OTHER INFORMATION

QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.

Strongly Agree

I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.

Strongly Agree

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

I support Indiana law which allows an abortion only (1) when a pregnancy is a result of rape or incest, (2) when necessary to prevent a serious health risk of the pregnant woman or to save the pregnant woman's life, and (3) when a fetus is diagnosed with a lethal fatal anomaly.

ECONOMY

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.

Neutral

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Neutral

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

Indiana's Constitution requires the General Assembly to enact a balanced budget, and the State consistently enacts fiscally responsible, balanced budgets. All government spending must be examined in order to ensure taxpayer funds are wisely spent.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.

Agree

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Strongly Agree

I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.

Yes

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

The State should not enact any law which prohibits or infringes upon any person's right to exercise and practice the religion of their belief.

HEALTHCARE

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.

Disagree

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

The government should get out of the way of our healthcare. More competition in healthcare will lead to affordable and accessible healthcare for all.

NATIONAL SECURITY

The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.

Strongly Agree

IMMIGRATION

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Strongly Agree

State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.

Strongly Agree

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

The United States should be open for all who wish to come to our country to do so. However, the immigration system must ensure that all immigrants are properly vetted according to our nation's laws. Those who follow the legal processes to immigrate to our country should be allowed, and our immigration system must prohibit individuals who are convicted of heinous acts in their home countries from entering the U.S.

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality that is necessary for our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.

Neutral

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I live every day knowing that I can do nothing without Jesus Christ. I regularly pray that the decisions I make in the General Assembly will benefit not only my family but my community and State.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

The Electoral College should be abolished.

Strongly Disagree

EQUALITY

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

All people must be treated equal, no matter their race, and it is when individuals are treated differently based upon their race that domestic security is threatened.

ABOUT YOU

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

My voting history as a member of the Indiana House of Representatives from the 2024-2026 legislative sessions.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

I have served as State Representative since July 2023, and have authored or sponsored many bills which have become law. My experience as an attorney helps me to better understand the legislation that is enacted in Indiana and the effects each word in a bill will have upon our constituents.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

I reside in North Vernon with my wife, Kayla, and our son, Liam. We are members of Vernon Baptist Church. When not serving in the legislature, I am an attorney with a practice consisting primarily of criminal defense, municipal law (serving as counsel for many local government entities), estate planning and administration, and business transactions.

JUDICIAL PHILOSOPHY

I support the use of Sharia law as a basis for legislation and judicial decisions in the United States.

Strongly Disagree

2ND AMENDMENT

Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?

Yes

A teacher should be allowed to carry a firearm at school if the teacher chooses to do so.

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

Convicted felons and domestic batterers should be prevented from possessing a firearm. Otherwise, every individual should have the right to own a firearm if they choose to do so unless otherwise adjudged by a court of law.

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.

Disagree

Through my criminal defense practice, I see the effects of marijuana use and the gateway that it is to other illicit drugs. I understand the positive impact the legalization of marijuana (either medicinal or recreational) could have for the State's tax revenues, but marijuana policy should not be changed based on potential revenue alone.

In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?

I will continue to author legislation to improve our criminal justice system, including making sure our criminal penalties and sentencing schemes ensure adequate punishment and justice for victims, and to cut red tape to ensure our state and local government units can more wisely and prudently use taxpayer funds.
