QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
What role should the school serve in helping a student with an unwanted or crisis pregnancy?
The school should not serve in any role other than notifying parents/guardians of a minor child’s pregnancy. Additionally I support options for alternative learning opportunities for teen parents to obtain their high school diploma.
Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Strongly Agree
As a Christian, I believe that life is a precious gift from God that begins at conception and should be protected at all stages.
ECONOMY
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
What is your position on government funding of public education from Pre-K through college?
I absolutely believe in government funding of pre-k through high school. However, I do not believe in college loan debt forgiveness. Individuals who elect to go to a 4 year college or university should be responsible for that choice and the repayment of any loans accrued. As a graduate of a vocational certificate program (Basic Law Enforcement Training) I believe that there should be more emphasis and funding for trade schools and vocational programs.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Teachers should be required to instruct students on mandated curriculum even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Strongly Disagree
Teachers should not have to violate their religious tenets which is protected by the first amendment.
EDUCATION
Abortion and gender transitioning providers, including Planned Parenthood, should be a resource for instruction or services in the school.
Strongly Disagree
Planned Parenthood, which is a private provider with an extreme liberal agenda, should not offer services to a public school.
Consistent discipline creates a safe and orderly environment, which is essential for student learning.
Strongly Agree
Consistent discipline cultivates respect for teachers and staff. An environment with discipline also improves retention among faculty.
Do you believe print and digital material available or presented to students should be easily accessible for public review, including those without children enrolled in school?
Yes
I believe that parents, tax payers and stakeholders should have the right to inspect the materials provided to the students.
Educators should give students a thorough education in America's founding documents and cultivate American patriotism.
Strongly Agree
Students should be able to have a firm knowledge on the United States Constitution, understand the three branches of government and clearly know the sacrifices that have been required for the freedoms that we have.
I support Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI).
Strongly Disagree
DEI should not be taught to either students or staff in any form.
I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.
Strongly Agree
I believe that states should oversee their own curriculum and have total authority over their schools. This will allow the people of that state to have control of their educational system and it will hold states accountable for the success of their students.
If a member of the public flags (challenges) a book as inappropriate and the school board disagrees, should the board impose a moratorium on when the book can be challenged again? If yes, for how long?
I successfully advocated for changes in our media policy that previously required a 5 year minimum waiting period for a book to be challenged again. I recommend a 2 year period.
Please list in order the following priorities in relation to the role of a K-12 public school (omitting any that do not apply): American History, Art & Music, Civics, Critical Race Theory, Foreign Language, Gender Identity, Information Technology, Language Arts, Mathematics, Personal Finances, Physical Fitness, Political Activism, Science, Sexuality, Social Emotional Learning, Vocational Learning
From least to greatest: Foreign Language, Art & Music, Physical Fitness, Information Technology, Personal Finances, Science, Language Arts, Civics, American History, Mathematics, Vocational Learning
The state should fund education by allowing dollars to follow the child instead of the bureaucracy, through a program which allows parents the freedom to choose their child's school – public, private, or homeschool.
Strongly Agree
School choice forces schools to compete with other schools and districts to keep their students and funding. School choice also provides opportunities for students with special needs who may not have the services that they require in their school district.
Which should students have: equity of outcomes or equality of opportunities?
equality of opportunities
Which type of written parental consent should be obtained before students are taught courses such as Comprehensive Sex Education (CSE)? (A) Opt-In. (B) Opt-Out. (C) None.
(A) Opt-In. No response by parents would automatically prohibit the student from participating.
Who should make decisions about whether or not a book is appropriate for children? A) the elected school board members; B) an outsourced community committee
B) An outsourced community committee comprised of parents and stakeholders.
VALUES
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I have accepted Christ as my personal Savior. I believe that the only way for salvation is through Jesus Christ alone, by grace through faith. I believe that as a follower of Christ that I should try to live a life that is pleasing to Him and represent my faith to the best of my ability.
Children have a right to reach maturity without chemical or surgical castration, which would damage their healthy bodies through surgeries and may cause a life-long dependence on cross-sex hormones.
Strongly Agree
Children are not mature enough to make life altering decisions. Children often make choices based on their peers and culture without realizing the consequences of their actions.
If sexual education is taught in schools, what is the appropriate age when it should be taught?
I believe that sexual education should be taught in accordance with the current State law GS 115c-81.30.
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman essential to the formation and sustaining of a civil and prosperous society.
Strongly Agree
I believe in the Biblical view of marriage which is a divine institution and loyal partnership between one man and one woman united together as one by God.
Parents have the fundamental right to raise their child in accordance with their beliefs and values, including the right to make decisions about the child's education and healthcare.
Strongly Agree
I fully support the rights of parents to make decisions for the children in accordance with their beliefs.
Parents should have full and timely access to any and all records, including school and medical records, associated with their minor children.
Strongly Agree
Parents should not be denied any records associated with their minor children.
School children have the right to be protected from sexual grooming including drag shows and explicit materials with pictures of sex acts and graphic language.
Strongly Agree
I have successfully advocated for the removal of pornographic books in our schools' media centers which had no educational value.
Should schools be giving instruction on how to engage in sexual acts, the pleasures of sex, sexual orientation, and gender identity or should they instead focus on educating students about the science of reproduction?
Sex Education should only focus on educating students about the science of reproduction. Any sex education should also follow NC General Statute 115C-81.30 which requires schools to teach the importance of abstinence before marriage.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
Photo ID is a necessity to prevent voter fraud.
EQUALITY
Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.
Strongly Agree
Biological males in women's sports creates a significant unfair advantage for the males. Biological males in female restrooms, women's shelters, prisons, etc. also creates opportunities for sexual assaults to occur. I firmly believe that biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports nor have access to women's spaces.
ABOUT YOU
Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.
No
Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.
No
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Very Conservative
My faith is the foundation for my world view. My faith in Christ has developed who I am today and motivates my service for others.
2ND AMENDMENT
The right to bear arms is fundamental and must be protected.
Strongly Agree
I believe that the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.
OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES
In the event of a pandemic, school districts can mandate whatever health precautions they deem necessary (including masks and vaccines) to protect students and staff.
Strongly Disagree
I believe that the wellness and safety of children is top priority. However, I also believe in medical freedom with the right to refuse to be vaccinated or forced to wear masks. Both have potential severe medical risks.
