QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Strongly Agree
Planned Parenthood should not get one penny from taxpayers.
Chemical abortion drugs should meet essential safety standards (such as in-person consultation with a medical doctor) and require reporting to gather evidence on reactions and outcomes.
Strongly Agree
Abortion drugs should have to comply with high standards to assure safety to the same extent as other drugs with serious consequences.
Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?
I am pro-life. The Dobbs decision correctly overruled Roe v. Wade, returning authority over abortion to the states. I oppose taxpayer funding of abortion and federal bills to “codify” Roe and allow abortion up to delivery. I support NC’s law banning elective abortion after 12 weeks. I support the right of states to ban all abortions or provide only exceptions for threats to the life of the mother, rape, and incest. Crisis pregnancy centers must be protected.
Does the federal government have a role to play in limiting abortion, and if so what federal steps and/or federal legislation would you support?
I oppose federal bills to codify Roe and nullify state restrictions on abortion. The Dobbs decision correctly overruled Roe v. Wade, returning authority over abortion to the states. Federal law should completely ban the use of federal funds for abortion or for promoting abortion in the U.S. or abroad. No federal agency, including the military, should give vacation time or pay any expenses for abortions. I support federal bills that would protect pro-life crisis pregnancy centers. Politicized prosecutions of pro-life volunteers and advocates must be stopped.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
The First Amendment prohibits the establishment of a state religion. The First Amendment also guarantees the free exercise of religion. Exaggerated interpretations of the establishment clause can inhibit the free exercise of religion. For instance, students should not be prohibited from bringing bibles to school, using school facilities for religious clubs, or voluntarily praying with their coach after a game.
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Strongly Disagree
Businesses are correctly prohibited from refusing to serve customers on the basis of race and other categories included in public accommodation laws. But they must not be required to provide goods and services that contradict their religious beliefs.
NATIONAL SECURITY
With regard to America's foreign policy, which view most closely resembles yours: A) The United States should intervene whenever freedom is threatened. B) The United States should selectively help countries trying to grow democracy and fight tyranny. C) The United States has become too involved in others' policies and should remain focused on issues regarding our own sovereignty unless in imminent danger. D) The United States should stay out of foreign conflicts completely.
C) We must avoid endless wars with poorly defined objectives. We must insist that our allies pay their fair share for defense. We must revitalize our military by eliminating wokeness and maintaining standards. China is our top security threat.
The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.
Strongly Agree
The Chinese communists are bent on world domination. We must revitalize our military and improve our technology to be prepared for the threat they pose. We must stop appeasing them when they send spies and spy balloons, threaten shipping lanes, and steal intellectual property. We must reduce our dependency on them by revitalizing our manufacturing and mining. Ban sale of U.S. land to proxies of the Chinese communist party.
Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?
Yes. In 1948, the U.S. was the first nation to recognize Israel. Since then, we have had a bipartisan moral commitment to the defense of Israel against repeated attacks from extremists and terrorists. No one on earth has a stronger historic claim to the land they occupy than the Israelis. Hamas and other radical Islamists say they want to destroy Israel and eliminate the Jews. Now the radical Democrat base is turning against Israel. The U.S. must stand by Israel or no one else will.
What are the causes of decline in U.S. military recruitment and retention?
The U.S. Military has been the finest and most effective the world has ever seen. But recently, leftists in Congress and in the Pentagon undermine readiness with social experiments, wokeness, and DEI. Discharging soldiers who refused the Covid vaccine was wrong. Lawyer-written rules of engagement have endangered troops and soldiers have been unfairly prosecuted. Biden’s generals have treated patriotic soldiers as extremists. We must reverse these policies and make military readiness paramount.
HEALTHCARE
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
Vaccines should only be required, with certain exceptions, for persons in close contact with others (schools, hospitals, etc.) and only if the vaccine has a proven history of safety and effectiveness in preventing transmission of a serious disease.
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.
C) The only way to reduce health care costs is competition. Obamacare forced many health insurers out of business and forced people to get government insurance. Reforms should (1) eliminate requirements to buy coverage people don’t need or want; (2) incentivize private insurance offered across state lines, including co-ops; and (3) gradually reduce government subsidies so that private plans can compete. Reforms to Medicare must not reduce benefits to those in or close to retirement.
ECONOMY
What actions would you take that would allow Americans to retain more of their income and wealth?
To reduce inflation: End runaway federal spending. Balance the budget. Ease the regulatory burden. Return to energy independence. Taxes: Make the Trump tax cuts permanent. Defund 87,000 new IRS agents.
Student loan forgiveness unfairly shifts the financial burden to those not responsible for student debt.
Strongly Agree
Biden’s illegal student loan forgiveness, with a price tag in the hundreds of billions, was struck down by the Supreme Court. Yet he continues to circumvent the law of the land. There should be no broad forgiveness of college loans that force working Americans who either did not amass college debt or repaid their loans to pay the voluntary debts of others.
Should environmental and social issues, like ESG (environmental, social, and governance) ratings, be used as criteria in deciding where to invest public monies?
