QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Disagree

Abortion is a nuanced subject and the banning of this care puts women’s lives at risk and has already caused women to die in this nation.

Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?

No later than 16 weeks for a normal pregnancy. In the event of fetal demise, or if the life of the mother is at risk, then abortion should be available to save the life of the mother at any time. If a pregnancy is the result of rape or incest, there should be no limitation on when an abortion can be performed.

Human life deserves legal protection from conception until natural death.

Strongly Disagree

In several cases already, the fetal personhood position has given fetuses more rights than the women carrying them. I’m aware of two instances where the fetus had legal representation and the mother did not and was not allowed to get legal representation. I’m sure there are many more. On several occasions, women giving birth, started to have complications and were required to have a zoom meeting with a judge while in labor.

The lives of human embryos created through artificial methods ought to be protected from purposeful destruction.

Neutral

If the purposeful destruction is malicious, I can agree. If it is part of the normal process of dealing with frozen embryos, when they are no longer needed, then that is fine.

The Comstock Act, which bans interstate transportation of abortion-inducing drugs, should be enforced.

Strongly Disagree

No law should be used to enforce someone’s religious views on another person, especially the Comstock act.

ECONOMY

What is your position on the minimum wage?

The minimum wage should be a living wage, as it was originally intended. No one should have to work multiple jobs just to barely make ends meet.

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Disagree

Free enterprise and private property are essential. However, when these get abused to the detriment of the community, like the data centers and the valley link, for example, then they are just wealth extraction machines, and do nothing to benefit every day, West Virginians, in fact, they hurt West Virginians.

List your top 3-5 priorities to eliminate government waste.

There is a lot of money wasted in the form of for billionaires. We could recoup a lot of that money just by taxing billionaires and trillionaire even just slightly more than we do now. Our strongest middle class existed in large part when the ultra wealthy had an 80 to 90% Progressive tax rate. That doesn’t mean the government takes 80 or 90% of everything they earn, which is a big misconception.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

It means that anyone is free to practice their religion and impose it upon themselves and no one else. It also guarantees the right to not have a religion. It means that the state should stay out of religious affairs, and religion should stay out of governing.

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Neutral

Businesses can refuse to do business with someone for any reason. The Supreme Court case that was teed up by the Heritage foundation to get it before the Supreme Court was so that people could use their religion to refuse service to others based on their own bigotry. In the age old court ruling Goose v. Gander, Certain Christian groups were all up in arms when a business decided not to serve one of them. I don’t think businesses should discriminate, but that’s just my opinion.

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.

B. Once people are able to see how well universal healthcare will work, they will all go running to the universal healthcare. We all already pay an exorbitant amount of money, and healthcare companies are always looking for ways to make us pay more, or for them to cover less. If you take out the profit motive in healthcare, you end up spending less for healthcare as an individual, and you don’t have to live in fear of medical debt or the cost of medication’s.

The government should keep a database of people with various ongoing medical illnesses to assess the economic burden of treatment.

Strongly Disagree

The government shouldn’t be keeping databases on people for anything, especially if it can be used to deny healthcare.

NATIONAL SECURITY

The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.

Strongly Agree

The Chinese communist party has a long history of stealing intellectual property, and then building it and selling it as if it were their own. This is wrong, and it needs to stop.

Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?

The United States’ relationship with Israel is not important. Israel used to be our surrogate fortress in the Middle East in the 70s shortly after we brokered the deal for the oil back dollar with the Saudi family. Now, all we are doing is funding Israel’s holy war/genocide, And they are buying American politicians in the process.

IMMIGRATION

I support the existence of sanctuary cities to protect undocumented persons.

Agree

People who are here as undocumented immigrants have only committed a civil infraction, not a criminal infraction. The recent effort to scapegoat immigrants and round them up in cages, and murder American citizens in the street while doing so, is unconscionable. We need immigration reform, and we almost had bipartisan immigration reform until Donald Trump told Republicans to vote against it so he would have something to run on In 2024. Remember, people with less institutional power than you aren

EDUCATION

I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.

Disagree

The US Department of Education is what helped desegregate schools and keep them desegregated. If we have no national standard for learning, it won’t be long before some states are teaching only the Bible in school. If you think our country rates terribly in education now, get rid of the Department of education and it will just get worse. Brain drain has been the fall of many great societies.

Foreign governments should be prohibited from funding American education.

Neutral

It depends. If it is K through 12, I think the curriculum should be set by experts in their field of study, not by politicians or bureaucrats. It should be paid for with our tax money, and if there are going to be school voucher programs for private schools, there need to be caps. However, since a lot of funding has been cut for higher education, we need funding from highly educated western alliance nations like Switzerland and Germany, es pecially in the sciences.

VALUES

Government should recognize and support the fundamental right and essential duty of parents to direct their child's health and educational well-being.

Strongly Disagree

Healthcare decisions should be made between a patient and their doctor. The only role the government has here is to fund medical research. We have seen outbreaks of measles and mumps, and other diseases that were previously eradicated because we allowed the government to set health policy without using evidence based medicine.

