OTHER INFORMATION

8th District Congressional Candidates John Bradford and Don Brown debate their different positions on a a federal "Heartbeat Bill" to protect life.

QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Human life deserves legal protection from conception until natural death.

Strongly Agree

Human life in the womb deserves the same constitutional protection, in every instance, as human life outside the womb. This means due process protection, as, per the 5th and 14th Amendments, no state or the United States, may deprive a person of life, liberty or property, without due process of law.

The lives of human embryos created through artificial methods ought to be protected from purposeful destruction.

Strongly Agree

Two key words in this question. (1) "lives" and (2) "human." Human life is precious, and to be treated as so.

Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?

Never as an "elective," if "elective" means what I think it might mean - like a flippant choice. If the mom's life is truly in danger, in an immediate sense, I don't consider that to be an abortion, because the doctor's primary intent is to save life, whereas the abortionist's intent is to end life.

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Disagree

First off, abortion constitututes the taking of human life, without due process of law, in violation of the Due Process clauses of the 5 and 14th Amendments. No practice that violates the United States Constitution should receive any public funds, whether federal, state or local.

The Comstock Act, which bans interstate transportation of abortion-inducing drugs, should be enforced.

Strongly Agree

See my comments above. Abortion constitututes the taking of human life, without due process of law, in violation of the Due Proess clauses of the 5 and 15th Amendments. The Constitution gives Congress the ability to regulate and promote interstate commerce (the Commerce Clause). Under the Commerce Clause, Congress absolutely should ban illegal activities that violate the Constitution.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Strongly Disagree

Such a heavy-handed approach violates the First Amendment Right of Freedom of Religion, and Freedom of Association. See, e.g., Masterpiece Cake Shop vs. Colordo Civil Rights Commission, and other cases. Such draconian requriments constitute a direct assault on our Constitution, specifically the Free Exercise Clause of the First Amendment and the right of Freedom of Association.

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

It means this and this only - That Jefferson wrote a letter to the Danbury Baptist Association, in response to a concern that Congress would make the Church of Engand the national religion of the United States... whereby Jefferson metaphorially assured the Baptists of a wall of separation between church and state - and here's the key -- TO KEEP THE STATE OUT OF THE AFFAIRS OF THE CHURCH. Amen. Not the other way around. The phrase itself is a mere constitutional fiction.

NATIONAL SECURITY

With regard to America's foreign policy, which view most closely resembles yours: A) The United States should intervene whenever freedom is threatened. B) The United States should selectively help countries trying to grow democracy and fight tyranny. C) The United States has become too involved in others' policies and should remain focused on issues regarding our own sovereignty unless in imminent danger. D) The United States should stay out of foreign conflicts completely.

Option C best reflects my views, with a sympathetic view to Option D. We cannot afford to remain the "policemen" of the world, and especially not with a dangerous, explosing national debt. Foreign military intervention should be considered under the criteria above, with imminent danger.. Here are my two main critera for miitary intervention. 1, Is the national Security of the United States immediately threatened? 2. Are American live overseas immediately in danger? Thus, my preference for Opt. C

The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.

Strongly Agree

The demcorats, and some one-world-order republicans too, put the Chinese military and economy on steroids by passage of (1) NAFTA, by (2) giving China Most Favored Nation Status, and (3) creation of the World Trade Organizaion, all which greatly benefited the CHICOMs. These actions were insane, and should be rolled back. Now, they have moved into the South China Sea, claim the Spratlys, and have over 100 more warships than the U.S. Navy, a reality that is unacceptable.

Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?

Yes, largely beause of (1) the symbiotic relationships between Christianity and our Jewish roots, with Jesus having been Jewish, and also because (2) Israel is a highly strategic, technologically and militarily advanced ally in a Middle East to help counter radical Islam and stand in the way of the re-establishment of an Islamic caliphate, which would be disastrous for the world. At the crossroads of the Middleast and the world, Israel poses as a deterrent to the re-establishement of a caliphate

Islamic terrorism is a threat to the United States' national security.

Strongly Agree

I know this threat well, and have often lectured on Sharia law, and its barbaric threat to our constituional republic. If elected, I will push for an end of legal immigration into the United States of people with Sharia backgrounds, as Sharia threatens our United States Constitution. Every on of the 9-11 hijackers were radical islamists. The individual who murdered Spc Sarah Beckstrom, was an Islamist from Afghanistan. Declare the Muslim Brotherhood & CCAIR to be foreigh terror organizations.

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.

C. And the only reason I choose C over D, is because Americans have been taxed all their lives for medicare, and deserve to have their money back. It's the peoples' money, not the government's money. The government shouldn't be able to take, take, and take, and not give the benefits back after taking... I would consider a proposal for American to "opt out" of Medicare and Medicaid, voluntarily, provided the government paid us back for all the money they've taken over the years for those.

The government should keep a database of people with various ongoing medical illnesses to assess the economic burden of treatment.

