RIGHT TO LIFE
Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?
I'm Pro Life, but in the case of a Mother's Life at Risk, Rape or Incest, it should be granted if the mother wants the abortion. I feel more discussion needs to done, because Doctors and Hospitals are not clear on the law.
Chemical abortion drugs should meet essential safety standards (such as in-person consultation with a medical doctor) and require reporting to gather evidence on reactions and outcomes.
Disagree
The chemical abortion drugs come from outside the country. I haven't seen any research done to see what harm has happened to the women using these drugs. This medicine has been available at the abortion clinics, but my research showed there was no medical follow-up by the doctor to ascertain if the women returned to a normal state of health.
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Agree
The abortion issue has been returned to the states. By law it is now up to the states to choose their own course of action. There are states whose citizens support abortion and agree to use tax dollars to pay for them. The State of Texas is not one of them. The people who support abortion will create organizations and funds to help those who want abortions. I support life and helping women make better choices.
I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Neutral
I don't agree or disagree. I have seen some cases where death would be a blessing for those suffering, however, I think that these decisions need a lot of discussion. In the end, it has to be the decision of the person dying and their family. I can see clearly where "aide in dying laws" could be abused.
ECONOMY
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
We like to think that we actually own our home or a piece of property, but try not paying the taxes and the government will foreclose. The current government has spent so much money and created the Inflation that is causing small business and families to struggle. Free Enterprise is an economic system where the market, not the government, determine prices, products and services. It's the American way.
What is your position on the minimum wage?
Everyone has to make a decent living, however, the state economy needs to be considered. People need jobs, but a higher minimum wage can cause businesses to let employee go to stay open and yet maybe eventually have to close. Ex. California
Should environmental and social issues, like ESG (environmental, social, and governance) ratings, be used as criteria in deciding where to invest public monies?
No
Environmental, social and governance is shorthand for an investing principle that prioritizes how the money is spent. While EGS does make a positive impact in some organizations, It needs to have more transparency, standardization, and disclosure to enable accurate assessments for better decision making.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Under what circumstances can government close churches?
NONE. What we learned in Covid, is the government let bars stay open but not churches! The church members could not even meet outside! There was a lot of government abuse. " Never again" is the mantra of the American people against Big Government.
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Disagree
No. They should not be required to go against their morals and/or religious beliefs. America is a big place. We are generally a live and let live society, but I think that some people have something else to prove. Why would you put yourself into a position to be rejected? There are many other places to spend your money and get the respect you want.
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.
Everything keeps moving towards Government healthcare. Canada and most of Europe have their universal healthcare, which amounts to nothing. Poor people die waiting for surgery, while the wealthy have treatment immediately. I experienced Universal care in France and it was not good. This is why the ones that can afford it, fly to America for surgeries. We should keep our private insurance, Medicare, Medicaid., SSI, snap, and other healthcare benefits. Universal Healthcare is not the way to go.
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
The vaccinations given to new babies and K-12 for students in school have years of being testing. Protecting the children is important to me. Covid is another story. I think Big Government and Employers overstepped their boundaries.
NATIONAL SECURITY
The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.
Strongly Agree
The CCP .have bought properties all over America next to our military bases to spy and observe our military. They own thousands of acres for farming food. We have close to 100 Chinese nationals in our country, all combat ready, and nobody knows where they are; Chinese are in embedded in Washington D.C., tech companies, corporations and colleges. They are building ports for smaller warships in Africa, South America, Panama, and Cuba. America is at risk and so is our children's future.
Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?
United States of America was the first country to recognize the State of Israel. Since the 1960's, the American Israeli relationship has grown into a mutually beneficial alliance in economic, strategic and military aspects. The U.S. provides strong support for Israel. Some of our high tech products are invented and designed in Israel, making American companies more competitive and profitable globally. We share democratic values and united by our commitment to Democracy and regional security.
IMMIGRATION
The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.
Strongly Agree
Our country is very vulnerable. We are living in a troubled world, where our enemies would love to see our demise. We have lost over 100,000 young people to Fentanyl and Texas is the number 1 state in child trafficking. Crime is out of control. We need to finish building Trumps Wall, add more Border Patrol agents and close the border for a time to evaluate and deport the criminals in our country. We should use the National Guard if necessary to gain control of our all 4 of our borders.
EDUCATION
The state should fund education by allowing dollars to follow the child through programs which protect parents' freedom to choose their child's school – public, private, or homeschool.
