QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

I believe that, because God created mankind in His image, all life is precious and must be protected. When we start defining the types of life that can be legally eliminated, we enter into a moral slippery slope, one in which the logical conclusion leads to a utilitarian view of life, and thus eugenics on the way to genocide.

What role should the school serve in helping a student with an unwanted or crisis pregnancy?

A school should, first off, involve the parent or parents in the issue as a matter of policy. Too often our schools have kept parents in the dark on issues involving their children, which only divides families and society. Because family is the building block of society, schools must as a matter of course bring the family into unwanted or crisis pregnancy situations. Beyond that, I am personally in favor of the school connecting students with helpful pro-life resources, but I realize that if the door is opened to these resources, it will inevitably be opened to pro-abortion resources as well in the name of "balance." So the school should focus on involving the family.

ECONOMY

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

Russel Kirk, in his 10 Conservative Principles, lays out this argument in principle 7, which I quote here: "conservatives are persuaded that freedom and property are closely linked. Separate property from private possession, and Leviathan becomes master of all. Upon the foundation of private property, great civilizations are built." I could not agree more, or say it better.

What is your position on government funding of public education from Pre-K through college?

I believe that local government has a role to play in funding public education from first grade through high school, as civic society benefits from having virtuous and well-educated citizens. I do not believe that government should fund pre-K or public college education. Early child formation should remain in the hands of the family and not be outsourced to the state prior to first grade. College is not necessary for citizen formation, and the funding should be left in private hands.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Teachers should be required to refer to students by pronouns which are misaligned with their gender at birth even if it would violate the teacher's moral and/or religious beliefs.

Strongly Disagree

I vehemently disagree with compelled speech in any format as an inevitable precursor to despotism and tyranny. Moreover, the clinical literature - much of which is coming from Europe, particularly the Scandinavian cultures - is showing that it is profoundly psychologically and medically damaging to children to affirm their mistaken belief that something is wrong with their biological bodies. Teachers should not be required to participate in this form of child abuse.

EDUCATION

Abortion and gender-affirming providers, including Planned Parenthood, should be a resource for instruction or services in the school.

Strongly Disagree

I believe that "gender-affirming care" is the wrong language to use and should be replaced with the phrase "child-damaging care." Moreover, this type of care and the Planned Parenthood apparatus work under a shared anti-human ideology, which, left unchecked, will lead to the mass sterilization of mentally troubled and / or gay children (a crime against humanity, according to the Genevan Convention) in the case of the former and the mass murder of the unborn in the case of the latter.

Consistent discipline creates a safe and orderly environment, which is essential for student learning.

Strongly Agree

Discipline and freedom are inextricably interlinked, and students must have safe and orderly environments in which to learn. Teachers must be empowered to create ordered environments and must be supported by board-led policies that reinforce teachers' efforts to discipline unruly students.

Do you believe print and digital material available or presented to students should be easily accessible for public review, including those without children enrolled in school?

No

Educators should give students a thorough education in America's founding documents and cultivate American patriotism.

Agree

In order to fulfill the proper role of education - to create virtuous and knowledgeable citizens capable of self-governance - we must educate students on the remarkable and special history of America and its impact for good in the world.

I support Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI).

Strongly Disagree

DEI is a neo-Marxist and anti-human ideology that divides our citizens and that has no place in modern civic society.

I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.

Strongly Agree

Please list in order the following priorities in relation to the role of a K-12 public school (omitting any that do not apply): American History, Art & Music, Civics, Critical Race Theory, Foreign Language, Gender Identity, Information Technology, Language Arts, Mathematics, Personal Finances, Physical Fitness, Political Activism, Science, Sexuality, Social Emotional Learning, Vocational Learning

1) American History; 2) Civics; 3) Mathematics; 4) Language Arts; 5) Science; 6) Art & Music; 7) Information Technology; 8) Foreign Language; 9) Physical Fitness; 10) Vocational Learning; 11) Personal Finances

The state should fund education by allowing dollars to follow the child instead of the bureaucracy, through a program which allows parents the freedom to choose their child's school – public, private, or homeschool.

Strongly Agree

Which should students have: equity of outcomes or equality of opportunities?

Students should have equality of opportunities. We have already seen the results of social experiments focusing on equality of outcomes in the former Soviet Union, Cambodia under Pol Pot, and modern-day Venezuela and North Korea. Focus on outcomes inevitably leads to the impoverishment of the masses, de-civilization, and tyranny.