Strongly Disagree

This is a dangerous practice and a dangerous proposal. Government lists lead to tyrannnical practices. As the 4th Amendment says, "the right of the people to be secure, in their persons, houses, papers and effects, shall not be violated." This idea, of a governmental database, violates the letter and the spirit of the constitutional right to privacy.

ECONOMY

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

Yes, and the preservation of private property rights are an essential function of government at all levels under our Constitution. Again, under the 5th and 14th Amendments, no state, or the United States, "shall deprive a person of life, liberty or PROPERTY without due process of law. Locke, Blackstone and Adam Smith all influnced the founders in this regard, and we must embrace the essence of "pro-private property" in order to preserve our republic.

People who can afford to pay more taxes should do so in order to provide relief for working families.

Strongly Disagree

Thats forced socialism - legally robbing from those who work for a living to restribute to those who chose not to. Our tax system should not punish Americans for success.

The government should cut spending in order to reduce the national debt.

Strongly Agree

If you go to my website, policies section, you'll see that I've been promoting what I all a "Deep State Reduction Act, which calls for the elimination of at least 2/3 of all federal agencies, and for the reduction of 2/3 all all non-military federal personnel, and applying all that savings to the national debt, which is at a dangerous crossroads. https://www.donbrownfornc.com/blank

List your top 3-5 priorities to eliminate government waste.

See my Deep State Reduction Act. 1. Reduce at least 2/3 all all non-military federal personnel, and applying all that savings to the national debt. 2. Elimination of at least 2/3 of all federal agencies, and applying all that savings to the national debt. 3. Promote and a "Fraud, Waste and Abuse" Reporting System", giving government workers and opportunity to be rewarded for blowing the whistle on government waste, whereby the whistleblower could receive a percentage of the waste saved. G

IMMIGRATION

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

Immigration should be based first on the immediate needs of the nation, considering highly specialized skills from foreigners, that can help us but that won't supplant American jobs. Case in point, the German rocket scientists who came here at the end of WWII, and helped NASA develop the Saturn Rocket program. Block chain migration must end, and immigration from Sharia nations must largely end, except in certain extreme circumstances. Persecuted Christians should be given asylum preferences.

I support the existence of sanctuary cities to protect undocumented persons.

Strongly Disagree

These so-called "sanctuary cities" are built upon the premise that it's okay to blatantly violate federal immigration law. The brazenly barbor even dangerous illegals. Every dime of federal money could be cut from these cities. Democrat municipal officials who interfere with federal immigration law enforcment shoule be prosecuted.

EDUCATION

I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.

Strongly Agree

There is no constitutional role for the federal government to be involved in education, period. The North Carolina Constitution, however, does require the General Assembly to provide for a public education. Since the inception of the Dept. of Education in 1980, under Carter, the results have been disastrous. Not only have American test scores dropped, primarily against our Asian competitiors, but the Department has largely served as a repository for leftist indoctrination.

Foreign governments should be prohibited from funding American education.

Strongly Agree

Public education is a function of the North Carolina Constutition. lt is not a function of the federal government, nor is it authorized as a basic role or power of the federal government under the North Carolina Constitution. Under the 10th Amendment, that power reverts to the state. And certainly, American education should not be funded by foreign governments, as this is the functional equivalent of giving the fox the keys to the henhouse. The notion of this is foolish and crazy.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Government has a responsibility to protect children from sexual exploitation during online activities.

Strongly Agree

The government has a responsibility to protect children from sexual exploitation during online activities, and in all circumstannces.

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

Here's what the 2nd Amendment says. "The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be abridged." What is ambiguous about "shall not be abrided? l Responsible gun ownership actually protects public safety. See, e.g. Switzerland, with among the lowest murder rate in the world. Restrictions on gun ownership are largely unconstituional, and I oppose government imposed restrictions upon firearms ownership.

ABOUT YOU

Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.

No.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.

No.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Very Conservative

I will probably be the most conservative member of the United States Senate.

VALUES

Attempts to physically or socially transition a child to the opposite sex constitute child abuse.

Strongly Agree

Adults who force or encourage children to engage in sex changes or "transitioning" should be subject to felony prosecution. This philosophical garbage must be removed from schools all across America.

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.

Strongly Agree

The Bible is clear on this point.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

There is one God, and one mediator between God and man, the Man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for many- including me. All have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God. The heart is wicked above all things. Who can understand it? But God so loved the world, that he gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever would believe in him, would no perish, but have eternal life. I must decrease that He may increase. These verses from scripture constitute the core of my spiritial beliefs and values.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

Wake me up when the left says you don't need a photo to board a plane, or to enter secured areas, or to buy alcohol and tobacco. Photo ID should ALWAYS be required for voting, at the very least.

EQUALITY

Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.

Strongly Agree

Unbelievable that is even an issue for discussion, isn't it?

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?

In this order: Nuclear, followed by natural gas, followed by hydroelectric, followed by coal.
