QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?
Elective abortions should not be allowed. I am unapologetically pro-life.
Chemical abortion drugs should meet essential safety standards (such as in-person consultation with a medical doctor) and require reporting to gather evidence on reactions and outcomes.
Strongly Agree
I am against chrmical abortion drugs being allowed.
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Strongly Agree
I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Strongly Disagree
All human life is precious and should be fought for.
ECONOMY
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
What is your position on the minimum wage?
To the average citizen, it is never enough, but minimum wage hikes increase unemployment, reduce hours worked, increase the cost of goods and services, and harm small businesses. The market should dictate wages.
Should environmental and social issues, like ESG (environmental, social, and governance) ratings, be used as criteria in deciding where to invest public monies?
No
The goal should be to balance fiscal responsibility with prudent, forward-looking investment practices. Public monies should be invested in ways that are both financially sound and mindful of long-term risks, without unduly prioritizing non-financial criteria that may not align with the primary objective of maximizing taxpayer returns.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Under what circumstances can government close churches?
Never. I am a pastor, and I can tell you firsthand that the effect Covid shutdown regulations had on many churches was devastating and permanently shut down many churches and set back others years. I know some that,to this day have not recovered from pre-covid attendance.
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Strongly Disagree
Businesses should be able to operate within their religious beliefs and allow the free market to dictate their success.
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.
C) Government takeover of health care, like “Medicare for All” or a “Public Option,” only make things worse. We need to keep what works and fix what’s broken with the Personal Option. Long term I would like to see people not dependent on the government and get the government out of the healthcare industry.
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
The government shouldn't be able to require vaccines.
NATIONAL SECURITY
The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.
Strongly Agree
We should immediately take our businesses out of China and manufacture our goods in the United States for our national security sake.
Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?
Israel is our greatest ally in the Middle East and I believe they are God's chosen people. The Bible says that God will bless those who bless Israel. We should always stand with them.
IMMIGRATION
The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.
Strongly Agree
This is the greatest National Security threat we currently face.
EDUCATION
The state should fund education by allowing dollars to follow the child through programs which protect parents' freedom to choose their child's school – public, private, or homeschool.
Strongly Agree
Parents should be in the driver's seat of their children's education. I support public, private, parochial, micro-school, homeschool, and charter schools as viable forms of education, and I support the statewide call for school choice in Tennessee. Not only do I support this legislation, but I have been the most outspoken elected official and the only one who has voted for school choice in Montgomery County. I also published an Op-Ed on School Choice in our local media (Clarksville Now).
VALUES
Children are the most vulnerable members of society and must be protected from abuse, including gender ideology, grooming, and bodily mutilation.
Strongly Agree
I am the family pastor of Mosaic Church, and protecting children is one of my utmost concerns and responsibilities.
Parents should have the right to make decisions for their minor children.
Strongly Agree
Taxpayer funds should be used to provide gender transition services.
Strongly Disagree
Gender transition in minors should be criminal. We must protect our children.
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.
Strongly Agree
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I received Christ when I was 15 years old - the first in my family. 2 Corinthians 5:17 sums up what happened in my life, "This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!" Shortly after receiving Christ, I felt called to ministry. I went from High School to Bible College and have been in full-time ministry for 18 years. I believe you should be holy - living right when no one is looking. Integrity and character are essential. My whole life has been about serving people and when I got on the school board I realized the same passion I have for ministry I have for serving as an elected official. We need people of faith in these positions of leadership who will lead by their faith.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
States should join the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact which makes the Electoral College irrelevant.
Strongly Disagree
EQUALITY
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
I believe racism, in any form, is unacceptable. We must work to ensure that everyone has the chance to succeed based on their abilities and efforts rather than their race or background. While racism can contribute to domestic security threats, the solution lies in upholding the rule of law, promoting individual responsibility, and fostering a culture of unity and respect. Ensuring that all individuals are treated fairly and justly under the law is essential for maintaining domestic security.
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Strongly Disagree
CRT sets one race against another and is fundamentally wrong.
Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.
Strongly Agree
No male should be allowed in safe spaces for women or compete against women in sports. I am a huge supporter of women's sports and have championed them with my daughter who is a High School girls wrestler and flag football player.
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Which comes closest to your view? (Select all that apply) A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost. C) Stricter environmental laws undermine U.S. energy independence and deter development of reliable electricity sources. D) Climate change is real and requires urgent policy action.
A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. C) Stricter environmental laws undermine U.S. energy independence and deter development of reliable electricity sources.
What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?
Nuclear energy provides a stable and continuous supply of electricity.
ABOUT YOU
Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.
Never
Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.
Never
What do you think is the general purpose of government?
The general purpose of government is to provide structure and organization to society, ensuring order, security, and the well-being of its citizens. Government should exist to serve these fundamental functions: Maintain order and security, protect rights and liberties, provide public services, promote economic stability and growth, administer justice, and represent the people.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Very Conservative
I have always been a conservative. My faith leads how I think and vote.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
I support redirecting funds from police departments to community programs.
Strongly Disagree
We need a fully funded and strong police force to have a strong and safe community.
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
Protecting public safety is a paramount concern, and it is essential to ensure that any restrictions on gun ownership do not infringe upon the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens. I believe Tennessee governs well on gun ownership and public safety.
Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?
Yes
It would be a major deterrent for an invader to go into a school if they are unaware of who is carrying a gun. This should be based on the teacher's desire to carry and for them to undergo the same training our Student Resource Officers undergo to ensure gun safety in schools.
