QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?

The US Supreme Court returned the matter to the states and their citizens to determine state law in this regard. I've sworn an oath to uphold the constitution. I personally believe that an unborn child has the same right to life as the born. I don't know when God puts the spark that is the soul in us, but I know it was there when my son was born at 28 weeks. I spent weeks in the NICU seeing miracle babies born from 22 weeks and up. We can work to educate people to open their hearts to change.

Chemical abortion drugs should meet essential safety standards (such as in-person consultation with a medical doctor) and require reporting to gather evidence on reactions and outcomes.

Strongly Agree

It should be a prescription. Go see a doctor.

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Agree

Government's primary purpose is public safety. After safety, taxpayer dollars should provide for public infrastructure. Elective abortions are elective. Taxpayer dollars shouldn't pay for providers that provide elective services.

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Strongly Disagree

Who would decide who is worthy of the extra effort and who might be persuaded or encouraged to ask to have their own lives ended. This is a slippery slope that feels like a path Germany traveled down in 1939 and 1940...I point to a passage from Wikipedia on the Nazi "Aktion T4" - Certain German physicians were authorized to select patients "deemed incurably sick, after most critical medical examination" and then administer to them a "mercy death" (Gnadentod).[7]

ECONOMY

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Disagree

Socialism/Communism stifles the motivation to achieve more through individual effort. When everyone is allotted the same rewards for disparate efforts, soon those who excel stop excelling when they observe everyone else get the same for less effort. They lower their output and effort. Everyone lowers output and effort and eventually the system will fail.

iVoterGuide Notes:

After evaluations took place the candidate informed iVoterGuide that the intended answer was STRONGLY AGREE.

What is your position on the minimum wage?

It is intended to establish a minimum value of a person's time no matter how unskilled the task. Artificial elevation helps drive inflation. Minimum wage should be proportionate to the market wages of the higher spectrum work that exists above it.

Should environmental and social issues, like ESG (environmental, social, and governance) ratings, be used as criteria in deciding where to invest public monies?

Choose not to answer

I'm not informed enough in how these ratings are derived nor how they are used by investors to make investment decisions. Are they able to be objectively rated based on measurable criteria or are the subjective to the squishy opinions of the evaluators like the judges of a figure skating competition or "Dancing with the Stars"?

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Under what circumstances can government close churches?

An example might be failure to comply with building codes that endangers the occupants of the building. The church should be closed until the deficiency is fixed and it's safe for people to be in the building. In these circumstances is the church the building or the congregation? I would submit it's the latter and the "church" could gather outdoors or elsewhere. In which case then only when the church is engaged in activity that is against the law.

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Strongly Disagree

Freedom of religion is guaranteed by the constitution. In their exercise of that freedom the market will drive their success or failure as everyone is free to take their business elsewhere.

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.

C - We have Apple Health for those who qualify that don't have access to or can't afford private healthcare options.

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

We have a tried and true series of childhood immunizations that were vetted for many years and virtually eliminated catastrophic transmittable diseases that have been required for children in public schools for decades with a religious waiver form.

NATIONAL SECURITY

The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.

Strongly Disagree

Acquisition of U.S. farmlands and other properties in Washington and around the country increase the threats posed. We need to eliminate the the U.S. dependency on supplies, materials, and goods from China that are vital to our energy and military production and stop sales of supplies, materials, and goods that are vital to China's energy and military,

iVoterGuide Notes:

Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?

Yes, Israel is our oldest and strongest friend in the region. We should not abandon our friends. To do so weakens the trust and bond with all our friends in the international community. In time we'd find ourselves standing alone. The current administration's absolute blunder in Afghanistan invited the Russian invasion of Ukraine and shook our international friends' trust. We cannot repeat the Afghanistan blunder with Israel.

IMMIGRATION

The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.

Strongly Disagree

And our northern border. I spent time there w/CBP agents. Border security is national security. The current administration's border policies and executive orders rescinding the previous policies created this absolute crisis. It's brought crushing costs diverting billions away from services for our own citizens. It's a slap in the face to those who follow the immigration laws and have worked so hard to come here legally. To allow millions of people to "cut the line" in front of them is wrong.

After evaluations the candidate informed iVoterGuide that the intended answer was STRONGLY AGREE.

EDUCATION

The state should fund education by allowing dollars to follow the child through programs which protect parents' freedom to choose their child's school – public, private, or homeschool.

Neutral

I believe in our public education system. But it could work to have the funds follow the student if a child is removed from the tax funded public education system if they were enrolled in a verifiable accredited alternative education program and grade level benchmarks were met each school year. Additionally as they would be tax dollars from all the citizens, to safeguard their proper use, the payments for the alternative school program should be paid to the provider.

VALUES

Children are the most vulnerable members of society and must be protected from abuse, including gender ideology, grooming, and bodily mutilation.

Strongly Disagree

Let parents be the parents. Child Protective Services is there if there is evidence children are being neglected or harmed. When kids enter the school they are there to learn math, history, English, reading, writing, science, language, shop, art, computers, drama, band, choir, and PE. They aren't there to be parented. Books should be age appropriate. When I was in school, Sex Education was taught in 7th grade health. Gender and sex were not addressed in grades prior to that. It worked.

iVoterGuide Notes:

Parents should have the right to make decisions for their minor children.

Strongly Disagree

It's a no brainer to me. Minor children aren't competent to make major life decisions. We have to be 16 to get a driver's license, we have to be 17 to buy a ticket to a rated R movie, we have to be 18 to vote, we have to be 21 to have drink or buy tobacco. How would one conclude that minor children can make major life decisions about gender assignment?

iVoterGuide Notes:

After evaluations took place the candidate informed iVoterGuide that the intended answer was STRONGLY AGREE.

