QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Strongly Agree
Chemical abortion drugs should meet essential safety standards (such as in-person consultation with a medical doctor) and require reporting to gather evidence on reactions and outcomes.
Strongly Agree
Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?
Rape, incest, and life of the mother.
Does the federal government have a role to play in limiting abortion, and if so what federal steps and/or federal legislation would you support?
Yes. In addition to making sure that taxpayer dollars are not being used, Congress should codify the Hyde Amendment and the Mexico City policy, so that these efforts are not subject to the who is specifically in power at the time.
ECONOMY
What actions would you take that would allow Americans to retain more of their income and wealth?
Reduce taxes, reduce the size of the federal government, and streamline regulation eliminating unnecessary federal interventions.
Student loan forgiveness unfairly shifts the financial burden to those not responsible for student debt.
Strongly Agree
Should environmental and social issues, like ESG (environmental, social, and governance) ratings, be used as criteria in deciding where to invest public monies?
No
Public entities owe it to their workers and the taxpayers to act as a fiduciary of public funds, and invest those dollars to achieve the highest return, not to advance social engineering goals. To the extent to that social goals are in the public interest, those goals should be advanced via direct public policy, not indirect efforts like how dollars are invested
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
A religious institution will not rule in the United States.
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Strongly Disagree
HEALTHCARE
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
Only the minimum number of vaccinations required to keep society as a whole safe should be mandated, and only after thorough testing and understanding of the risk and side effects.
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.
C
NATIONAL SECURITY
With regard to America's foreign policy, which view most closely resembles yours: A) The United States should intervene whenever freedom is threatened. B) The United States should selectively help countries trying to grow democracy and fight tyranny. C) The United States has become too involved in others' policies and should remain focused on issues regarding our own sovereignty unless in imminent danger. D) The United States should stay out of foreign conflicts completely.
C
The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.
Strongly Agree
The CCP is an adversarial of the United States who I'll take every advantage they can to exploit the US economy and diminish the US role as a global leader.
Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?
Yes. As someone who has worked with the Israeli Defense Forces in the past, I know from firsthand experience the dangers that they face on a daily basis. Israel is our ally, and they are a democratic island of stability in a region full of countries like Syria, Iran, and Yemen that have actively worked against the United States for decades.
What are the causes of decline in U.S. military recruitment and retention?
As the government has tried to impose social goals on to a force that should only be focused on fighting and winning wars, the US military has become a less desirable place for people to build a life. Additionally, as someone that has been deployed three times, the strain of deployments places a huge burden on our military families. As the United States was stuck in foreign entanglements in Iraq and Afghanistan, it became harder and harder to retain our best soldiers.
IMMIGRATION
The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.
Strongly Agree
A nations ability to secure its border is a clear indication of the nation's strength and health
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
As the son and grandson of refugees fleeing Communist Yugoslavia, I am very aware that coming to America is like receiving a golden ticket in life. However, we cannot let everyone into the country without screening. The current system is not only unsecure, but broken for those who are trying to go through it the right way. We need a points style system that quickly process individuals whose identities and backgrounds can be verified and who will help bring skills to the US economy.
EDUCATION
I support school choice, including voucher programs, tax credits, charter schools, private schools, and home schools.
Strongly Agree
I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.
Strongly Agree
VALUES
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.
Agree
Marriage is a religious institution. Governments can grant legal status to other types of partnerships, and the government really shouldn't even been in the business of mixing a civil process (legal recognition of couples) and a religious one (marriage).
Children are the most vulnerable members of society and must be protected from abuse, including gender ideology, grooming, and bodily mutilation.
Strongly Agree
Taxpayer funds should be used to provide gender transition services.
Strongly Disagree
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a devout Christian who believes in the inerrancy of scripture and trusts Jesus Christ as my personal Savior.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
The Electoral College should be abolished.
Strongly Disagree
EQUALITY
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Strongly Disagree
Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.
Strongly Agree
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Man-made climate change is a global threat and requires urgent political action.
Disagree
America needs significant investment in its energy system. Many people have seen increases in their energy bills. We can invest in modernizing our grid and building clean energy when these energy sources are competitive. If they have additional environmental benefits, that's great. While on city council, we have begun looking at adding renewable and battery storage to our municipal electric system, not because of the environmental benefits, but because it will save the city money.
What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?
America needs an all of the above energy strategy. I have no problem with supporting renewable energy when it is shown to be cost competitive, which includes the cost of adding supports to the grid to handle the fluctuations in electric production.
ABOUT YOU
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Conservative
What do you think is the general purpose of government?
The purpose of government is to protect the rights of individual liberty, private property and to ensure that all men and women are equal under the law.
Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.
No
Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.
No
JUDICIAL PHILOSOPHY
The Supreme Court should be reformed to include more seats.
Strongly Disagree
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
I support redirecting funds from police departments to community programs.
Strongly Disagree
Our police forces are already underfunded, and facing a recruitment crisis. They need more resources, not less.
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
Basic criminal background checks when purchasing a firearm at a store.