Attempts to physically or socially transition a child to the opposite sex constitute child abuse.

Disagree

Talking points from both sides of the aisle have ruined this issue. There are roughly 100 transgender people under 18 in the United States. Our and resources would be best spent elsewhere. What is disturbing is that so many politicians are obsessed with children’s genitalia. It seems like every few days, another very outspoken politician against trans. People ends up Getting busted for being a pedophile. That’s who we should protect our children from. Plus, it is a tired culture war issue.

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.

Strongly Disagree

If you go by the biblical definition of marriage, it can be between one man and one woman, one man and two women, one man, a woman and his concubines, The list goes on. I think, instead of policing who can be married in this state, we should be focused on making sure that true equality exists. If a church doesn’t want to participate in marrying gay people, they don’t have to. But they shouldn’t be telling the government that they’re not allowed to recognize Gay marriage.

I support the expansion of gambling in my state.

Neutral

Gambling is highly addictive. That being said, I think that in moderation, and with regulation, there’s nothing wrong with it. Right now, however, we have a president who is manipulating betting markets, because he will find a bet that he can directly influence, make a bit, and then do or say something that will ensure he wins that bet.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I was raised a Christian. About 10 years ago, I actually sat down and read the Bible from Front to back. I was disgusted at how churches are now deliberately twisting scripture to fit their own agenda. After a long, soul crushing search for the truth, I realized that I was an agnostic atheist. That being said, I love the teachings of Jesus Christ in the Bible. I encourage more Christians To read the actual words of Jesus in the Bible. There are Bibles out there where the red letters are the words of Jesus. Many people I know refuse to make the best out of life, because they believe in an eternally rewarding afterlife. Since I don’t believe in that, I want to be as good person that I can in this one short life that I have..

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Agree

We have been voting without photo identification for 250 years. We have to rigorously prove who we are when we register to vote. There are many people, especially in poverty, stricken neighborhoods, who never got their drivers license or couldn’t afford to get an identification. I’ll cut to the chase, people want voter ID laws because they think the 2020 election was stolen from Donald Trump. Not one iota of evidence has been presented to make That case.

EQUALITY

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Neutral

The issue of reparations is a culture war issue. It is meant to distract you with one hand, while legislators pass laws like HB2014 that take away the ability of counties and local government to enforce their own laws and ordinances against data centers in West Virginia. They also put up a lot of Flock Surveillance cameras while we were distracted. Stop being distracted with culture war nonsense, and pay attention to what they’re doing with their other hand.

Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.

Neutral

I think it should be up to the sports governing body to determine who plays. But again, this is one of those culture war issues that the establishment keeps you distracted with while they take your liberties away, like they did in West Virginia with HB2014, the mass AI surveillance cameras, and the massive transmission line that sucks our electricity out of the state and causes our bills to go up.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Man-made climate change is a global threat and requires urgent political action.

Strongly Agree

We have had unprecedented flooding and each year has set a new record for hottest temperatures on the planet. All of the data proves climate change is real, and oil companies knew it in the 1950s. This planet will go on just fine without us. We are making it uninhabitable for our ourselves. We are so selfish that we are willing to allow our great, great grandchildren, to suffer mass famine, runway greenhouse temperatures, And worse because we want to be comfortable.

What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?

I’m a proponent of hydroelectric, nuclear, wind and solar energy. I’ve heard the people who say the sun goes away every day and the wind doesn’t blow every day, but we are making huge advancements in the storage of this energy.

ABOUT YOU

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Choose not to answer

I am a Progressive constitutionalist. I do not fit neatly into any political box and I refuse to stand in one.

Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.

No.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.

No.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

What should be the goal of the criminal justice system?

To catch criminals, prosecute them under the law, and rehabilitate them so they can become productive members of society after they have paid their debt to society.

Government has a responsibility to protect children from sexual exploitation during online activities.

Agree

I do agree that the government needs to play a role in protecting our children from sexual predators online. Parents also have to take responsibility and not give young, impressionable children unfettered access to the Internet. Children are smart, so even if you give them access to the Internet with restrictions, they will find a way around it. Parents need to be more active and involved in their children’s lives, rather than putting a device in their hands to keep them occupied.

Sharia law should not be accepted or incorporated in any form within the legal framework of the United States.

Strongly Agree

Sharia Law has not andcannot be implemented in the United States. We are a constitutional republic. It would require an entire rewriting or repeal of our constitution. Watching Muslims, pray in their mosques and limit themselves According to their religion is freedom of religion, not sharia law. I worry more about Christian fundamentalists who have passed law after law that ban others from doing things that the lawmakers’ own religion doesn’t allow them to do.

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

I don’t believe in banning firearms. We should, however, remove a judge’s or prosecutor’s discretion to take a domestic violence charge and knock it back to anything other than domestic violence. Why? Because 66% of mass shooters, and almost 100% of the “bad apples” In police departments have a history of domestic violence. We also need to change Gun culture in America and make it to where guns are tools again. Gun nuts have equated firearms with manhood, and that is not healthy for children.
