QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Agree

Abortion should only be covered when the life of the mother is in danger, rape, incest or when the baby has been determined by a doctor to not be viable. Abortion for any other reason is an elective procedure and should only be done before the heart beat and brain activity can be detected. Taxpayer funds from local, state, or federal funds should not be used.

Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?

When the life of the mother is in danger, before the heart beat and brain activity can be detected, rape, incest or when the baby has been determined by a doctor to not be viable.

Human life deserves legal protection from conception until natural death.

Strongly Agree

Life is life when there is a heart beat and brain activity and all life should be protected.

The lives of human embryos created through artificial methods ought to be protected from purposeful destruction.

Neutral

By definition, a frozen embryo has no heartbeat nor brain activity. To my understanding, when an embryo has aged it is considered no longer viable and is then destroyed. If however; one donor or the other wish to destroy it for whatever reason, they would need the consent of the other party. This is a form of child custody and I do not believe that this is a realm that the government should be involved in.

The Comstock Act, which bans interstate transportation of abortion-inducing drugs, should be enforced.

Strongly Agree

This is Federal law and only Congress can change our laws. Until then, we should follow the law.

ECONOMY

What is your position on the minimum wage?

It was designed to give experience to the unskilled. Living wages come with experience and skill. To raise them has the potential to force small employers to reduce employees or shutter their business-meaning less people in the workforce.

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

The ability to have our own businesses to produce or market, & own property is one of the reasons our Nation came to be. Free enterprise is the foundation of our economic society. This drives competition, which fosters ingenuity, creativity and efficiency. It is is a driving force creating a stronger workforce & higher employment. What determines the fate of a business/enterprise is not the government, a board or even one individual- it is the market. It should most definitely be protected.

List your top 3-5 priorities to eliminate government waste.

1-Medicare and Medicaid Every state needs to look closely at their programs 2-Better controls on financial assistance insuring that only those that are eligible receive funds. 3-Public money spent on projects that don't make sense and benefit no one. Those funds need to be vetted better. 4-stopping Special Sessions that accomplish nothing.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

The government does not endorse nor direct religious groups, they stay separate. The exception being, if a religious practice is in violation of our Constitution and Federal law (ie. Sharia Law), otherwise they should be allowed to work together to support our communities.

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Disagree

No one should be forced to engage in activities or provide services when it violates their religious beliefs. That goes against what a free society stands for. The exception being, providing life saving services, as this is a violation of the hypocritic oath in my opinion. There are plenty of options available to all beliefs without forcing someone to go against theirs.

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.

B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. Public assistance needs to be made available for those that do not have the ability to pay for medical services or are not able to get private/other health care insurance. These programs need to be adjusted to meet the income of individuals. As an individual's income increases, the available assistance goes down. Size of family also needs to be considered.

The government should keep a database of people with various ongoing medical illnesses to assess the economic burden of treatment.

Neutral

This is very close to invasion of privacy, which is protected by the Bill of Rights. We must be very careful to remove all individual identifiers from the database. One reason to track this would be if one area was experiencing higher incidence of illness in order to determine the cause. It could help the individual in finding ways to mitigate the cause of the illness and/or better understand treatments available.

NATIONAL SECURITY

The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.

Strongly Agree

This issue has been going on for decades and is getting more blatant. We must have the ability to protect the citizens of New Mexico and the US from external threats such as China. If we do not exercise those protections and implement policy to do so, we stand to lose billions of dollars worth of intellection property value. Not to mention jobs and economic growth.

Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?

Israel is our friend and our best ally in the region. They are at the front line of Islamic Terrorism and provides the US with valuable intel to help our government in the fight against terrorism here at home. The US & Israel share core values of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Of safety & protection of our citizens and way of life.

IMMIGRATION

I support the existence of sanctuary cities to protect undocumented persons.

Strongly Disagree

People that want to come to this country must do so in accordance to our laws. What a sanctuary city does is shield possible criminals that are here in this country illegally and creates a danger to the public. Not to mention a drain on public resources, including education, medical & social services. We have laws and those laws must be upheld. We cannot pick and chose the laws we want to enforce If a community does not agree with the law, there are processes in place to change them.

