QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?
Health of the mother, certain cases of rape and incest.
Chemical abortion drugs should meet essential safety standards (such as in-person consultation with a medical doctor) and require reporting to gather evidence on reactions and outcomes.
Agree
It needs to be treated like any other drug on the marketplace.
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Strongly Agree
Government should not spend taxpayer money on this.
I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Strongly Disagree
I am opposed to this.
ECONOMY
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
What is your position on the minimum wage?
Minimum is a word we should look at - it means a starting place or the bottom. Having a minimum wage can encourage teenagers to start a job and earn money. But it does not mean a living wage. People should start at the bottom and work up.
Should environmental and social issues, like ESG (environmental, social, and governance) ratings, be used as criteria in deciding where to invest public monies?
No
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Under what circumstances can government close churches?
If a church or religious building of some kind is plotting or calling for domestic terrorism, and the killing of Americans, it should certainly be considered but first going through the proper legal channels. Certainly not because of a virus going around.
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Strongly Disagree
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.
C - Medicaid and Medicare. When the Affordable Care Act went into place they failed to address costs and only addressed who was paying and how they would pay.
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
There are certain vaccines that have been very beneficial over the years, like the polio vaccine. I don't think that it is required, however, but I may be wrong on that. In general I don't think it should be required until proven effective.
NATIONAL SECURITY
The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.
Strongly Agree
Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?
Yes it is. We helped establish them in 1948 and they are our strongest ally. They are also the strongest democratic government in the Middle East.
IMMIGRATION
The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.
Strongly Agree
EDUCATION
The state should fund education by allowing dollars to follow the child through programs which protect parents' freedom to choose their child's school – public, private, or homeschool.
Agree
Agree, however much of my district is very rural and not properly funding public schools will adversely affect entire communities. We must be mindful of what we do and what the unintended consequences might be.
VALUES
Parents should have the right to make decisions for their minor children.
Strongly Agree
Taxpayer funds should be used to provide gender transition services.
Strongly Disagree
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.
Strongly Agree
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a believer in Christ as the Son of God and my savior. I believe in personal responsibility, individual freedom, the rule of law being applied with a blindfold. I am a capitalist who believes that government should set fair and equal rules, but not be allowed to pick winners and losers both in business and between human beings. I believe that God created us all, and Christ gave us 2 commands, to love God and to love each other. Sometimes that is hard to do, but by doing so, we will show Gods love of his creation.
Children are the most vulnerable members of society and must be protected from abuse, including gender ideology, grooming, and bodily mutilation.
Strongly Agree
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
States should join the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact which makes the Electoral College irrelevant.
Strongly Disagree
EQUALITY
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
Racism is wrong. We should oppose it in all of its forms. It can be a threat to our domestic security when various forms of racism compete, attack one another, and call each other names. Somehow we need to see each other as human beings and children of God, and not as white, brown, black or yellow. That is my hope.
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Strongly Disagree
History should be taught, all of it. There is greatness in our history and there is darkness. I do not believe that our institutions, which so many fought and died for are fundamentally racist however.
Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.
Strongly Agree
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Which comes closest to your view? (Select all that apply) A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost. C) Stricter environmental laws undermine U.S. energy independence and deter development of reliable electricity sources. D) Climate change is real and requires urgent policy action.
I come closest to A and C. There is certainly a place for regulation and without it, too many industries and corporations would take advantage, pollute our water and air, so yes we need it. But we need common sense in our regulators and our regulations. They seem to have more power and authority than legislators have given them, and that is just wrong.
What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?
Right now, oil and gas with nuclear being a strong second. I would really like to see a major push for more nuclear power plants with our newest technologies being implemented in them.
ABOUT YOU
Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.
No.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.
No.
What do you think is the general purpose of government?
The general purpose of our form of government is to establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense and promote the general welfare. That comes directly from the preamble to the Constitution. Like most things, the role of government has expanded tremendously, but in general that defines what it should do. Governments should set the rules for all and then apply them equally to all.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Conservative
Overall I am conservative, but also reasonable, approachable, and realistic. We didn't get into this mess overnight, and we won't get out of it overnight, but let's work together to move the needle as much as possible and not expect 100% change immediately.
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
Just like you aren't supposed to shout fire in a crowded theater, we should have restrictions on where guns can be carried and by whom. Convicted felons and illegal migrants should not be allowed to own and carry a gun. Youth should have restrictions. I don't think gun safety laws are a bad thing.
Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?
No
Maybe. They need to be trained, be expert, and have a place where the weapon can be locked yet be accessible. In my mind, I just don't know and would need a lot more information before making that decision.
OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES
I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.
Disagree
THC is much stronger now than 20 years ago. This isn't necessarily an addictive drug, unless someone has an addictive personality and then goes to the next level of drug. We need to support clear minds, great education and hard work - none of which goes along with recreational marijuana.
