RIGHT TO LIFE

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Disagree

Abortion services are only a small sliver of the services provided by Planned Parenthood. Because the GOP refuses to pass any form of public healthcare, Planned Parenthood is essential for women's reproductive health, and health in general. This is especially true given our country's atrocious maternal death rate, when compared to the rest of the world.

Chemical abortion drugs should meet essential safety standards (such as in-person consultation with a medical doctor) and require reporting to gather evidence on reactions and outcomes.

Disagree

These medications already meet the stringent standards established by the FDA. Statistically, Tylenol and penicillin are more dangerous.

Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?

Until fetal viability, under the circumstances as determined by the woman. After fetal viability, under the circumstances as determined by the woman and her doctor prioritizing the health and life of the woman.

Does the federal government have a role to play in limiting abortion, and if so what federal steps and/or federal legislation would you support?

The best way for the government to limit abortion, as demonstrated through years of data, is to fund sex education and contraceptive healthcare. If required, the Federal government does have a role in protecting a women's right to abortion access and guaranteeing her bodily autonomy.


ECONOMY

What actions would you take that would allow Americans to retain more of their income and wealth?

Reduce healthcare costs, increase domestic energy supply not tied to OPEC+, increase competition in underserved sectors and thus salaries to induce domestic demand, hold China accountable for WTO violations.

Student loan forgiveness unfairly shifts the financial burden to those not responsible for student debt.

There is no financial burden to shift. If anything, forgiving student debt would increase GDP and tax revenue by stimulating domestic demand.

Should environmental and social issues, like ESG (environmental, social, and governance) ratings, be used as criteria in deciding where to invest public monies?

Yes

There are a number of different categories that are used to determine investments. ESG ratings are a good way to incentivize economic activities that are beneficial to us as a society.


RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Agree

We do not want to recreate the system that existed in our nation's past with second class citizens that could be refused services. Serving "blacks" was once considered against certain moral and religious beliefs.


HEALTHCARE

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

Public schools require vaccinations to stop the spread of diseases such as measles, smallpox, and polio. These are important to maintain the health of our citizenry.

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.

NATIONAL SECURITY

With regard to America's foreign policy, which view most closely resembles yours: A) The United States should intervene whenever freedom is threatened. B) The United States should selectively help countries trying to grow democracy and fight tyranny. C) The United States has become too involved in others' policies and should remain focused on issues regarding our own sovereignty unless in imminent danger. D) The United States should stay out of foreign conflicts completely.

None of these answers closely embody my view of foreign policy. US foreign policy (diplomatic, military, economic) should be focused on strengthening the stability and prosperity of the United States. This can best be maintained with a strong diplomatic corps and involvement in settling conflicts that are disrupting international stability.

The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.

Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?

Yes, this relationship is important. They are a vital ally in the Middle East.

What are the causes of decline in U.S. military recruitment and retention?

I believe the decline in recruitment can best be explained by the deterioration of the social contract and the ever expanding wealth gap. We have a government that has continually told its people "you're on your own." This doesn't engender an attitude of service to one's country.


IMMIGRATION

The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.

This is best done by increasing the ability of legal points of entry to process incoming immigrants and fully funding the Judicial Branch to efficiently process asylum requests which we are bound by international treaty to honor.

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

Asylum seekers as determined by our judicial system, as well as those with sponsorship and valuable work skills.


EDUCATION

I support school choice, including voucher programs, tax credits, charter schools, private schools, and home schools.

I do not agree with public funds being removed from public institutions in order to pay for private or religious schools - unless there is a circumstance where the public institutions cannot meet the needs of the student (ex. medical needs).

I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.

US Dept of Education is a vital piece of ensuring we have a mature citizenry, capable of being good citizens as well as economically productive. Educating our youth is a public good and vital for national security.


VALUES

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.

Marriage, in the view of the government, is a tax contract between two consenting adults.

Children are the most vulnerable members of society and must be protected from abuse, including gender ideology, grooming, and bodily mutilation.

I strongly agree, but this seems to be a leading statement, mostly informed by current, and unscientific, anti-LGBTQ propaganda. For example, circumcision is bodily mutilation, yet it is an accepted religious practice. Grooming of minors from clergy is a proven greater threat to children than from a library book demonstrating self-acceptance. Archaic laws in states allowing 13-year olds to be married to older men should be the focus of the anti-grooming movement.

Gender transition services are healthcare.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I was raised as, and am still, a practicing Roman Catholic. I pray to Christ, but I have a much more open and non-dogmatic view of religion and spirituality. As a Congressman, my job will be to serve and represent all my constituents, not just my fellow Catholics.


ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

An amendment should be passed to require all states to submit their Electoral College vote divided in proportion to the popular vote in their state. This would eliminate the issue of votes "not counting" in heavily Democratic and Republican states. This would still allow a decentralized election, which we learned in 2020 is an incredibly vital part of election security.


EQUALITY

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

This is a flawed question referencing a very specific graduate-level legal and philosophical theory and attempting to broaden it to a narrative - as was the intent of the pundits that first began spreading this manufactured controversy. Do I believe that systemic racism exists in the systems present in the US? Yes, I do. The data is very clear about that fact. The alternative is to believe that a certain portion of our population is inherently inferior to another.

Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.

Inter-sex is a fact of biology present in all species of the animal kingdom. Transexuality has long been a reality of human existence. The first books burned by the Nazis were from trans and homosexual scientific research. Please be careful of falling into the trap of ridiculing that which you do not understand. You have been using the bathroom with transexual people for decades and you didn't realize it, just as you have always worked with homosexual people and you didn't realize it.


ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Man-made climate change is a global threat and requires urgent political action.

As stated by the most recent National Security Strategy: "Of all the shared problems we face, climate change is the greatest and potentially existential for all nations."

For now? Fossil fuels. In the near future? Renewables. In 20-30 years? Fusion.

Very Conservative

The Constitution of the United States is the single greatest political document written by mankind. I will do everything in my power to conserve this traditional institution and the Enlightenment values it represents.

What do you think is the general purpose of government?

To help maintain a structure for society. The US federal government? "Establish Justice, insure [sic] domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity," per the Constitution of the United States.

JUDICIAL PHILOSOPHY

The Supreme Court should be reformed to include more seats.

Unnecessary. Given the fact that we currently have the most financially corrupt Supreme Court since the Civil War, and the US Senate is not performing their necessary duty of holding the Justices accountable, an enforceable ethics code needs to be established.


CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

I support redirecting funds from police departments to community programs.

Police departments, as with most of our public institutions, need more funding to do the work that we expect of them.


2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

As a Federal officer, I believe that State and Local governments are best equipped to satisfy the needs of protecting public safety within their jurisdictions. Broadly, per Justice Scalia, "longstanding prohibitions on the possession of firearms by felons and the mentally ill, or laws forbidding the carrying of firearms in sensitive places such as schools and government buildings, or laws imposing conditions and qualifications on the commercial sale of arms," have existed in our nation.
