QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

What role should the school serve in helping a student with an unwanted or crisis pregnancy?

The school needs to help the student to be able to continue her education by offering on-line / independent study classes as needed by the student as she deals with her pregnancy and young parenting. If the student is having trouble with child care, the school counselors and administrators can help guide the student toward appropriate child care opportunities. The school counselors can also provide supportive counseling to the student and her parents, and connect the student with other social services as needed. This is a very difficult time for the student and family, and the school needs to rally as much support and services as possible.

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

The only reason to choose to end a new life is if the life of the mother is at stake. Otherwise, for mothers who do not want to keep their babies, there are agencies that can help with the adoption process and plenty of parents earnestly desiring to adopt a child.

ECONOMY

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

The other option is socialism, which is a great ideal (everyone does what they can and receives what they need), but it never actually works in the real world. Instead it encourages everyone to do the least that they have to and try to get the most that they can, without ever working for it. And it leads to poverty for everyone.

What is your position on government funding of public education from Pre-K through college?

I agree with public funding of education from Pre-K through high school. After that, if a person wants to pursue higher education, they should pursue their own means to achieve that. Community college is a great means to inexpensively complete the first two years of a 4-year college degree or pursue a vocational degree/program. Also, the government has extensive programs to provide financial aid and low interest loans for students to attend college.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Teachers should be required to instruct students on mandated curriculum even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Neutral

The caveat is that the mandated curriculum should cover the basics of reading, writing, math, science, and history/social studies skills and knowledge, and I can't imagine how that is inconsistent with anyone's moral or religious beliefs. Mandated curriculum should never require teaching morally repugnant and divisive ideologies, and if it does, teachers need to be able to stand up for what's right (traditional values).

EDUCATION

Abortion and gender transitioning providers, including Planned Parenthood, should be a resource for instruction or services in the school.

Strongly Disagree

Planned parenthood is the biggest provider of services to kill babies on this earth. As if that's not enough, they have now moved into the fantasy world of telling children that they can change their biological sex, and providing gender mutilation services to children who are desperately in need of emotional support and counseling.

Consistent discipline creates a safe and orderly environment, which is essential for student learning.

Strongly Agree

Schools need a good, consistent discipline policy. Students need to know that misbehavior is not appropriate and serious violations, including bullying, violence, drugs and alcohol, will absolutely not be tolerated. At the same time teachers need to teach respect, and model respect to their students. Teachers and schools need to work with parents to support their efforts to help their children to grow up to be compassionate, respectful adults.

Do you believe print and digital material available or presented to students should be easily accessible for public review, including those without children enrolled in school?

Yes

Parents have the greatest investment in the welfare and education of their children, but even those members of the community who are not presently parents are still citizens who pay taxes to support schools, and all want to see children grow into responsible, educated adults.

Educators should give students a thorough education in America's founding documents and cultivate American patriotism.

Strongly Agree

The founding ideals (documents) of this country are the most amazing in the history of nations. They provided the best foundation for the creation of a positive, productive nation, and any struggles we have as a nation come from getting away from the intent of our nation's founding fathers.

I support Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI).

Strongly Disagree

DEI is a great sounding term for a very destructive movement. Taken individually, the words are great. We should appreciate diversity, be fair and equitable to all, and include others. But the terms have been hijacked to create a movement that supports putting people into a position because of sex or skin color or other external factors that have no relation to their skills, character or abilities. This movement also supports and pushes for acceptance of repugnant, immoral ideologies.

I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.

Agree

The Dept of Education came up with a great slogan, "no child left behind", but unfortunately the slogan is not realistic. Maybe it should be "no child forgotten". Other than a slogan, I can't think of anything they have accomplished that cannot be accomplished by the individual states, at a terrible cost to our budget. Their sometimes liberal agenda has often been more harmful than helpful.

If a member of the public flags (challenges) a book as inappropriate and the school board disagrees, should the board impose a moratorium on when the book can be challenged again? If yes, for how long?

I believe the school board should accept and rule on every challenge, whenever it is made. I don't believe the school board should set a time frame within which a concerned member of the community cannot bring his/her concerns to the board.

Please list in order the following priorities in relation to the role of a K-12 public school (omitting any that do not apply): American History, Art & Music, Civics, Critical Race Theory, Foreign Language, Gender Identity, Information Technology, Language Arts, Mathematics, Personal Finances, Physical Fitness, Political Activism, Science, Sexuality, Social Emotional Learning, Vocational Learning

Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, American History, Civics, Information Technology, Physical Fitness, Vocational Learning, Health Education, Personal Finance, Foreign Language, Arts & Music. The other subjects do not need or should not have a place in a school curriculum.

The state should fund education by allowing dollars to follow the child instead of the bureaucracy, through a program which allows parents the freedom to choose their child's school – public, private, or homeschool.

Agree

I agree, but it's easier said than done. If there's one school better than all the rest, everybody can't go to the one school. Homeschooling sounds great but it is actually very difficult, and certainly not all parents can be successful at that. Really, the best alternative is to improve struggling schools so that all students are well serviced.