EDUCATION

I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.

Agree

There should be some level in the federal government to help the states with education but control of the system should be held at the lowest levels possible, namely the local communities. Even the state should only be there to assist local school districts and provide base line guidance.

Foreign governments should be prohibited from funding American education.

Disagree

As long as there is no influence or control from the foreign governments. If a foreign government wants to invest in a research project at a university then they should be able to & have access to the results, but have no control or oversight of the research. That should be left to the university and the local/federal government.

VALUES

Government should recognize and support the fundamental right and essential duty of parents to direct their child's health and educational well-being.

Strongly Agree

Parents are responsible for their children and therefore should be the ones making these decisions. Government should only provide assistance to parents when requested by the parents. There are exceptions, such as when the parents are unable due to drug addictions or other issues that prevent them for carrying out the duties and responsibilities of a parent.

Attempts to physically or socially transition a child to the opposite sex constitute child abuse.

Agree

A child needs time to learn who they are. This changes throughout their life as they mature. To make life long permanent changes until they have had the time to fully understand themselves to me is wrong. They should be protected from others and treated fairly. I do not know of anyone that truly knew what they wanted as a child 100%. We can not take the ability and right away of these children to change their mind as they mature.

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.

Agree

I am not against same sex unions but that is what it should be called, a union and be given the same legal benefits of a traditional marriage.

I support the expansion of gambling in my state.

Neutral

I am not for or against gambling but protections need to be in place to prevent people from being abused by an addiction to gambling. I also feel that things like raffles should not always be classified as gambling.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a Christian and believe in God. I hold life as the most precious thing we have and that it needs to be protected. We are all works in progress and we all make mistakes but we should be held accountable for our actions. Everyone deserves a second chance to correct their mistakes and be given that opportunity when warranted. Forgiveness is according to each individual, no two people are alike and will forgive in their own way and time, if at all. It can not be forced or mandated. I believe as a society that we should accept each person for who they are and respect each other. I value truth, honesty, respect and ones integrity. I believe my word is my bond and look for that in others. I trust in others until that trust is broken.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

Everyone should have ID to vote. It protects all of us. ID should be something that every person can get and if needed, be provided by the state. In the end, we need to prove we are who we say we are.

EQUALITY

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Strongly Disagree

Should we go to the Germans and Japanese for reoperations for those in the WWII? No. Should an indigenous tribe provide reparations to a tribe they conquered? No. Should Africans that caught and sold other Africans provide reparations? No. We can not change the past but we can learn from it. All of us need to respect and honor each other. Discrimination in any form to anyone is wrong and should not be tolerated.

Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.

Strongly Agree

A man is a man and no amount of science manipulation can change that. Our women and girls need to be protected. If need be, then create a separate category.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Man-made climate change is a global threat and requires urgent political action.

Disagree

Man is only a small part of the overall climate change. The natural process/cycle that has gone on for millions of years is. Now we should be taking steps to reduce our footprint but to think we can actually change the overall climate is debatable.

What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?

Nuclear energy. Its clean. Its safe. Its scalable for the need. It is efficient and cost effective over the life of the plant.

ABOUT YOU

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.

No

Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.

No

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

What should be the goal of the criminal justice system?

Remove criminals from the street and if possible, rehabilitate people so they can be a productive contributor to society. The punishments should match the crime and be fairly distributed without consideration of race, religion, sex or social and economic standing.

Government has a responsibility to protect children from sexual exploitation during online activities.

Strongly Agree

Along with the private sector. Government and the private sector need to work hand in hand in protection our children

Sharia law should not be accepted or incorporated in any form within the legal framework of the United States.

Strongly Agree

Sharia is contradictive to our Constitution. It should never be considered in our legal system

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

The current federal restrictions in place to date are sufficient. However, training needs to be provided for all ages. Our issue is not the guns but the mind set of people that use them in bad ways. Teach our youth to respect and honor life, enforce the laws and hold those accountable when they break the laws.
