QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
What role should the school serve in helping a student with an unwanted or crisis pregnancy?
We have Guidance Counselors as well as Social Workers for students to talk to and offer support in notifying their parents, having support during this critical decision-making process is crucial to their well-being.
Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Strongly Agree
ECONOMY
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
It absolutely is. Free enterprise is what founded this country and made America what it is today.
What is your position on government funding of public education from Pre-K through college?
School systems desperately need financial support. For the amount it takes to operate a school system, with all the moving parts, from cleaning, feeding, transporting, educating children, as well as paying highly qualified staff, there is no way a public school system would be able to operate successfully without receiving tax dollars.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Teachers should be required to instruct students on mandated curriculum even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Agree
Teachers should teach the standard curriculum, and in no way should students know a teacher's moral, political or religious beliefs. Those are personal and should be kept as such. Any discussion and debating should be monitored by the teacher.
EDUCATION
Abortion and gender transitioning providers, including Planned Parenthood, should be a resource for instruction or services in the school.
Strongly Disagree
Those are family decisions and in no way have any bearing on reading, writing or learning math and science.
Consistent discipline creates a safe and orderly environment, which is essential for student learning.
Agree
Students need to understand there are rules and expectations to be followed and met in life. Children cannot learn in chaos, and that is the goal for school, to teach and learn with rigor.
Do you believe print and digital material available or presented to students should be easily accessible for public review, including those without children enrolled in school?
Yes
Schools are funded with taxpayer dollars, even Charter's. If it is a publicly funded school, then the taxpayer has every right to see and know what their monies are being spent on.
Educators should give students a thorough education in America's founding documents and cultivate American patriotism.
Agree
Students need to know and understand how this country was founded. It needs to be taught with accuracy of fact, not fiction or urban legend slants. It seems as time goes on, the more history seems to be less accurate and slanted viewpoints are projected.
I support Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI).
Agree
America is the most diverse country in the world, and you have to be able to navigate and understand all cultures to be successful. Some will disagree with this statement, however, all you have to do is look around you. America is a melting pot, it always has been, and to be successful you have to have the abiltiy to get along with others, even if you disagree.
I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.
Neutral
I would have to see what the funding challenges that would present.
If a member of the public flags (challenges) a book as inappropriate and the school board disagrees, should the board impose a moratorium on when the book can be challenged again? If yes, for how long?
There are controversial books on shelves, I am an avid reader, I think age-appropriate books are more the question. I am not one for banning books. I am for age-appropriate books. Books can be kept in a restricted section with check out available through your media coordinator. Some may require parental consent.
Please list in order the following priorities in relation to the role of a K-12 public school (omitting any that do not apply): American History, Art & Music, Civics, Critical Race Theory, Foreign Language, Gender Identity, Information Technology, Language Arts, Mathematics, Personal Finances, Physical Fitness, Political Activism, Science, Sexuality, Social Emotional Learning, Vocational Learning
Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, American History, Civics, Vocational Learning, Arts & Music, Information of Technology, however that would be filtered, throughout the curriculum, because students do their work on devices. Vocational Learning, Foreign Language, Physical Fitness.
The state should fund education by allowing dollars to follow the child instead of the bureaucracy, through a program which allows parents the freedom to choose their child's school – public, private, or homeschool.
Neutral
Parents have the choice to choose, at one time my daughter went to private school, the money didn't follow her. We paid her tuition; it was a family decision to send her there. It was what was best for her at that time. However, because we made the decision to send her to private school, that does not mean we stopped supporting public education.
Which should students have: equity of outcomes or equality of opportunities?
All students should have the same access to curriculum and technology support. All students should have access to a highly qualified, well- paid teacher that is supported.
Which type of written parental consent should be obtained before students are taught courses such as Comprehensive Sex Education (CSE)? (A) Opt-In. (B) Opt-Out. (C) None.
It should be Opt-In.
Who should make decisions about whether or not a book is appropriate for children? A) the elected school board members; B) an outsourced community committee
I think there should be a committee of parents, school board members, and a partnership developed with your local library. The Librarian, in your community library can advise you of trends, as well as parental involvement with their children and their book choices in your community. They can also help a school system navigate more controversial titles in their collection of books. Which would make it easier to build a restricted section where books could be obtained with parental consent.
VALUES
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I believe in God, I am a Christian. I believe in family and building relationships based on trust and respect.
Children have a right to reach maturity without chemical or surgical castration, which would damage their healthy bodies through surgeries and may cause a life-long dependence on cross-sex hormones.
Agree
Children's brains are not fully developed until they are in their 20's. It wouldn't be healthy for a child to eat chocolate as their main food source three meals a day, why would you even consider that they are fully aware of the consequences of chemical or surgical castration?
If sexual education is taught in schools, what is the appropriate age when it should be taught?
BASIC sexual education should be taught about the time puberty starts. More in a Health Class setting, the basics, your bodies are changing, time to start wearing deodorant, you may start seeing hair grow where it hasn't been. Very basic, very clear, very personal oriented about you and your body. Not a how to sex guide. I understand some parents are very uncomfortable talking to their children about sex and or their changing bodies.
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman essential to the formation and sustaining of a civil and prosperous society.
Agree
Parents have the fundamental right to raise their child in accordance with their beliefs and values, including the right to make decisions about the child's education and healthcare.
Agree
I absolutely agree, parents know their children better than anyone else.
Parents should have full and timely access to any and all records, including school and medical records, associated with their minor children.
Strongly Agree
There is not a reason in this world while a student's record should be kept from their parent or legal guardian.
School children have the right to be protected from sexual grooming including drag shows and explicit materials with pictures of sex acts and graphic language.
Strongly Agree
Sex, the act of sex is not in the school systems wheelhouse. It has no real place, other than a very general and scientific viewpoint in a health class. That is age appropriate once children are approaching middle school. There is absolutely no reason elementary students should be exposed to anything that has anything to with sex, sexual orientation, or transgender viewpoints.
Should schools be giving instruction on how to engage in sexual acts, the pleasures of sex, sexual orientation, and gender identity or should they instead focus on educating students about the science of reproduction?
The science of reproduction only in a Health Class or Biology setting only.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
No, they shouldn't. We show an ID at the bank, the pharmacy, you have to provide an ID at your doctor, when you fly, the hospital. I do not understand why this is such a big deal to show an ID.
EQUALITY
Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.
Strongly Agree
There is no way possible that a biological female can compete against a biological male fairly. No, they should not be allowed to compete or share spaces such as locker rooms, etc.
ABOUT YOU
Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.
No
Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.
No
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Conservative
2ND AMENDMENT
The right to bear arms is fundamental and must be protected.
Strongly Agree
It absolutely is. I grew up with guns in my household, my father, grandfather and brother were all hunters, as is my husband. We also have the right to protect our homes, property and family.
OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES
In the event of a pandemic, school districts can mandate whatever health precautions they deem necessary (including masks and vaccines) to protect students and staff.
Strongly Disagree
We have done this already, and we can see the damage that mandates have already done, both to healthy individuals with vaccines that were implemented too fast, and masking children has caused great emotional harm. We will not fully know the damages that have been done both physically to people and emotionally for years to come. Since the pandemic the entire dynamic has changed and it has not been for the better.