No
ESG ratings should not be used to regulate investment of pension funds.
IMMIGRATION
The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.
Strongly Agree
We must return to the successful Trump immigration policies. Finish the wall. Secure the border. Revive remain-in-Mexico. Defund NGOs that promote illegal immigration. Enforce E-verify. Follow the law by ending Biden’s abuse of asylum and parole. The law says that anyone entering illegally shall be deported. Do it. Withhold federal funds from states and cities who will not cooperate with federal immigration enforcement.
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
We must reform our laws regarding legal immigration in our national interest. No developed nation needs mass immigration beyond society’s capacity to assimilate. Have a merit-based system. End chain migration. Thoroughly vet applicants. The purpose of immigration is not to make the U.S. more like the countries people are coming from.
EDUCATION
I support school choice, including voucher programs, tax credits, charter schools, private schools, and home schools.
Strongly Agree
Parents must be empowered to get their children out of failing schools and into ones that will provide a sound education. We must stand up to the teachers’ unions who want to protect their monopoly. Parents are entitled to schools that will teach the basics (reading, writing, math, science, history) to their children rather than indoctrinating their children with leftwing ideology. It does not help children to stoke racial divisions or teach them to hate their country.
I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.
Strongly Agree
I support eliminating the Dept. of Education. But if that department’s staff and functions are simply moved to other cabinet departments, little will be accomplished. We need to eliminate needless and counterproductive regulation of state and local schools. This should begin with reinstating regulatory reform done during the Trump era that was reversed by Biden.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
I support redirecting funds from police departments to community programs.
Strongly Disagree
Defunding the police has had a devastating effect. Crime is skyrocketing. We must restore respect for police and other first responders. It will take more resources, not less, to recruit and train the police officers we need to stem the crime wave. We must restore confidence in federal law enforcement agencies by rooting out the politics. Prosecutors who use their office to pursue their political foes rather than prosecuting real crimes must be removed.
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
We need to punish the felons and aliens who illegally possess guns and criminals who use guns in their crimes, instead of taking rights away from law-abiding gun owners. Biden is trying to restrict the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding gun owners while ignoring violent crime. In Congress, I will work to preserve our rights and hold violent criminals accountable.
JUDICIAL PHILOSOPHY
The Supreme Court should be reformed to include more seats.
Strongly Disagree
Court-packing is an outrageous attempt to politicize the Supreme Court. Even Ruth Bader Ginsberg warned against it. It’s disgraceful that many of today’s congressional Democrats support it.
ABOUT YOU
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Very Conservative
What do you think is the general purpose of government?
The primary purpose of government is to assure the rights of its citizens to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. The federal government must protect our national security. Government at all levels must assure the rule of law, civil order, protection of private property rights, and the safety of its citizens.
Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.
No.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.
No.
VALUES
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.
Strongly Agree
Marriage is the union of one man and one woman. Governments at all levels must respect people’s right to adhere to this belief.
Children are the most vulnerable members of society and must be protected from abuse, including gender ideology, grooming, and bodily mutilation.
Strongly Agree
I support bans on sex-change surgeries and puberty blocking drugs for minors. These are ghastly experiments not supported by science. At school, young children must be protected from pornography and the promotion of certain sexual practices and transgenderism. Even for teenage students, it is not the job of educators to promote their personal ideas about sexuality and gender. Sexual abuse of children and child pornography must be vigorously prosecuted.
Taxpayer funds should be used to provide gender transition services.
Strongly Disagree
Government should neither fund nor promote the surgeries and drugs pushed by advocates of transgenderism.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, Born of the Virgin Mary, Suffered under Pontius Pilate, Was crucified, dead, and buried. He descended into hell; The third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, And sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; From thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; The Holy catholic Church, the Communion of Saints; The Forgiveness of sins; The Resurrection of the body, And the Life everlasting.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
Voter ID is basic to the integrity of elections. Mail-in balloting is inherently prone to error and encourages fraud. It should be reserved for people unable to vote in person. Security rules, such as signature verification, must be strictly observed. No drop boxes. No private funding of elections. Early in-person voting periods should be limited to two weeks prior to election day. Voting rolls must be kept up to date. All aspects of election process must be transparent.
The Electoral College should be abolished.
Strongly Disagree
EQUALITY
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Strongly Disagree
I disagree with CRT. American institutions are not fundamentally racist.
Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.
Strongly Agree
Sports teams and private spaces for women and girls must be protected from biological males claiming to be female. This is not difficult. It’s a matter of fairness, safety, and common decency.
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Man-made climate change is a global threat and requires urgent political action.
Disagree
The climate has changed continually during the history of the Earth. Man’s activity likely has some influence on climate but the extent is not clear. Many scientific scholars who believe that man’s activity is causing warming nevertheless reject the notion that there is a climate crisis or emergency. They advise that net-zero policies won’t work and will hurt both the developed and the developing world.
What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?
We need an all-of-the-above energy policy. So-called renewables are not sufficient to sustain our economy. We need fossil fuels for the foreseeable future. Develop modernized nuclear power. Eliminate govt. subsidies for ineffective energy sources.
