like to emphasize here that this is true as it relates to the Chinese Community Party and not to people of mainland China as a whole. Many native Chinese and Chinese Americans strongly disagree and oppose policies of the Chinese Community Party. It is important for us to embrace all cultures, ethnicities and backgrounds which share and advocate for our common democratic principles and policies.

Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?

Our relationship with Israel is important because firstly, we exist as strategic, geo political partners as relates to intelligence and defense in the Middle East, from potential threats. e are trade partners, exchanging technology and information, maintaining economic ties. We are also maintain shared democratic values, being partners of law, human rights, and a commitment to democratic governance. Finally, we have strong cultural ties, as the US is representative of our Jewish communities.

IMMIGRATION

The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.

Agree

As the son of Korean immigrants, I am thankful to my country the United States for giving us the opportunity to make our lives here. However, I do believe we can do more to secure the southern border. Firstly, national border laws have been implemented because they could represent national security concerns. Second, there is the question of public safety and health. Next economic regulation is vital and necessary to manage as we prioritize work for our citizens and legal immigrants.

EDUCATION

The state should fund education by allowing dollars to follow the child through programs which protect parents' freedom to choose their child's school – public, private, or homeschool.

Strongly Agree

By doing so will empower parental choice, in terms of parents maintaining educational choice and flexibility. And I believe when parents are empowered, they then too will take greater ownership and more engaged in their child's education. From the school's perspective, this gives them an incentive to enhance accountability as well as innovation and foster these qualities. Schools, faced with the loss of potential students, could be motivated to initiate reform, thus improving overall quality.

VALUES

Children are the most vulnerable members of society and must be protected from abuse, including gender ideology, grooming, and bodily mutilation.

Strongly Agree

Children are vulnerable and typically depend on adults. Hence it is vital to ensure their protection and safeguard them from any potential practices which could harm them physically, emotionally and or mentally, particularly when the proper and adequate expertise may not be present. I believe it is the parents primary responsibility to safeguard their children from practices and beliefs which could prove harmful to the child. Parents maintain the right to guide their children's upbringing

Parents should have the right to make decisions for their minor children.

Strongly Agree

Parents maintain the right to make decisions for their minor children as well as be responsible for their children's overall upbringing and education. In addition, parents should be fully informed and involved in their children's discussions and decisions. Also, there are moral implications and I believe that parents maintain the right to delay certain discussions until it may be more age appropriate. Appropriate age informed consent age is also of utmost importance, in order to validate.

Taxpayer funds should be used to provide gender transition services.

Disagree

Taxpayers hold diverse beliefs. Mandating such services, may conflict with these varied ideals and values. Moreover, more outreaching consensus must be reached before tax dollars are appropriated for same services. Regulatory challenges could arise, including the potential for abuse and fraud of such services with the possibility of funds misuse and oversight. A more holistic approach should be considered as well including addressing the overall mental health and overall well-being .

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.

Strongly Agree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

My father was a pastor and ironically it was because of this, that I actually rejected the existence of God for a good part of my life. I was the rebellious eldest son and Pastor's kid : ) In my adulthood, I went through many ups and downs in my life and although myself and my family went to church all of our lives, serving tirelessly as church volunteers, I realized I was just through the routine because this was the life that grew up with and was accustomed to. All the while, I began to realize that it was not by our works and deeds that God loved us. We could never earn salvation through our deeds. But rather, our salvation is given by the Grace of God purely out of his love for us. And this is why he sent his son to pay for debt

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

We should take all measures to prevent any prospective voter fraud as well as safeguarding ourselves against potential multiple votes. Maintaining accuracy and integrity of the vote is key. Also photo identification aids in assurance of verification of citizenship as well as integrity and accuracy of residency. Photo ID's can also potentially preclude any voter coercion and or intimidation tactics. In addition, ID's helps to promote free and fair elections as well as overall voter integrity.

States should join the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact which makes the Electoral College irrelevant.

Disagree

Preserving the Electoral College is a fundamental tenet of the US Constitution and so therefore should be preserved under the understanding that our government should abide by the Constitution. The Electoral College was implemented to uphold the protection of minority rights and for those in smaller states, as larger communities may weigh an unfair advantage. It also provides a stable and predictable framework from which to determine a voting system which adheres with the Constitution

EQUALITY

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

As a target of direct cultural racism in my youth, I understand first hand how the effects of "being considered an outcast" as an Korean immigrant in this country, can have an effect on a person's self-esteem and overall well-being and self-esteem. Direct and systemic racism is by all means harmful, fostering distrust and division among communities. Racism can incite anger, fear and mistrust which can also lead to and manifest in further division, civil unrest, harm and even violence.

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Agree

As a Korean American immigrant, I maintain the benefit of being bi-cultural. And it is because of this, that I myself can see disparities as it relates to certain constructs in our society, which may be deeply rooted, to create inequalities based on race. By addressing this systemic racism, only then can we begin to make necessary reform to advocate for grater racial equality and ultimately promoting greater equity. Creating balanced and non-biased institutions, should be our common goal.

Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.

Strongly Agree

Biological males are typically more physically adept purely from a scientific standpoint, and hence, this raises the question of fairness as well as a level playing field of sport. Creating an unfair environment in competitive sport then, not only will decrease the overall competitiveness of the sport, but also potentially decrease drive and morale overall. In addition biological males participating in women's sports and sharing the same rooms, creates drangerous safety and privacy concerns.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Which comes closest to your view? (Select all that apply) A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost. C) Stricter environmental laws undermine U.S. energy independence and deter development of reliable electricity sources. D) Climate change is real and requires urgent policy action.

I would most align myself most with option C. We all desire a safe, healthy and habitable planet in which to live and which our next generation can have a home to inherent, live and grow without environmental hazard. However, stricter environmental laws enforced by government could deter continued economic development and thus continued job growth and innovation. It could lead to augmented dependence on foreign energy as well as exacerbate opportunities to develop domestic viable alternatives

What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?

Renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, hydro, and geothermal power have become increasingly popular because they are abundant, sustainable, and their costs have declined steadily. These could potentially become relevant alternative sources

ABOUT YOU

Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.

No.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.

No.

What do you think is the general purpose of government?

The purpose of government is the protection of natural rights of an individual including life, liberty and property. Government exists to protect the public welfare and to provide an environment conducive to the prosperity of society as a whole. Limited government intervention and favoring policies which support entrepreneurship and innovation should be prioritized. Government also exists to ensure law and order, protection of private property, as well as overall fiscal responsibility

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Lean Conservative

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

I support redirecting funds from police departments to community programs.

Disagree

This is under the understanding that budgets for police departments have been allocated for necessary reasons. The reduction in overall police force and public safety personal overall, has led also to a proportionate increase in crime over the years in our area. As law enforcement personal and resources decrease the formula for crime entails a reciprocal increase in kind. Our budgets should not be depleted from our police force if it means an overall reduction in the workforce.

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

I believe in an individual's right to bear arms as per the second amendment. However, I state with the understanding that certain measures are in place to ensure the criteria and minimum qualifications for gun ownership have been adhered to. These minimum requirements include a universal background check which is designed to preclude any unnecessary criminal risk. I believe in a cool off period, in order to potentially preclude any impulsive actions. Also mental health screenings are vital.

Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?

No

Although of course we want to create the safest environment for our children to the best of our ability, I do not believe that this is the answer to alleviate gun violence in schools. This could lead to potentially more fear in schools as well as the possibility for greater violence and or accidents. Teaching teachers to use guns, could also distract their time, focus and attention away from being primary educators, knowing that they may also have a dual duty to protect and shoot if necessary