Which type of written parental consent should be obtained before students are taught courses such as Comprehensive Sex Education (CSE)? (A) Opt-In. (B) Opt-Out. (C) None.

A. Opt-In.

VALUES

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a non-denominational evangelical Christian whose core beliefs are well summarized in the Westminster shorter catechism. Put simply, I believe that the chief end of man is to know God and glorify Him forever, and that our purpose as Christians on earth is to be and make disciples. Given the fight we have against secular neo-paganism, I'm also a proponent of ecumenism, as Christians of all stripes need to fight shoulder to shoulder in pushing back the darkness and redeeming our world and society.I hold dear the following time-tested values: 1) Justice; 2) Prudence; 3) Temperance; 4) Fortitude; 5) Faith; 6) Hope; 7) Love.

Who is responsible for teaching sexual education to children, and what is the appropriate age when it should be taught?

The family is responsible for teaching sexual education to children. In our family, we have followed a phased approach to education with our four children, starting at age ten (given the unfortunate exposure they have to sexual content across society) and running up through fourteen, in which we progressively introduce the topic with age appropriate content tailored to each year.

If you support the teaching of Sex Ed, please answer the following question: Sexual education should include these topics (list all that apply and add your own, if needed) -- abortion methods and side effects; abstinence; consent; contraceptive methods; human anatomy/the reproductive system; physical and emotional health outcomes; sex acts and pleasures of sex; sexual orientation and gender identity; stages of pregnancy and fetal development

I do not support the teaching of Sex Ed in our public schools.

Children have a right to reach maturity without chemical or surgical castration, which would damage their healthy bodies through surgeries and may cause infertility and a life-long dependence on cross-sex hormones.

Strongly Agree

The modern "gender affirming care" movement is not only anti-human, but also scientifically verified as completely unsound with horrific long-term consequences. Moreover, as the recent groundbreaking expose of WPATH has detailed, the child mutilators complicit in this maltreatment of children know full well that their prescriptions cause irrevocable harm and that children are not even fully capable of informed consent.

Children have the right to be protected from hypersexualization (including drag shows and explicit materials) in schools and libraries.

Strongly Agree

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman essential to the formation and sustaining of a civil and prosperous society.

Strongly Agree

One-man, one-woman marriage has been the foundation of civic society since time immemorial and is the first institution established by God in His created order. To try to redefine marriage in any other way is to remove one of the key pillars of ordered and prosperous society.

Parents have the fundamental right to raise their child in accordance with their beliefs and values, including the right to make decisions about the child's education and healthcare.

Strongly Agree

Parents must have these rights, as the alternative is to replace parents with the overarching state - a creeping authoritarianism which can only weaken the bonds of community and society.

Parents should have full and timely access to any and all records, including school and medical records, associated with their minor children.

Strongly Agree

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

We do not allow people onto airplanes without photo identification, and air travel is far less foundational to our society than is the right to vote. Because this right is so sacred, we must ensure that it is not corrupted, and voting without photo identification fundamentally corrupts this right.

EQUALITY

Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports.

Strongly Agree

As a father of three daughters, I find the push to normalize men in women's sports abhorrent, dangerous, and diametrically opposed to women's rights.

Biological males should not be allowed to occupy women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, women's shelters, prisons, or sororities.

Strongly Agree

Again, as the father of three daughters, we should never allow biological males into the safe spaces we have created for women. To do otherwise is to knowingly expose women to violence and sexual assault.

ABOUT YOU

Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.

No.

Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.

NO.

I voted in these primaries and general elections:

2020 Republican Primary 2022 Republican Primary

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

I adhere to the following 10 principles, as outlined by conservative Russel Kirk: 1) There is a transcendent moral order; 2) I adhere to custom, convention, and continuity; 3) I believe in prescription - honoring time tested tradition; 4) Leaders must be prudent; 5) Society will always have variety; 6) Humankind is NOT perfectible; 7) Freedom and private property are linked; 8) Voluntary community is vital; 9) Human passions must be restrained; 10) Change and permanence must be reconciled.

2ND AMENDMENT

Faculty who are licensed to carry and have had ongoing training should be allowed to carry guns at school in order to respond to an active shooter situation.

Strongly Agree

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

In the event of a pandemic, school districts can mandate whatever health precautions they deem necessary (including masks and vaccines) to protect students and staff.

Disagree

Schools should have some level of flexibility to craft policy, but they should not be able to mandate arbitrary precautions they deem necessary without the support of the parent community.
