QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?
1) Up until a heart beat is detected, 2) if the individual's health is in danger, 3) that person was a victim of sexual assault and has sought mental health and/or faith-based counselling, and 4) it has been determined that the fetus is nonviable by a certified doctor or nurse practitioner
Chemical abortion drugs should meet essential safety standards (such as in-person consultation with a medical doctor) and require reporting to gather evidence on reactions and outcomes.
Strongly Agree
Some women have experienced adverse mental and physical effects from these drugs, so a close interaction with medical professionals during use is the best medical practice.
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Strongly Agree
I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Disagree
Assisted suicide and euthanasia are slippery slope. A case in point is Canada's Medical Aide in Dying where the disabled and poor are being approved for assisted dying. In the United States, citizens have a right to "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness"; we do not have a right to murder or to death. We need to lift up the poor, indigent, disabled, and sick - not take their lives for the sake of economics or convenience. A civilization is judged by how it treats the neediest.
ECONOMY
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
There is a balance between onerous and constricting regulations on business and industry and ones to protect the public. As a leaning conservative, I want to help create an environment for businesses to thrive, but also protect citizens from predatory practices like monopolies, discrimination, or environmental pollution. Owning private property is one of the best ways for citizens to create generational wealth, so we must protect the single family home market from large investment firms.
What is your position on the minimum wage?
Increasing the minimum wage to high levels puts enormous strain on small businesses leading to their closure and thus increasing unemployment. The path out of subsistence wage levels is through education, trades, and entrepreneurship.
Should environmental and social issues, like ESG (environmental, social, and governance) ratings, be used as criteria in deciding where to invest public monies?
No
Like CRT, ESG is based on neo-Marxist ideology and therefore is detrimental to a thriving business economy. Public monies should be invested in stocks or funds that provide the public with the best financial return.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Under what circumstances can government close churches?
We live in a society that is required to respect the right to exercise religion and free assembly. During national emergencies in the past (war, disease, etc.), churches were open and provided physical and spiritual succor for the needs arising due to the emergency. Therefore, all houses of worship should remain open under all circumstances. We must demand our government structures to stop infringing on our personal liberties; it is unconstitutional.
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Disagree
We thankfully live in a day and age in which there are so many options for businesses providing services. If we choose to patronize businesses that are friendly, they will thrive. If our moral or religious values are not supported by a business, we can find one that does. This respects the business owners' AND customers' right to free exercise of religion and conscience as well as free speech. We do not have a right in the US to not be offended. One person's hateful speech is not another's.
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.
C) We spend more on healthcare than any other country in the world, and we have the sickest people. Our healthcare system profits when people are sick. Healthcare needs to be completely restructured at the national level, and laws need to be passed to make advertisements of pharmaceuticals as well as kickbacks to doctors illegal. Americans should also not be paying more than other countries for the same prescription drugs. Healthcare should incentivize health and wellness - not # of scripts.
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
Considering we are learning more and more about how vaccines do not provide lasting immunity and are not necessarily safe, I am against vaccine mandates. Any type of coercion or incentivization goes against informed consent in medical ethics.
NATIONAL SECURITY
The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.
Strongly Agree
Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?
Yes. The US has a long relationship of supporting Israel. They have been our ally in a region of the world that is far from peaceful and this gives the US a strategic advantage in national security.
IMMIGRATION
The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.
Strongly Agree
The open border has already cost the US a staggering $151 billion. Our economy is already in dire straits with a fiat currency not tied to a standard, Congress spending more than it collects, and the Federal Reserve printing money. The open border also profits drug cartels and human traffickers. Businesses and NGOs are using federal tax dollars to profit from this disaster. It is also a huge security threat to the US. A country with no borders is lawless.
EDUCATION
The state should fund education by allowing dollars to follow the child through programs which protect parents' freedom to choose their child's school – public, private, or homeschool.
Agree
We have a limited version of this type of program that recently was signed into law in Georgia this year by Gov. Kemp. Although a child may leave a failing school, the school's state funding is not reduced leaving smaller class sizes and enabling more individualized instruction. It is a win-win overall.
VALUES
Children are the most vulnerable members of society and must be protected from abuse, including gender ideology, grooming, and bodily mutilation.
Strongly Agree
Children's brains do not fully develop until they are 21-25 years old. Exposing children to concepts not aligned with their developmental stage creates trauma and can cause future mental health issues like anxiety and depression. Let's protect children, and let them be children.
