QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Disagree

These are not questions for government. The Constitution grants no authority to legislate when life begins or ends. Only twice has personal autonomy been stripped in this country, as a slave, and as a convicted criminal. The government has no authority to add a third category. Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness are individual rights. Not state decisions.

Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?

These are not questions for government either. The Constitution grants you no authority to legislate when life begins or ends. Those decisions belong to the individual, their family, their faith and their doctor. Not the state.

Human life deserves legal protection from conception until natural death.

Neutral

I believe we can provide for people from conception through death. However, until a fetus can survive outside its mother's womb, she has total and complete authority over her body.

The lives of human embryos created through artificial methods ought to be protected from purposeful destruction.

Disagree

Families who created these embryos through deeply personal and often painful decisions have total and complete authority over them. The Constitution grants you no authority to override those choices. Government does not belong in that room.

The Comstock Act, which bans interstate transportation of abortion-inducing drugs, should be enforced.

Strongly Disagree

The Comstock Act is 150 years old. Enforcing it today would criminalize medications doctors legally prescribe, including for miscarriage care. That is government inserting itself between a patient and her physician. She has total and complete authority over her body. The Constitution grants you no authority to interfere with that.

ECONOMY

What is your position on the minimum wage?

Employees should not require assistance to survive. A minimum wage matters, but I stipulate that if a company fails to pay their employees enough to live on, that company should be taxed to provide the additional supplements.

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Agree

Free enterprise does not mean free to make profits at the expense of all else.

List your top 3-5 priorities to eliminate government waste.

Term limits Open bidding on government contracts Published itemized spending reports freely available.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

That government is secular and makes decisions based on fact without regard to religious or spiritual beliefs.

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Agree

Government is secular and makes decisions based on fact without regard to religious or spiritual beliefs. It's not government's job to try to legislate morality. As Thomas Paine said, there is a difference between government and society.

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.

I'm closest to B. I believe there should be a public option for Healthcare to include, dental, vision, mental. But in a single payer version without an insurance agency acting as a middle man. Private options can still exist and even insurance companies. There would be no billing and no payment for those using the public option.

The government should keep a database of people with various ongoing medical illnesses to assess the economic burden of treatment.

Strongly Disagree

Your medical history is not the government’s business. A database that tracks illness to assess economic burden treats people as liabilities, not citizens. The Constitution grants you no authority over that information. It belongs to the patient and their physician.

NATIONAL SECURITY

The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.

Neutral

The same can be said about every country and private corporation.

Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?

We have enough on our plate here at home without involving ourselves in perpetual foreign strife. Arkansas families come first.

IMMIGRATION

I support the existence of sanctuary cities to protect undocumented persons.

Neutral

The concept defeats itself. All cities in this nation should be following the Constitution. That means all people receive the same human rights. Regardless of city.

EDUCATION

I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.

Strongly Disagree

Just as with healthcare, there should be a fully funded public option for education. This means for as much or as little education, that they, as a person desires throughout their life.

Foreign governments should be prohibited from funding American education.

Strongly Agree

We should not be using foreign funds for anything to do with our government. Outside of normal trade.

VALUES

Government should recognize and support the fundamental right and essential duty of parents to direct their child's health and educational well-being.

Agree

Parents hold primary authority over their children’s health and education. Government supports that. It does not supplant it. That means fully funded public schools and accessible healthcare, so every parent has real options regardless of income. Not just those who can afford alternatives. Parents will not always get it right. That is part of the human condition. Imperfection is not grounds to remove authority. The answer is to ensure they have the resources to exercise it.

Attempts to physically or socially transition a child to the opposite sex constitute child abuse.

Strongly Disagree

The government has no right to weigh in on topics of personal bodily autonomy. The Constitution grants you no authority here either.

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.

Strongly Disagree

Marriage is a contract and predates religion. This is none of the government’s business. The Constitution does not grant the government permission to weigh in on human life decisions.

I support the expansion of gambling in my state.

Strongly Agree

Again, the government's failed attempt to legislate morality.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

It's not relevant, as we are all taking an oath to the Constitution. That is the governing document. But if you must know, I am unconcerned with such things. But, I don't believe anyone knows what is going on.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Neutral

Government should provide every citizen a single card. This card would be your Social Security, healthcare, and voter ID all in one. However, it must be totally and completely free. The moment it costs even a penny, it becomes a poll tax. That is unconstitutional and am a strict Constitutionalist.

EQUALITY

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Disagree

We need to stop thinking in terms of race. I believe we need to provide jobs, opportunities, healthcare and education to all. We are all American. I would like descriptions of people based on a skin tone scale from light to dark. Like we do with eye color or hair color. We need to stop self-segregation. Love thy neighbor.

Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.

Neutral

This is not government business. School boards and private sports organizations set their own rules. If those rules don’t fit you, that is part of life. I acknowledge that can be hurtful. Life is not always fair. But government has no authority to mandate what teams a private organization must provide. No school is required to create a bowling team because someone wants to bowl. Fix my potholes, stay out of my life.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Man-made climate change is a global threat and requires urgent political action.

Strongly Agree

Indisputable

What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?

Renewable.

ABOUT YOU

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Lean Liberal

These labels are the problem. George Washington warned us in his farewell address that political factions would divide and destroy this nation. He was right. I don’t govern by ideology. I govern by the Constitution. That is the only label that matters. I am a strict Constitutionalist who fights for working people — and proud to do it as a Democrat.

Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.

No

Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.

No

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

What should be the goal of the criminal justice system?

To enhance the lives of citizens by respecting their rights and maintaining human dignity while protecting the common welfare. To always remember that everyone in this country is innocent until proven guilty.

Government has a responsibility to protect children from sexual exploitation during online activities.

Neutral

The internet is public. The government should not be infringing on a public forum. However, the government does need to keep the public informed and well aware of the dangers. Just Say No from the 80s actually worked. So did Brain on Drugs. Education changes behavior. Censorship doesn’t.

Sharia law should not be accepted or incorporated in any form within the legal framework of the United States.

Agree

The question answers itself. The Constitution is not based on any religion and is specifically forbidden to involve religion. That applies equally to all religious legal systems. The governing document is the Constitution. Full stop.

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

The gun show loophole is real. A private seller at a gun show can sell a firearm to anyone with no background check required. I wish I could call an 800 number and check if the person I’m going to sell a gun to is legit. That’s responsible ownership.
