QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?

An elective abortion should be allowable up until the point of viability, at which point medical terminations as recommended by the attending physicians. No woman should be forced to risk her life or future fertility due to an incomplete miscarriage or complications from a non-viable pregnancy.

Chemical abortion drugs should meet essential safety standards (such as in-person consultation with a medical doctor) and require reporting to gather evidence on reactions and outcomes.

Strongly Disagree

Tele-med or virtual appointments are just as valid as "in-person" consultations with a medial doctor.

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Disagree

Planned Parenthood offers a full-range of services including wellness exams and cervical cancer screenings for low income individuals and that is worthy of public funding.

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Agree

Everyone should have the right to die with dignity on their own terms.

ECONOMY

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Agree

What is your position on the minimum wage?

The minimum wage should be a livable wage.

Should environmental and social issues, like ESG (environmental, social, and governance) ratings, be used as criteria in deciding where to invest public monies?

No

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Under what circumstances can government close churches?

It's a dangerous precedent to use government authority to close churches down. However, it shows a blatant disregard for lives of parishioners for a church to stay open during a historic pandemic and encourage members to attend in-person. Especially with all of today's technology when it's so easy to reach people in their homes.

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Agree

If you offer a good or service to the public, you cannot blatantly discriminate against any segment of the population. Your religious and moral beliefs are guiding principals to define your life, not something to be imposed on anyone else.

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.

B

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

As they have been historically. Vaccines eradicated Polio in the U.S. We had basically eradicated Measles until the modern anti-vacc movement has allowed this dangerous disease to re-emerge in our country.

NATIONAL SECURITY

The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.

Neutral

Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?

Israel has the same right to exist as every other country in the Middle East. I have been very disappointed with the way they've handled the current conflict in Gaza which has led to so many senseless civilian casualties. The U.S. must pressure Israel to change their terms of engagement in Gaza to be more targeted in their efforts to go after Hamas and insist that they protect the sanctity of civilian life, allow food and medical aid in ending the blockade.

IMMIGRATION

The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.

Disagree

A technological solution is more viable than a wall.

EDUCATION

The state should fund education by allowing dollars to follow the child through programs which protect parents' freedom to choose their child's school – public, private, or homeschool.

Disagree

In theory, I'd agree with this because the funding should be based on the enrollment numbers, but that's not how it works in Ohio. Our schools are unconstitutionally funded by property taxes and School Vouchers take funding away from already struggling public schools that need the money the most. There's a better way to fix the system.

VALUES

Children are the most vulnerable members of society and must be protected from abuse, including gender ideology, grooming, and bodily mutilation.

Strongly Disagree

Only conservatives make these topics about sex or anything untoward. You can't pretend that these things don't exist. Someone in the class is going to have two dads or they themselves might be girl who likes girls. You can't just stick your head in the sand and pretend it doesn't happen.

Parents should have the right to make decisions for their minor children.

Agree

Taxpayer funds should be used to provide gender transition services.

Neutral

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.

Strongly Disagree

From the governmental perspective it's a legal agreement between 2 consenting adults and constitutionally religion shouldn't come into it all.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Neutral

States should join the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact which makes the Electoral College irrelevant.

Agree

All votes should be equal.

EQUALITY

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

Did not answer

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Agree

I disagree with the premise of this question. CRT is just another buzz word now and it doesn't mean that our institutions are fundamentally racist. It means that we need to look critically at our history and our policies and how race/racism played a role in the way our modern society is set-up through actions like red-lining, building the interstates through communities of color and limiting affordable housing in "white" communities. We can't learn to do better, if we don't look at the past.

Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.

Disagree

Trans women are women. There's a real conversation to be had about sports and the fairness there, sure, but otherwise please leave these women alone and just let them live their lives.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Which comes closest to your view? (Select all that apply) A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost. C) Stricter environmental laws undermine U.S. energy independence and deter development of reliable electricity sources. D) Climate change is real and requires urgent policy action.

D

What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?

I think it's important that Ohio, and the U.S. be at the forefront of developing the energy sources of tomorrow. Fossil fuels, as reliable as they are now, do have an "end-date" as they are non-renewable resources.

ABOUT YOU

Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.

No.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.

No.

What do you think is the general purpose of government?

Manage shared resources and maintain the nation.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Lean Liberal

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

I support redirecting funds from police departments to community programs.

Disagree

But I do support funding community programs.

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

We need to close the private sale loop-hole for background checks that can be easily exploited by bad-actors and homes with minors should be required to have gun-safes to prevent accidental shootings.

Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?

No

I don't think this is the answer to solving school shootings.
