QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Human life deserves legal protection from conception until natural death.
Neutral
I believe deeply in the value and dignity of human life. Where I differ with this statement is the idea that the government should control a woman's private medical decisions from the moment of conception. That decision belongs to her, her doctor, and her own conscience, not to politicians. The majority of this district voted for Amendment 4, and I agree with them. I also oppose the death penalty, so my respect for life is consistent across the board.
The lives of human embryos created through artificial methods ought to be protected from purposeful destruction.
Neutral
I support families' freedom to build their families, including through IVF, and I do not believe the government should insert itself into those deeply personal medical and reproductive decisions. Placing legal protections on embryos in a way that restricts IVF would hurt the very families working hardest to have children. These choices belong to patients and their doctors, not politicians.
Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?
An elective abortion should be allowed because the decision belongs to the woman, her doctor, and her own conscience, not the government. I support access up to viability, and beyond it when the life or health of the mother is at risk or there is a severe fetal anomaly. I understand people hold deep and differing moral and religious beliefs on this, and I respect that. But in a free country, no one should have their most personal medical decisions made for them by politicians. The majority of th
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Agree
Organizations like Planned Parenthood and Title X clinics are the front door to healthcare for millions of people, providing contraception, cancer screenings, STI testing, and prenatal care, often in communities with few other options. In my district, these clinics serve the Northside and Westside, where the need is greatest. Federal law already bars taxpayer dollars from directly funding abortion. Defunding these providers does not reduce abortion. It strips essential healthcare from the people
The Comstock Act, which bans interstate transportation of abortion-inducing drugs, should be enforced.
Strongly Disagree
The Comstock Act is a dormant 1873 law, and using it to block the mailing of legal, FDA-approved medication would be a backdoor national abortion ban imposed without a vote of Congress. I support protecting access to medication abortion and the FDA's authority to regulate it based on science. Reviving a 150-year-old anti-vice statute to override modern medicine and the will of voters is not something I support.
ECONOMY
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Agree
I agree. Free enterprise and private property are foundational, and I have spent my career helping businesses work better. Markets are the best engine we have for opportunity and innovation. What I believe is that they work best with fair rules and real competition, so the system rewards people who create value rather than those who rig it. Protecting free enterprise means keeping it free from the corruption and monopoly power that squeeze out small businesses and working families.
People who can afford to pay more taxes should do so in order to provide relief for working families.
Strongly Agree
I agree. For decades the tax burden has shifted onto working families while the wealthiest and largest corporations pay a smaller share than they should. That is not envy, it is math, and it is fairness. Working people are doing more and keeping less. Asking those who have benefited most to pay their fair share is how we fund the things that give everyone a real shot, and how we stop balancing the budget on the backs of the people who can least afford it.
The government should cut spending in order to reduce the national debt.
Agree
I agree we should cut wasteful spending, and I've spent my career finding and eliminating exactly that kind of waste. The Pentagon has never passed a clean audit, and contractor fraud drains billions. But we don't fix the debt by cutting alone, and we shouldn't balance it on the backs of working families by gutting healthcare, education, or Social Security. Cut real waste and ask those who've benefited most to pay their fair share. Do both, honestly.
List your top 3-5 priorities to eliminate government waste.
Audit the Pentagon and cut contractor fraud, over-budget weapons programs, and bloated overhead. It has never passed a clean audit. Right-size procurement, so agencies buy what they actually need instead of mass-produced excess. Close the revolving door between agencies and the industries they regulate, which drives waste and capture. End corporate subsidies and tax breaks that reward the powerful, not the public. Modernize outdated systems so services cost less and work better.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Neutral
This depends on the situation. A business open to the public should not refuse to serve someone because of who they are. That is discrimination, and I oppose it. At the same time, no one should be forced by the government to create speech that violates their conscience. The line is between denying a person equal service and compelling a specific message. I would protect both equal treatment and genuine freedom of conscience.
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
It means government cannot establish an official religion or force anyone to follow one, and it cannot stop you from practicing your faith freely. It protects religion from government and government from any one religion. To me it is one of our greatest freedoms, because it guarantees every American, of any faith or none, is equal before the law. I would defend both halves: no religious test for belonging here, and no government interference in how you worship. That balance keeps everyone free.
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.
My goal is guaranteed healthcare for every American, and I see Medicare for All as the most direct path there. I am also a pragmatist who spent 20 years fixing healthcare systems, so I will take real coverage gains now over a perfect bill later. Let anyone who wants public coverage have it, protect Medicare and Medicaid, negotiate drug prices, and fund community health centers. The goal is simple: no one goes without care.
