OTHER INFORMATION

Troy Tarazon completed Ballotpedia's Candidate Connection Survey in 2023.

No "action" data points, just statements on website/social and in survey. Phrased the rape/incest/life of the mother exceptions a bit differently, "in the case of crimes against women and extreme circumstances that put the mother's life in jeopardy." Also believes money should be sent to Planned Parenthood so there will be a safe environment to take care of the abortions in those circumstances. Answers on separation of church and state and on same-sex marriage were also problematic. I agree with LnC.

QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Disagree

Abortion is a topic that is very complex and there is no clear direct answer. I am pro-life but also believe the option should be available in the case of crimes against women and extreme circumstances that put the mother's life in jeopardy and could be saved. Without proper funding, there might not be a safe environment to accomplish this effort.

Chemical abortion drugs should meet essential safety standards (such as in-person consultation with a medical doctor) and require reporting to gather evidence on reactions and outcomes.

Strongly Agree

Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?

I am pro-life and believe abortion is only an option if a crime was committed against a woman or in extreme circumstances to save the mother's life.

Does the federal government have a role to play in limiting abortion, and if so what federal steps and/or federal legislation would you support?

I do believe the federal government plays a role in limiting abortion and I will take steps to ensure the only reasonable option for choosing this would be to save the mother's life or if a crime against a woman was committed.

ECONOMY

What actions would you take that would allow Americans to retain more of their income and wealth?

I will fight to lower the gradual tax brackets for Americans and not punish single filers for making substantial amounts of money. We need to cap our maximum tax bracket at probably half of what it is now, which is 37%.

Student loan forgiveness unfairly shifts the financial burden to those not responsible for student debt.

Agree

This again is a topic that isn't as clear as yes or no, student loan debt, including interest rates are much too high. The cost of an education shouldn't cause someone pursuing a degree to be in debt for a significant time after they graduate. Medical students probably incur the largest amount of debt, and this is unacceptable. We shouldn't be negating the debt; we should lower the cost of education and if a loan is required make it more affordable. We also should look at more accessible grants.

Should environmental and social issues, like ESG (environmental, social, and governance) ratings, be used as criteria in deciding where to invest public monies?

No

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

Precisely without elaboration, it means to keep government out of religion and keep religion out of government. I can understand this to an extent and because of our 1st Amendment rights, we must respect all religions and not enforce one belief over another. Your personal beliefs will guide you in both church and state.

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Strongly Disagree

I don't know exactly what services or businesses this question is eluding to, but how can you force someone to comply with something outside of their values or beliefs in a business environment? Even more specifically in a free enterprise economy, we cannot force a business to do what they don't want to do outside of law.

HEALTHCARE

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

NONE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.

B - Healthcare funded by the government such as Medicaid and Medicare and private healthcare options for anyone willing or able to participate. This is our current system and it works. I am all for exploring ways to work with states to expand Medicaid and make government options more accessible and affordable without increasing the cost to taxpayers unnecessarily.

NATIONAL SECURITY

With regard to America's foreign policy, which view most closely resembles yours: A) The United States should intervene whenever freedom is threatened. B) The United States should selectively help countries trying to grow democracy and fight tyranny. C) The United States has become too involved in others' policies and should remain focused on issues regarding our own sovereignty unless in imminent danger. D) The United States should stay out of foreign conflicts completely.

B - with caveats. We are a superpower and should help other countries fight tyranny. The caveat is that we cannot do this at our peril. When we help others we have to do it humanely, with a responsible fiscal plan (no blank checks and accountability), and a plan to maintain our sovereignty and ensure our allies' success.

The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.

Strongly Agree

China is our #1 threat to our country. They spy, steal intellectual property, and reproduce our military "secrets." They try and penetrate, with much success, our cybersecurity domain, which is a warfighting domain. They expand their military influence globally because of our weakened foreign policy and lack of resistance, which brings vulnerability closer to our doorstep.

Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?

Yes, Israel is one of our greatest and oldest allies. They have fought tyranny for thousands of years and others always want their people eliminated from existence. This is not tolerable, the Bible says, "I will bless those who bless you, and curse those that curse you."

What are the causes of decline in U.S. military recruitment and retention?

Weak Commander-In-Chief, weak senior leadership, woke training to appease societal trends, politicization, lack of focus on standards, and winning wars.

IMMIGRATION

The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.

Strongly Agree

If we have a southern border that isn't secure, we don't have legal immigration and we have an influx of crime and a self-inflicted humanitarian disaster. I am 100% for immigration, I married an immigrant and started a family with one and my grandparents are from Mexico. But I am not for a border that allows millions of illegal immigrants to enter without proper processing or following our laws.

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

Anyone who isn't a known terrorist or on a terrorist watch list should be allowed to immigrate to our country, following the laws outlined that my family and I abided by to have my wife eventually naturalized.

EDUCATION

I support school choice, including voucher programs, tax credits, charter schools, private schools, and home schools.

Strongly Agree

I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.

Strongly Agree

VALUES

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.

Neutral

I am a heterosexual man married to a woman and believe this is how God intended marriage to be. However, I support love and who am I, who is the government, to say you shouldn't marry someone that you love?

Children are the most vulnerable members of society and must be protected from abuse, including gender ideology, grooming, and bodily mutilation.

Strongly Agree

Taxpayer funds should be used to provide gender transition services.

Strongly Disagree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I believe in God and know he is our Savior and the only way to see Him again in heaven.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

We 100% need voter identification, not only for identification but for citizenship.

The Electoral College should be abolished.

Strongly Disagree

Without the Electoral College we wouldn't have a Republic.

EQUALITY

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Strongly Disagree

This is exactly one reason why racism will always perpetuate, we need to accept the fact that racism was the fundamental cause of the Civil War and racism exists today. But saying that the United States is fundamentally racist is a divisive and disgusting ideology that will only continue to divide us and not let us heal and move forward toward acceptance not based on skin color.

Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.

Strongly Agree

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Man-made climate change is a global threat and requires urgent political action.

Strongly Disagree

I believe people can be better stewards of our planet and have a responsibility to improve life for all generations to come. But the societal trend of climate change is a guise to socially influence our world to do things we wouldn't or shouldn't normally do in a rational society.

What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?

Nuclear

ABOUT YOU

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

What do you think is the general purpose of government?

To provide security for the nation and reliable and necessary services to its citizens.

Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.

NO

Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.

NO

JUDICIAL PHILOSOPHY

The Supreme Court should be reformed to include more seats.

Strongly Disagree

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

I support redirecting funds from police departments to community programs.

Strongly Disagree

Our law enforcement are in low numbers already and are faced with death daily in the name of service to the community. We need to support our law enforcement with funding, resources, and recruiting. We also owe our citizens accountability of our law enforcement agencies as well as our criminal justice system. It is one thing for law enforcement to do their job, but we must also have a fair and responsible justice system to enforce the laws.

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

The only restrictions on firearm ownership that make any sense are background checks and suitable age to purchase. No registration, no weapon limitations, and no permit to purchase or conceal/carry. We need to stop encouraging "gun free" zones, this is counterproductive and creates ridiculous soft targets and invitations for criminals. Let us all remember, no matter what gun law we enforce a criminal will ALWAYS get a firearm if they want to use it in a crime.