Parents should have the right to make decisions for their minor children.
Strongly Agree
A loving parent or guardian is the best advocate for their child. They know their child best. A hallmark of socialism is the transference of children from parental care to that of the state. Although this may seem convenient to the caregiver, it is not necessarily best for the child or for inculcating American ideals like freedom and critical thinking. We must recognize and support the family as the basic unit of a healthy, free society.
Taxpayer funds should be used to provide gender transition services.
Strongly Disagree
On average, 80% of adolescents outgrow gender dysphoria. Converting a healthy individual into a life-long medical patient requiring surgical and pharmacological care is an abuse of taxpayer funds and only serves to profit the already lucrative healthcare industry. Instead of irreversible amputations of healthy sex organs and/or cross-sex hormones, patients should first be offered counseling to help them accept the biological reality of their bodies. Ignoring one's DNA is not a path to health.
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.
Agree
"Marriage" has been a religious institution for millennia. Government is going out of its lane to redefine such a term. Other terms could have been used to signify a life-long, legally-binding commitment of two persons of the same sex conferring similar legal benefits or disadvantages (like the marriage tax).
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I consider myself a faithful Christian and therefore I try to follow the Golden Rules every day: 1) love God and 2) love neighbor.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
Voter ID helps to increase the faith, integrity, and trust we have in our elections. Most countries require voter ID as well as citizenship to vote. Those arguing against such basic requirements reduce our faith in elections because no voter ID enables voter fraud and malfeasance. Charges of voter ID as racist or suppressing the vote are canards without evidence. Businesses requiring IDs like banks, liquor stores, and airline industries require IDs, and yet they are not called racist.
States should join the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact which makes the Electoral College irrelevant.
Strongly Disagree
The purpose of the Electoral College is to give small states their proper representation in the presidential election. Small states that have signed this compact are doing their citizens a disfavor; their votes are being overruled by larger states. We live in a Constitutional Republic not a "democracy" as many would have the uninformed believe. Democracy is majority rule and leads to tyranny. Democracy is two wolves and a chicken voting what's for supper. Minorities are not protected.
EQUALITY
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
In a multicultural society, there will always be some instances of racism. However, I would argue that the biggest threat to our domestic security is corruption. It is everywhere. Transparency and accountability of businesses, government, and organizations is essential. In my opinion, government actions have made race relations worse than other time in my life. Businesses, government, and organizations need to go back to the simple principles of the EEOC.
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Strongly Disagree
Many people make this assertion, but they cannot point to any US law or regulation that requires one race to be treated differently from another. Our country is founded on ideals that are not racist. These ideals have been carried out imperfectly over the history of our country. However, few countries can claim to be less racist than the USA where anyone can come here and achieve the American dream with hard work and perseverance. CRT is based on neo-Marxism and should be rejected.
Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.
Strongly Agree
Allowing biological males to inhabit female spaces strips women and girls of their protections and benefits under Title IX.
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Which comes closest to your view? (Select all that apply) A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost. C) Stricter environmental laws undermine U.S. energy independence and deter development of reliable electricity sources. D) Climate change is real and requires urgent policy action.
C) We need to go back to energy independence which would kickstart our economy and help everyone achieve the American dream.
What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?
Nuclear - but, Congress should make it legal to recycle used fuel. This would solve a large part of the nuclear waste issue and create new US businesses and jobs.
ABOUT YOU
Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.
No
Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.
No
What do you think is the general purpose of government?
According to the preamble of our Constitution, the purpose of our government is to provide organization, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare of its citizens, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Lean Conservative
Liberals used to be about freedom, but today they want to control every aspect of our lives and censor our speech. I am pro freedom, I stand for limited government, and I want us to conserve the good things from the past but judiciously implement reforms that help all Georgians to achieve economic prosperity, have a good education for their children, and live in peace to engage in their pursuits.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
I support redirecting funds from police departments to community programs.
Strongly Disagree
We need to support our police. They keep our communities safe. Funds also need to go to support mental health, and the Georgia Legislature is making strides in this regard with the 988 mental health emergency number and building more mental health facilities.
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
The current laws and regulations on gun ownership are sufficient for public safety. I would like to see an expansion of other states to recognize Georgians' concealed carry licenses.
Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?
Yes
If teachers choose to carry and have a secure, locked place to keep the firearm, this person can react quickly to save lives in an emergency situation. The school will have plans to keep the firearm secure and guidance for its use in emergencies.
