QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Disagree

Planned parenthood supplies women’s healthcare.

Chemical abortion drugs should meet essential safety standards (such as in-person consultation with a medical doctor) and require reporting to gather evidence on reactions and outcomes.

Neutral

Not familiar with this issue.

Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?

Life of mother, rape, incest, early portion of pregnancy.

Does the federal government have a role to play in limiting abortion, and if so what federal steps and/or federal legislation would you support?

There is a judicial doctrine called stare decises which is Latin for let the decision stand. It is a conservative doctrine and the rationale for maintaining Row v Wade despite the fact that the underlying reasons for the original decision changed over time. For instance a child is viable earlier and earlier in a pregnancy if born prematurely with technology advances. The trimester framework while is arbitrary is a workable framework. Much like English drive on the left side of the road once a direction was chosen social order follows well without reason. California continues to follow Roe v Wade, so the impact of how the case was overturned federally isn’t as impactful here, but in some states there is chaos without a standard. Not allowing some abortions like with rape or incest seem extreme to me. Likewise abortions late in a pregnancy also seem barbaric. What exact period in-between these extremes is a difficult question to me. I would listen to perspectives other than mine

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

What Madison believed is true today. I attended both parochial and public schools and am now on a school board. We have choices in this great country! Let’s have awesome education!

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Neutral

It depends.

NATIONAL SECURITY

With regard to America's foreign policy, which view most closely resembles yours: A) The United States should intervene whenever freedom is threatened. B) The United States should selectively help countries trying to grow democracy and fight tyranny. C) The United States has become too involved in others' policies and should remain focused on issues regarding our own sovereignty unless in imminent danger. D) The United States should stay out of foreign conflicts completely.

B I support Ukraine and visited this country in 2019 before the war. This war turned everything black there.

The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.

Agree

China is a declining power. I agree with Peter Zehan’s view about China.

Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?

Yes by history but the ethnic cleansing in Gaza is beneath the humanity of this country. However I am very concerned about the actions of Iran and other countries in the region.

What are the causes of decline in U.S. military recruitment and retention?

I don’t agree our military is in decline, having served in it. Our military is awesome.

HEALTHCARE

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

Depends on the health risks of a particular virus. Present version of Covid —no. My mom is a retired nurse and there was a lot of debate in our family about this. I have been vaccinated.

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.

B. Very complex issue

ECONOMY

What actions would you take that would allow Americans to retain more of their income and wealth?

The gap between the extremely wealthy and the average citizen has grown to outrageous extremes. Those extremes are aided by monopolies which are economically inefficient.

Student loan forgiveness unfairly shifts the financial burden to those not responsible for student debt.

Disagree

Should environmental and social issues, like ESG (environmental, social, and governance) ratings, be used as criteria in deciding where to invest public monies?

Yes

Study is needed to understand the biological and electrical complexities to climate change and then it’s reasonable to then look at economic consequences.

IMMIGRATION

The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.

Neutral

The physical border is less important than immigration reform and how immigrants integrate with us once here.

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

Those who can, generally, make our country better.

EDUCATION

I support school choice, including voucher programs, tax credits, charter schools, private schools, and home schools.

Agree

I was liaison on the school board for 2 charter schools in our district as a board member of a public school and support their success. I would like to see IDEA fully funded by the federal government which mandates money spent on disabled students

I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.

Disagree

The federal government should fully fund IDEA. It mandates providing for disabled students but only funds it 40 percent

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

I support redirecting funds from police departments to community programs.

Disagree

I am a lawyer and presently work for a law firm Berg and associates. I support police and the DA and PD and the court system and all who work in it. We are so blessed in this country to have a legal system that works between all branches of government.

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

Current laws are pretty good.

JUDICIAL PHILOSOPHY

The Supreme Court should be reformed to include more seats.

Disagree

ABOUT YOU

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Moderate

Except for climate change where my views are radical.

What do you think is the general purpose of government?

For the public good, education and safety and the nation’s general welfare and defense.

Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.

No

Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.

No

VALUES

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.

Neutral

Children are the most vulnerable members of society and must be protected from abuse, including gender ideology, grooming, and bodily mutilation.

Neutral

Taxpayer funds should be used to provide gender transition services.

Disagree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

Catholic raised. Attended Christian high school and university and some public university. Spiritual. My father’s last words to me before passing from cancer, knowing me, was that there is no conflict between God and science. I am a Christian who argues that not only is there no conflict but Christianity is responsible as a faith for the great cultural, scientific and technological leaps in places around the world in modern history. I credit prayer in particular to my understanding about climate change and the serious public risks and dangers it poses.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Agree

It’s tradition.

The Electoral College should be abolished.

Disagree

Requires constitutional amendment to change.

EQUALITY

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Neutral

Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.

Neutral

My daughter was a college level athlete and I don’t think it would be fair for her to had to have to compete against a biological male athlete. That’s different than the bathroom issues. Gender identity issues have been shown by studies to be associated with autism. Schools should provide for disabled and it’s easy for the small number of students involved to have safe places for all students.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Man-made climate change is a global threat and requires urgent political action.

Strongly Agree

There is an ELECTRICAL and Biological complexity to this issue that isn’t discussed by the warmers or so called skeptics I have a YouTube channel on this topic under my name Michael Doran and the word “convergence”. Technology is rapidly advancing and then shining new light on unrelated kens.

What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?

The electrical and biological complexity must be addressed before the economic analysis can be completed. The state of the climate sciences are horrifying