Neutral
The vouchers allow children caught in a bad school to move to a private school or homeschool. They can only go to a private school if accepted. It's ironic that every large city in Texas has failing schools. Why? Bad teachers, the lack of leadership, lack of parental or community involvement. These schools have the" Lion's share of money," but nothing to show for it. The children are the losers.
VALUES
Children are the most vulnerable members of society and must be protected from abuse, including gender ideology, grooming, and bodily mutilation.
Strongly Agree
Our children's brain is not mature until they reach the age of 26. They absolutely need to be protected. The U.S. needs to follow England in making it illegal for a doctor or hospital to bodily mutilate a child.
Parents should have the right to make decisions for their minor children.
Strongly Agree
Taxpayer funds should be used to provide gender transition services.
Strongly Disagree
Children should not be subjected to gender transition services. They are too young to make this decision. We are already seeing negative results from children who are now teenagers striking out against what was done to them. The surgeries are irreversible!
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.
Agree
I'm a Christian and I believe a marriage is God-ordained between one man and one woman. The government's authority is made up of people that the American citizens voted and elected to office. If that government majority decides to alter the above decision and you don't like it, then your voice can be heard in the next election.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I'm a life long Christian and was a member of First Baptist Church McKinney growing up, and I have been a member of First Baptist Dallas for many years. I believe in God, Jesus Christ and His teachings. I'm very respectful and I treat others as I would like to be treated. I'm not judgmental of people, I accept them as they are. I love my family (the center of my life); I love my friends and neighbors. I use my education and wisdom to make good decisions. I've always been honest and have great compassion for the struggles of others. I have great joy in helping others and problem solving. I receive each day as a blessing to be enjoyed. I start with a prayer for my family and for those who need extra prayer. Then I'm good to go.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
I would like the State to make a State Photo ID for everyone. It ensures we have good elections.
States should join the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact which makes the Electoral College irrelevant.
Strongly Disagree
There's a reason for the Electoral College. It makes a state, no matter how big or how small relevant at election time. Everybody has a voice. That was the intention of our Founding Fathers.
EQUALITY
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
Yes. We have groups that keep feeding the hate. America is not a perfect country, but we have come a long, long way down this road. Unity is the word we want to use. No matter our skin color or religion, We are all Americans. Unity makes our country strong and racism tears it apart. We need to keep moving forward, not looking back. America is a beacon of freedom. If America fails, there's not another place in the world that offers the freedom and opportunities we have in America.
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Strongly Disagree
I think a lot of people that continue to push CRT are making money off this nonsense. They need to put the energy they spend on this, and start teaching the children what a great country America is and that its a place where they can make all their dreams come true. These children need to learn the basics of education to prepare them for the future. If they can't read, write and do math, they have no future. They are America"s future.
Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.
Strongly Agree
It took women years and a long fight to get Title 9 passed that gave women athletes the right to equal opportunity in sports in educational institutions that receive Federal Funds, from elementary schools to colleges and universities. Then the Woke movement decided that a man could become a woman and participate in women sports and use the same locker rooms. The men in the sports organizations were finally able to strip women of their rights. We have visibly seen the damage done to women.
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Which comes closest to your view? (Select all that apply) A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost. C) Stricter environmental laws undermine U.S. energy independence and deter development of reliable electricity sources. D) Climate change is real and requires urgent policy action.
C
What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?
Oil and fracking are dependable. Solar is not dependable, plus China makes all the solar panels.
ABOUT YOU
Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.
NO
Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.
NO
What do you think is the general purpose of government?
To make and enforcing laws, collecting taxes, providing goods and services, and representing the interests of the people
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Conservative
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
I support redirecting funds from police departments to community programs.
Strongly Disagree
The police departments of America have been under attack for the last few years. They already have a problem recruiting new officers. They need better training, equipment and a decent salary. The Police have literally put their life on the line every day helping citizens and keeping them safe. I feel they all need raises for the hell they have had to deal with. Without our police officers, we would be living in a jungle of crime.
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
NONE. We don't have a gun problem. We have gangs and a plethora of people with mental illness. The gangs need to be in prison. The mentally ill need help. Most of these young shooters were in dysfunctional homes. The parent or guardians let them buy guns or they had guns in the house that were "not locked up". These parents or guardians knew these young people had problems, or maybe they just didn't want to deal with their situation. So somebody died.
Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?
Yes
Only if they choose to carry a gun. If they are not comfortable with a gun, then a designated person or persons should be the ones with the gun. I absolutely hate that our kids are targets in school today. I would feel safer if I had a child in school knowing that if a shooter showed up at the school, that someone could stop them immediately.