Taxpayer funds should be used to provide gender transition services.

Strongly Disagree

When a person becomes an adult capable of making such decisions, the decision for those procedures/services is elective. Tax payer funds should no more be spent on such elective procedures or services than paying for someone to get a tattoo, tummy tuck, facelift, botox lip injections, or any other similar elective procedure or service.

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.

Disagree

Marriage is a relationship agreement between two people to be partners in life. I believe God had a design for man and woman to join in such marriage relationships but He gave us freewill. If others freely choose to enter into relationships counter to His design, that's their choice. I believe in "you do you, and I'll do me". The marriage for which one gets a marriage license from the government is a relationship contract as it relates to legal matters. One's faith and belief is their own.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I believe the universe is too vast and complex to have just happened by accident. I believe in God, the Father, and the Holy Spirit the Creator of heaven and Earth and all things. I believe that Jesus was the son of God and was sent to us to show us the way to His kingdom and died on the cross for our sins. I believe that God created all mankind in His image. As such I don't believe that He has abandoned the souls of men and women who came before Jesus or after Jesus who had/have no way of knowing Jesus. I believe that He must have revealed Himself and a path to Him in ways I cannot know. So I trust in my faith that the way I have been shown is true without judging the path others may or may not know. I seek to know God's will in my life.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

We have to have photo ID for so many other daily requirements that are much less consequential than exercising our voting right. We have to get elections right because they impact everyone. However, I believe the first ID we get should be free. License renewals or replacements for lost ID should have a fee.

States should join the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact which makes the Electoral College irrelevant.

Strongly Disagree

We have a democratic representative republic. The republic provides representation for less populous states so that they aren't "railroaded by mob rule". The Electoral College is the mechanism by which the less populous states get a say in selecting the president of the United States so that their voted wishes aren't simply squashed into irrelevance by states like New York, Illinois, and California. A comparison to a golf or bowling handicap might be fair. Its weighted but not lopsidedly so.

EQUALITY

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

We've been experiencing the fanning of old dying embers of racism to see them blown back to flame. It's being done to tear our societal fabric apart for control. I grew up in the 70s and 80s. I observed the extinguishing of racism over time to the point that it was on life support in the fringes of our communities. Neo Nazis in the 80s tried to stir up hate with leaders like Robert Mathews and David Duke but America has no stomach for these hate mongers. Stop fanning the flames both directions.

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Strongly Disagree

I believe advocates of CRT only serve to fan racial strife in the opposite direction. In the name of equity and inclusion many push for segregation and exclusion. Power and control. They stir up division to pit groups against each other to advance their own agendas. United we stand, divided we fall. Follow the money, just look to net worth and financial dealings of people like Al Sharpton, the founder of the 1619 project, Ibram X Kendi, and others and one can conclude the motivations.

Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.

Strongly Disagree

We have unisex restrooms. We have men's and women's sports and boys/girls sports for a reason. They are biologically different. If someone identifies as a gender different than that of their birth that's their choice but they shouldn't force their choice on others. I'm a strong proponent of the "you do you and I'll do me" and not trying to force one's belief on others. This ties into my religious beliefs. I believe in God, I can't force others to believe in God.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Which comes closest to your view? (Select all that apply) A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost. C) Stricter environmental laws undermine U.S. energy independence and deter development of reliable electricity sources. D) Climate change is real and requires urgent policy action.

C - We are a world leader in clean technologies and have reversed much of the environmental degradation that occurred during the height of the industrial age. Generally we don't need more and stricter regulations but rather we usually need better application of the ones we have. Be wise and smart, keep the energy we have while always working to make it better while also developing new.

What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?

Small modular nuclear reactors are the future. No emissions and we can make it all at home. We've learned a lot about nuclear reactors' operation, safety, and waste disposal since the early days of reactors like 3 Mile Island. They are the future.

ABOUT YOU

Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.

No

Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.

No

What do you think is the general purpose of government?

The general purpose of government is to provide for the safety and security of its people. Police and fire to protect the people from other people or emergencies. A military to defend the people from outside invaders. After that, government's purpose is to provide services to the community that are out of reach of most of its individual members such as schools and roads.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

I'm a you do you and I'll do me guy. I believe in peace through strength. I believe in the free market with a low safety net of controls to prevent monopolies and things like price gouging or price fixing. I believe in the constitution and our rights guaranteed by it.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

I support redirecting funds from police departments to community programs.

Strongly Disagree

There exists widely accepted levels of police protection per capita based on long gathered criminal statistics. Reducing funds to reduce police forces below them is irresponsible and invites calamity. Other programs are needed to augment the police, not replace police. Those additional resources like mental health workers and addiction specialists need to be funded from elsewhere. This can be done by seeking additional revenue at the consent of the governed or redirecting funds from 2ndary svcs.

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

The regulations restricting machine guns and suppressors to certain license holders are reasonable. Prohibitions on carry in certain places like bars and taverns is reasonable. The right of a private establishment like T Mobile Park to restrict firearms in their place of business is their business. Age restrictions on the purchase of firearms is not unreasonable. These new slates of rules with bans on magazines, semi-automatic rifles, and braces are an unlawful infringement.

Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?

Yes

If a teacher volunteers to participate in a certified arming program and passes background checks, psychological testing, and qualified training to certify them at a level commensurate to what our police officers get then yes they should be allowed to carry guns at school. I recommend people read an article by LTC(ret) Dave Grossman entitled "On Sheep, Wolves, and Sheepdogs". I believe it can help people understand the value in training and arming teachers that are prepared and qualified.
