QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?

To save the life of the mother, miscarriages, Rape, Incest, Mental Illness, personal circumstances due to Genetic malfunction, personal Circumstances with Birth Control failure

Chemical abortion drugs should meet essential safety standards (such as in-person consultation with a medical doctor) and require reporting to gather evidence on reactions and outcomes.

Neutral

In relationship with the doctor, the patient reports back to the Doctor the reactions and outcomes, but should not necessarily be required, esp. in very early weeks when 25% if all pregnancies end in natural miscarriages and generally involve little risk of hemorrhage or complications. The provider sets the expectations.

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Agree

In the several cases that I have known about, it was a gentler way to go and avoided the known suffering that was to come.

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Disagree

Planned Parenthood has provided STD testing free for men and women. Also in all states PP provides annual Breast & Cervical exams. Birth Control was provided by PP more that any other group at low cost. PP clinics, that I was familiar with in the states I lived, did not perform abortions but directed women to who provided them. I was told over many years that Federal dollars never went for abortions and that it was always the case. Young women need access to Birth Control without long waits.

ECONOMY

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Agree

What is your position on the minimum wage?

Minimum wage should increase to provide a living wage. It should rise to meet the needs of housing, food, and essentials.

Should environmental and social issues, like ESG (environmental, social, and governance) ratings, be used as criteria in deciding where to invest public monies?

Yes

The environmental investments are increasingly gaining financially, but investment has to be tailored to make money not loose money. It is a transition arena both in the country and world. Investing Public Funds should be with consideration of the local population and get local considerations.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Under what circumstances can government close churches?

If they are burning down.

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Neutral

If someone didn't want to serve me I probably go somewhere else. I do think there is less tolerance than is necessary. If I made a cake for same sex wedding or had to sew a button on or mend a shirt of a gay man, I think first of them as a human needing help. I had to sew a fellows head up that had lots of blood. I didn't think of not suturing him. If you fall down in the street and you are a Calvinist I would just leave you in the ditch. Is that where we are going with this?

Should religious schools which accept state funds be allowed to only admit families and students who agree to adhere to their statement of faith?

No

In the past, religious schools were paid for by the parents, relatives, parishioners and religious groups. It appears that funds are not adequate in public schools so drives students to religious schools even though they are not affiliated. Segregation comes into play as well. Public Funds were to improve Public Education. We have low teacher pay and little to no social workers. This is a painful subject. I want good education for all and we need to raise the education standards for the future.

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.

There will always be private options. I look at other countries and they have universal healthcare. This reduces the anxiety of many people and can prevent worsening conditions that cost more. I lean toward universal healthcare. But I think the medical system should change to make it function better. I certainly don't have all the answers but after 26 years as a Nurse Practitioner in Family Practice I have compassion on the families that worry about medical debt.

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

Well my sister had polio and polio was eradicated for a large part of the world. Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis are required. Vaccines and Masking I think can be required by any country, employer, school or reasonable group. Depends on circumstances.

NATIONAL SECURITY

The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.

Agree

Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?

Difficult time to answer this. I think the original plan was ill thought out. I don't like Netanyahu. I certainly do not have the solutions.

EDUCATION

The state should fund education by allowing dollars to follow the child through programs which protect parents' freedom to choose their child's school – public, private, or homeschool.

Disagree

I think the funding is on the precipice of being abused. Parents want better education for their children. The quality of the Public Schools in NC depend on Funding. It is not fair to underfund so many. Parent's should have the freedom to use any monitored schools but not by underfunding others.

VALUES

Taxpayer funds should be used to provide gender transition services.

Disagree

No healthcare diagnosis or treatment, whether mental, reproductive, or otherwise, should be given to a child without first receiving written consent from the parent unless an emergency situation arises risking immediate death.

Neutral

Generally I agree but have seen situations with teenagers who are 16-17 whose parents are not mentally functional due to alcohol/ drugs. Providers should use common sense. I all 26 years this was not a big problem.

Children are the most vulnerable members of society and must be protected from abuse, including gender ideology, grooming, and bodily mutilation.