Which should students have: equity of outcomes or equality of opportunities?

The great ideal is for students to be given equality of opportunity. What they do with it is up to them. What affects equity is a person's skills and how hard they try. The current liberal view is to grant equity to those who do nothing to earn it. Under that view, I should be allowed to be a basketball player because I really want it, despite being old, slow, and unskilled.

Which type of written parental consent should be obtained before students are taught courses such as Comprehensive Sex Education (CSE)? (A) Opt-In. (B) Opt-Out. (C) None.

If part of a Health class, Opt-Out. It should not be a stand alone subject.

Who should make decisions about whether or not a book is appropriate for children? A) the elected school board members; B) an outsourced community committee

It should be the elected school board members with parent representation. You don't want to outsource these decisions to people who are answerable to nobody.

VALUES

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I believe that God created this world and everything and everyone in it, and out of His love and kindness, chose to involve himself in our human existence. He did this first by speaking to/through people/prophets who were set apart, and finally through His own Son, Jesus Christ. I believe that God has ordained His word to us (the Bible) and believe that everything therein is authoritative and true. Jesus Christ lived, died for our sins, and rose from the grave to offer us eternal life, if we put our trust and faith in Him. I try to follow His word and live directed by Him. Even in these turbulent times, I believe that God answers prayer and has a plan for our lives and this earth. He will return to judge the world and bring us home.

Children have a right to reach maturity without chemical or surgical castration, which would damage their healthy bodies through surgeries and may cause a life-long dependence on cross-sex hormones.

Strongly Agree

Not only do children have the right to reach maturity without being sexually mutilated, i believe that parents have the responsibility to protect their children from such practices. Studies show that such practices only harm children's mental health, instead of helping it.

If sexual education is taught in schools, what is the appropriate age when it should be taught?

I believe that it should be offered in junior high on a limited basis to females who are undergoing changes, including starting their periods. In high school it should be an elective course, approved by parents.

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman essential to the formation and sustaining of a civil and prosperous society.

Strongly Agree

After the creation of men and women, the first institution God created was marriage. Marriage between a man and a woman is a vital part of healthy families and a healthy society.

Parents have the fundamental right to raise their child in accordance with their beliefs and values, including the right to make decisions about the child's education and healthcare.

Strongly Agree

Absolutely. Parents have the fundamental right and directive by God to raise their child in accordance with their beliefs and values, including the right to make decisions about the child's education, healthcare, and involvements. Parents have the primary responsibility to teach their children moral values and values of hard work and love and acceptance of others.

Parents should have full and timely access to any and all records, including school and medical records, associated with their minor children.

Strongly Agree

That is absolutely true in every case.

School children have the right to be protected from sexual grooming including drag shows and explicit materials with pictures of sex acts and graphic language.

Strongly Agree

Drag shows have no place in a school setting, and neither does pornography or obscenity, whether on line, in textbooks, or in library books.

Should schools be giving instruction on how to engage in sexual acts, the pleasures of sex, sexual orientation, and gender identity or should they instead focus on educating students about the science of reproduction?

The answer to that question is so very obvious. Instructions on how to engage in sex, the pleasures of sex, sexual orientation, or changing gender identities never have a place in any kind of school, public or private.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

Photo ID is required for driving, gun purchasing, flying, any out of country travel, proving who you are at the post office, and any number of other things. It would be ridiculous to not have to show who you are and establish your right to vote and your duty to vote once for yourself. That is the only way we protect against corruption in our elections.

EQUALITY

Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.

Strongly Agree

To subject women and young girls to people walking around them naked with men's body parts should be a form of sexual abuse. Men in women's sports carry a physical advantage that is unfair to all women, It feels like a plot to ruin women's sports.

ABOUT YOU

Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.

No, never.

Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.

No, never.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Very Conservative

I do want to oppose the characterization held by some that conservative means a warmonger in foreign matters. As a staunch conservative, i believe we should stay out of other countries' conflicts, especially when those conflicts were brought on and exacerbated by stupid threats from our leaders (as in the case of Ukraine.) I'm also not in support of Ukraine's current dictator any more than I am the Russians.

2ND AMENDMENT

The right to bear arms is fundamental and must be protected.

Strongly Agree

It is guaranteed by the second amendment of our Constitution. I understand there are limits. People should not be allowed to go around carrying grenades or RPG's, and we have laws against automatic weapons. But the basic right to bear a firearm is part of the fabric of this nation.

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

In the event of a pandemic, school districts can mandate whatever health precautions they deem necessary (including masks and vaccines) to protect students and staff.

Strongly Disagree

As stated earlier, parents must have the final say over their children's education and healthcare. If parents recognize the lack of efficacy and in fact danger of masks, and prescribe that their children will not wear them, that decision must not be sabotaged. And no one should have the right to tell anyone what they must inject into their bodies. I understand the need for childhood vaccines, but respect parents who do not want to participate.
