QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Neutral
What role should the school serve in helping a student with an unwanted or crisis pregnancy?
The school system should work with the parents of minor students in this important time of need and guide them to services the parent indicates. In situations where the parents of a minor student are unreachable, or when the student is not a minor, or there are safety concerns, the school should proceed as directed by state law. This is a very complicated question and it is impossible to answer so many eventualities in a short space.
ECONOMY
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Agree
What is your position on government funding of public education from Pre-K through college?
Schools should be well funded by the government. The way the government treats public education is exactly the way it treats its people. Having said that, there should be massive transparency and oversight. Purchasing and spending should pass greater scrutiny and the system needs to be more efficient.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Teachers should be required to instruct students on mandated curriculum even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Strongly Agree
Assuming of course by "teachers" you mean public school educators, yes. Those teachers should teach state provided curriculum. Public school teachers should not seek opportunities to give sermons on the quadratic formula at services, and very important religious and philosophical pursuits should take place outside of the diverse classroom environment.
EDUCATION
Abortion and gender-affirming providers, including Planned Parenthood, should be a resource for instruction or services in the school.
Disagree
I don't know what you mean by "in the school". A lesson on subjects such as these after recess is one thing, and the counselor's office having a brochure in a desk drawer is entirely another discussion.
Consistent discipline creates a safe and orderly environment, which is essential for student learning.
Strongly Agree
Setting expectations is fundamental to success.
Do you believe print and digital material available or presented to students should be easily accessible for public review, including those without children enrolled in school?
Yes
Educators should give students a thorough education in America's founding documents and cultivate American patriotism.
Agree
I grew up encouraged to be proud of my country and it worked! America is a wonderful place, and an idea that has lit the world for two and a half centuries. I've also taught abroad, and I came back better for it. I came back. The promise of America is special to me, and I hold it close.
I support Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI).
Agree
DEI is an important concept for 21st century America. We are a diverse society that strives for inclusion and equity in all areas. But for me, this is a trap question. I'm running against a popular minority candidate, and one that is already under-represented on the Board to boot. Maybe the proper move to support DEI is for me to stand aside. I don't think it is. I think the voters should choose the best candidate, just as employers should chose applicants on merits.
I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.
Disagree
The USDOE doesn't have control. I can't wait to see what other candidates will say to this question. The Secretary of Ed doesn't dictate policy in my classroom. I won't let him. I practically had to use google to find out his name. More importantly, our education system isn't controlled by Federal dollars. State, and local contribute roughly 90%. You want control of education back, you should help me get Council For Great City Schools out of public education in Nevada.
Please list in order the following priorities in relation to the role of a K-12 public school (omitting any that do not apply): American History, Art & Music, Civics, Critical Race Theory, Foreign Language, Gender Identity, Information Technology, Language Arts, Mathematics, Personal Finances, Physical Fitness, Political Activism, Science, Sexuality, Social Emotional Learning, Vocational Learning

The state should fund education by allowing dollars to follow the child instead of the bureaucracy, through a program which allows parents the freedom to choose their child's school – public, private, or homeschool.
Disagree
Vouchers for schools is the same thing as taking dollars away from police and giving it to a private security company. Vouchers are "defund the police" in an attractive costume. It surprises me that so many "back the blue" people want to turn their back on educators. It makes no sense. Education policy is easier for voters to change than law enforcement policy, you just have to get involved.
Which should students have: equity of outcomes or equality of opportunities?
Equity of opportunities. Outcomes are generated by engaged parents, students, and educators. The way to facilitate those outcomes is to ensure the opportunity existed in the first place. We must strive to advocate for all students in all situations.
Which type of written parental consent should be obtained before students are taught courses such as Comprehensive Sex Education (CSE)? (A) Opt-In. (B) Opt-Out. (C) None.
Opt-In. I should choose for my child to receive this instruction.
VALUES
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

Children have a right to reach maturity without chemical or surgical castration, which would damage their healthy bodies through surgeries and may cause a life-long dependence on cross-sex hormones.
