RIGHT TO LIFE
Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?
While I believe God prefers life for all, I believe a woman should have the right to choose abortion up until the point of reasonable viability. Then an elective abortion should not be allowed, though an elective c-section followed by adoption makes sense. An abortion to save the life of the mother should be an option at that stage as well.

Chemical abortion drugs should meet essential safety standards (such as in-person consultation with a medical doctor) and require reporting to gather evidence on reactions and outcomes.

Agree
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Strongly Agree
As a country, we should not be investing in this industry.

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Disagree
We have seen where these laws make people feel like a burden to others and hence seek death not because they want to die but because they believe it will help their loved ones.

ECONOMY
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
These two ideas are fundamental to what is meant by individual rights which is the foundation of this country and what has made us unique in the world today.

What is your position on the minimum wage?
We need to be free to engage in contracts without coercion. Minimum wages remove individual rights to make agreements and they should be outlawed. They reduce the ability to negotiate for work and thus reduce individual rights.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Under what circumstances can government close churches?
Government should not be able to close physical churches or any other business. During times like a pandemic, vulnerable people will choose to stay away from gatherings. Some congregations will choose to close their doors from lack of parishioners and/or lack of pastors. These should be their choices and not government requirements.

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Strongly Disagree
I believe in individual rights and free enterprise.

HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.
Abolishing taxpayer funded healthcare most closely aligns with my beliefs, however the government has engrained itself into the service on all sides through its many tentacles. That being the case, C is probably best current scenario where medicaid and medicare remain available. The entire concept of health insurance as a safety net is no longer understood as people use, and government requires, insurance for small healthcare bills and not just for catastrophic care.

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
Government should be able to require well-studied (think Polio or malaria) vaccines for those going overseas. Employers should be able to run their business as they see fit. We should be convinced that vaccines are worthy vs being required.

NATIONAL SECURITY
The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.

Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?
Israel's relationship with the US is important. Israel has been a counterpoint to radicalism and has stemmed the proliferation of nuclear weapons in an unstable region. Between business, technology, security and relationship building within the Middle East, Israel remains a good friend to the US and our relationship with them is important.

IMMIGRATION
The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.
Strongly Agree
Our current system of allowing everyone in and checking on them later has led to known terrorists being free in this country. I would create new systems, including physical borders, for entering the country legally at a number that is beneficial and in a way that allows the US to know and approve of who is here.

EDUCATION
The state should fund education by allowing dollars to follow the child through programs which protect parents' freedom to choose their child's school – public, private, or homeschool.
Strongly Agree
This is the most equitable way to ensure children are treated fairly throughout school systems.

VALUES
Children are the most vulnerable members of society and must be protected from abuse, including gender ideology, grooming, and bodily mutilation.
Strongly Agree
I am unclear what is meant by "gender ideology" in this question but I strongly agree that children's minds are not done growing and should not be making life altering decisions that will cause them permanent changes either physically or pharmacologically. Our roles as adults should be to love children unconditionally as they grow to an age where they are capable of making these life altering choices with an understanding of the real consequences for themselves both physically and mentally.

Parents should have the right to make decisions for their minor children.
Neutral
I will choose neutral on this even though I mostly agree with the question. There are limits to these decisions. An example would include allowing children to smoke marijuana in Colorado or play in busy streets.

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.
Strongly Disagree
Marriage is both a religious rite that sanctions a couple in the eyes of God and a government-enacted coupling with various rights and responsibilities.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a Christian, a Methodist. I value the Methodist quadrilateral derived by John Wesley in the 1700s. Scripture, tradition, reason and experience provide the foundation for my beliefs.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Disagree
People do vote without photo ID and mailed-in ballots with bad signatures has led to distrust by voters. To return to a time when elections are trusted, we need to return to precinct voting. There, a photo id is less likely needed because people know each other within precincts. For now, requiring photo ID would ensure your vote goes through and that someone who is ineligible to vote by way of unclean voter roles does not vote, invalidating your own legitimate votes.

States should join the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact which makes the Electoral College irrelevant.
Strongly Disagree
The electoral college was specifically designed to keep popular urban centers with unique needs from running roughshod over a country that has a lot of rural areas with unique needs as well. Democratic voting is two wolves and a sheep voting on what's for dinner. The electoral college requires universal appeal to both the wolves and the sheep - in this example.

EQUALITY
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
With the insistence that everyone is racist yes. If true and all non-white races are victims, then there is a threat to harmony in the US. I grew up in a time with increases in interracial marriage and global travel. I assumed racism would die out and fade away quickly but it appears we have not reached that level of harmony yet.

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Strongly Disagree
I believe the institutions are fundamentally NOT racist, while the history of the institutions run by and built by flawed individuals is.

Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.
Neutral
I will answer neutral to this question because you are including so many things here. Individual businesses should be able to run their restrooms/locker rooms as they think best. In government-run places like schools or prisons then no, biological males should not be competing with or living with women. Competitively there is a difference between sexes that cannot be ignored. Safety in prisons is important for all and so special units for transgender individuals should be created.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Which comes closest to your view? (Select all that apply) A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost. C) Stricter environmental laws undermine U.S. energy independence and deter development of reliable electricity sources. D) Climate change is real and requires urgent policy action.
Stricter environmental laws make sense as new technologies come into existence and are affordable but should not be required to the detriment of a reliable energy sector and should never require the planned use of technologies that don't exist.

What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?
In the US, coal and natural gas are the most reliable energy sources and allow for long term storage. Nuclear energy should have a great future as it becomes safer and more common.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
I support redirecting funds from police departments to community programs.
Neutral
This would all depend on the current funding of the police department and what is needed there and what is defined by community programs. For instance if it would help secure individual rights and police cases to have more money directed to mental health programs, I would support the redirection.

2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
The assurance that current laws and procedures are followed through is needed to protect public safety. For instance, those who are not allowed to purchase firearms but then attempt to purchase, commit a crime. These crimes are not given the scrutiny they deserve. So many people (not all) involved in mass shootings are known to those around them yet have never been spoken with by a mental health professional.
