CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
I support redirecting funds from police departments to community programs.
Strongly Disagree
I believe it is my Christian duty to support community organizations instead of the government. I was a Volunteer Firefighter 1982-92. I observed and worked with Deputies, State Troopers as well as Municipal Police. I worked with Law Enforcement on their day off organize missing person searches and also seen law enforcement show , do the paperwork and lave leaving the fire department fight a house fire and direct traffic around the fire trucks and the firefighters.
iVoterGuide Notes:
Candidate notified iVoterGuide that her answer should have been, "Strongly Disagree (I support redirecting funds from police departments to community programs). I believe that Law Enforcement needs to be funded to provide training, equipment and technology to serve and protect. I encourage use of drug day court to deal with addiction instead of being incarcerated."
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
I don’t have any restrictions unless already restricted. The 2nd amendment protects from confiscation our guns. I would like to encourage more training.
iVoterGuide Notes:
Candidate notified iVoterGuide that her answer should have been, " The second amendment protects our gun ownership. There are enough regulations regarding restrictions on buying various types of guns and how much ammunition. I praise the WV Legislature for protecting our rights even if it conflicts with federal regulations. I support Constitutional Carry and Campus Carry."
Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?
Yes
If properly trained and if the teacher agrees.
