QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?

In 2018, the American Medical Association's (AMA) Journal of Ethics called all medical professionals to stop using the word phrase "elective abortion" because it is not a truly recognized medical term and is mostly used in a pejorative and political manner. I was a registered medical professional at that time and I stopped using the word phrase, and replaced it with "ordinary abortion," which is the vast majority of abortions, which are more often than not done at early gestational ages.

Chemical abortion drugs should meet essential safety standards (such as in-person consultation with a medical doctor) and require reporting to gather evidence on reactions and outcomes.

Neutral

I am not that too familiar with chemical abortions to be able to form a meaningful opinion on it. I asked women in my life if they had any personal knowledge of chemical abortions and none had any personal experience to share with me to assist with my lack of knowledge.

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Disagree

Planned Parenthood provides a wide array of services that are covered by federal funding, where ordinary abortions care is just one. So, completely defunding the organization in such a manner is unjust and inequitable.

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Neutral

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Under what circumstances can government close churches?

Any church that seeks and receives federal 501(c)3 status is subject to federal laws that could lead to a revocation of that status which may result in the closing of such church. I do not know of ANY other circumstance where a government would have the power to legally close a legitimate church, or any other place of worship.

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Neutral

If those individuals and businesses are providing services directly to the public, those individuals should be subject to some government regulation to preserve the public health, safety, and welfare for the public good. If this circumstances exist, then my answer is yes.

NATIONAL SECURITY

The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.

Strongly Agree

Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?

I see evidence of its current importance and I do not truly understand why it is such. WIth both the International Criminal Court and the International Court of Justice recently issuing ruling against the State of Israel, including findings that it is an apartheid state and that the current military operations amount to genocide, the U.S.-Israel relationship is very problematic right now.

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.

The United States is the ONLY civilized nation that does not offer some level of universal healthcare. It is also the ONLY nation in North America that does not. As a former medical professional, I have seen with my own eyes the ramifications of this status that the U.S. has chosen for itself. So, A and C most closely match my view on healthcare.

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

I am currently unsure what the correct answer is for the general public, and I would defer to public health experts. I do know what it is for me and my family. But I really would like to do more study into the peer-reviewed public health research.

ECONOMY

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

What is your position on the minimum wage?

Minimum wage is an outdated corporate-centered approach. I like the human-centered ALICE framework for determining a livable wage. ALICE means "Asset-Limited Income-Constrained Employed." EVERYONE who works should be able live a productive life.

Should environmental and social issues, like ESG (environmental, social, and governance) ratings, be used as criteria in deciding where to invest public monies?

Choose not to answer

If a meaningful majority of the voters decide that that is the way that they want to collectively invest their public monies, that is all that needs to be discussed and respected. This is a matter that the people should vote on. The legislature should stand down.

IMMIGRATION

The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.

Agree

EDUCATION

The state should fund education by allowing dollars to follow the child through programs which protect parents' freedom to choose their child's school – public, private, or homeschool.

Neutral

I take exception to the idea that vouchers are about what is become termed and packaged as "parental freedom" by the proponents of vouchers. However, if this budget-exploding concept must be done there must also be a requirement that ANY non-public institution accepting those public dollars must be held accountable to the same rules and standards. No matter what the school, ALL students need to be measured by the SAME minimum standards to ensure that ALL citizens can compete once they graduate.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

I support redirecting funds from police departments to community programs.

Agree

When you study crime statistics closely, you find that the most effective thing that police do is crime prevention. So, when we reimagine public safety as an interlocking component with public health, public welfare, and public education, you get the opportunity to see that the exploding budgets of police departments, when compared to the ever-shrinking budgets of health departments, welfare departments, and education departments, is not a wise public investment. It is time that we reevaluate.

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

Everyone must first be willing to come to the table and have a truly honest and transparent discussion about this before this question can be answered.

Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?

No

I am a former teacher, both in public and private setting. I do not know how this can be done in a manner that is in the best interests of the public health, safety, welfare, and education.

ABOUT YOU

Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.

No.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.

No.

What do you think is the general purpose of government?

Government is supposed to be designed and implemented for the public good to ensure that everyone within its jurisdiction gets the resources required to ensure that every individual has the minimally agreed upon level of food, clothing, shelter and education.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Choose not to answer

I do not recognize the binary system of conservative and liberal as being logically meaningful. What best describes my political worldview is "human-centered." I believe that there is no true conservative vs. libel argument that we such be investing any significant about of time or energy on. Instead, I believe that we really need to be thinking about the American pluttocracy vs. the American democracy dichotomy and the profits vs. the people dichotomy. This where our American salvation lies.

VALUES

Children are the most vulnerable members of society and must be protected from abuse, including gender ideology, grooming, and bodily mutilation.

Neutral

Had question read "Children are the most vulnerable members of society and must be protected from abuse," I would have answered STRONGLY AGREE. However, this question is written in with an ideological slant that is intentionally divisive and it places some children's need for protection over others.

Parents should have the right to make decisions for their minor children.

Agree

Taxpayer funds should be used to provide gender transition services.

Neutral

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.

Neutral

Since the beginning of civilization, there have always been two different and separate types of marriage: government (legal) marriages and church (sacred) marriages. This question pretends that the two are actually one unified marriage weighted heavily in favor of the church marriage worldview which, according to some scriptures, is God-ordained.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Neutral

The ownership of a photo ID does not necessarily guarantee electoral security, which is a multi-faceted process where the photo ID does not necessarily play a largely significant role, comparatively speaking. I believe that each and every American who is legally eligible to vote such be provided an equitable opportunity to fulfill that civic duty within a fair and just electoral integrity apparatus that welcomes their participation, which, I believe, should be required.

States should join the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact which makes the Electoral College irrelevant.

Strongly Agree

EQUALITY

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

In 2021, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Department of Homeland Security issued a joint report, I believe pursuant to the Terrorism Reporting and Classifying (TRAC) Act of 2019, that definitively stated that racially-motivated violence by self-proclaimed white supremacists is the most significant domestic terrorism threat in the United States. Since the FBI and the DHS have more resources and expertise in law enforcement than I when dealing with this matter, I defer to them.

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Neutral

I have actually attended some of the law school/graduate level theoretical study classes known as Critical Race Theory which examines how and why racism is interwoven into the American fabric. If the question changed out the word "fundamentally" with the word "structurally," I would choose STRONGLY AGREE. Only a very small number of Americans even number what CRT truly is. Yet, the performative anti-CRT movement uses people's fears and ignorance to score political points.

Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.

Neutral

If you had asked "Biological males and females should not be allowed to participate in women's or men's sports, respectively, or occupy biological women's or men's spaces, respectively," then this question would be meaningful and taken as a serious position to discuss and debate.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Which comes closest to your view? (Select all that apply) A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost. C) Stricter environmental laws undermine U.S. energy independence and deter development of reliable electricity sources. D) Climate change is real and requires urgent policy action.

B & D

What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?

I believe that our energy sources must become and remain diversified.