Agree

I do feel that the questions are asked oddly and can be used as a stepping step to slant the reader to a political or religious persuasion with out medical knowledge or clarification. Bodily mutilation can be earrings. Gender ideology? Most people have little idea the entire scope of the meaning. Abuse? What kind of abuse. Verbal, Physical, Spiritual. This is a big topic that can just make people be afraid of other people. Of course we should protect children.

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.

Neutral

Depending on your belief system of God and ordained institutions, yes that has been the tradition. If those in the public do not believe in these institutions but would like the financial and practical functions of a marriage relationship afforded to traditional couples, then I accept the legal judgements. It does not affect the status of traditional couples. People want to be considered a family. Same sex couples have existed for Millenia and have always been part of the human condition.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

Voting for someone because of their spiritual beliefs has become a capstone for some. For me my relationship with God has changed over the years. I was raised a Catholic and very devout. I studied different theologies and studied the Bible. I had time as a Seventh Day Adventist with more study of the Bible. No matter what a person studies, that spiritual connection should evolve. Religion has created division among even those who are Christians. I am more about deeds these day. More about caring as a human for humans and the planet that we are stewards of. I promote caring for our bodies as a temple. Food rather than chemicals. Vote for me because I can be a good steward. I can make sound decisions.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

Voting absentee by mail ballot should be limited to those meeting at least one of the following criteria: 1) 65 years of age or older on Election Day, 2) sick or disabled, 3) expecting to give birth within three weeks before or after Election Day, or 4) confirmed to be absent from the county of registration during voting.

Strongly Disagree

I lived in States that had total mail in ballots for many years and everyone loved it.

EQUALITY

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

Raised with the idea that black people are not capable of being as intelligent as white people is a bad idea. My parents decided that it was a bad idea. A couple of children in my Christian neighborhood could not play with me because my parents said prejudice was not what God had in mind. We are a white family that had dead birds thrown on our porch, gross phone calls, and we were in a safe white middle class place. Yes racism is painful for the society and fear causes societal demise.

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Agree

Agree because our concepts about race, just as our social concepts about God and women's capabilities are evolving. We no longer chain people up; we allow women to vote and hold ownership of property. Discussing CRT with unknown viewers is silly in that it takes a lot of study even to understand what it encompasses. We all have biases. CRT is a theory, one of many social theories. Teaching about our past will not hurt. Teaching that we made mistakes and we are better now is good. Not divisive.

Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.

Neutral

I have little opinion as have never encountered the situation. Any trans women would go in a stall so I would never know.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Which comes closest to your view? (Select all that apply) A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost. C) Stricter environmental laws undermine U.S. energy independence and deter development of reliable electricity sources. D) Climate change is real and requires urgent policy action.

None of these make sense. esp. C. Lots of new jobs are developing that increase our energy independence which is so important. Climate change is real and obvious to biologists, microbiologists, meteorologists, agriculture, even without the big fires and floods. working toward energy independence is important. Reducing methane and carbon emissions will crate better air and less medical problems even for those who don't believe in climate change. Cleaning up the "forever chemicals" will help.

ABOUT YOU

What do you think is the general purpose of government?

Geepers this is long. Government creates a framework for a population to coexist with so sort of order. Some governments do this well and people are happy and some are bad and oppressive. We live in a fabulous free country. Not perfect but pretty good.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.

No. I did work in a few Federal Prisons examining the guards for Pulmonary function so they won't pass out or have a heart attack while wearing a large respirator.

Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.

NO

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Lean Liberal

I personally am a minimalist. I am financially frugal. I care about being well and having others be well or be open to learning about it.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

I support redirecting funds from police departments to community programs.

Neutral

Depends. Mental Health Domestic situations could use as special police force to do better with that.

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

Just have people be responsible to lock them up esp. around teenagers that are bullied, or your toddler or 4 year old. I think the AR15 types are not necessary and ruin the organs of anyone or animals that they hit. Talk to an ER Doctor, they hate them. Lock them is secure cases.
