RIGHT TO LIFE
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
I only agree with abortion should the mother's life be in jeopardy. At that moment, it's a lose/lose situation for the mother & baby. My catholic faith supports saving the life of the mother in that tragic moment.
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Strongly Agree
I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Strongly Disagree
ECONOMY
What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?
I believe that our tax code should be reviewed to make our state attractive to business recruitment & retention. I know many would like to see the state income tax structure go away. It's hard to say what changes you would make without a deeper understanding of the cause and effect of your decision. I am committed to gaining a deeper understanding of tax code reform and how it can make Louisiana a more attractive place to live. I believe in what other neighboring states have done with their tax codes, but how that applies to Louisiana and what changes need to be made for that to happen need to be discussed further. I am definitely open minded to learn more and help facilitate the change needed.
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
I know there this plenty of wasteful spending in government that needs to be addressed. As a first-time candidate and no prior experience in the legislature, I would approach it just like a business. Spend time learning and understanding the budget process and work to identify areas that are wasteful expenditures. I know there is more than meets the eye in Baton Rouge and where that reduced spending needs to be will only truly be identified once in office. It's no different than buying a business, all looks good on the outside, but when you take a deeper diver into the financials, that's when you really see what you are buying.
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Disagree
I disagree because college is not for everyone and many never finish. However, I completely understand that the only way to bridge the equity gap is through post-secondary education or technical training to fill a much-needed shortage in our workforce. There are barriers for many to obtain that post-secondary education or technical training. I'm in support of working through those barriers, without wasteful spending to achieve it.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Disagree
Under what circumstances can government close churches?
I am not in favor of government getting in the way of people's religious rights. As a Catholic, I would prefer that be a decision for the Diocese to make, not elected officials.
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.
C
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
I do not agree with circumstances that force people to be vaccinated without their willingness to do so.
NATIONAL SECURITY
I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.
Disagree
IMMIGRATION
The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.
Strongly Agree
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
I believe that there is a process to enter the U.S. legally and that process should be followed.
EDUCATION
I support school choice, including voucher programs, tax credits, charter schools, private schools, and home schools.
Strongly Agree
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Agree
I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.
Disagree
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.
Agree
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Disagree
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am very faith based and I have raised my kids in the Catholic faith. Our family understands the need to be grounded in our faith and God comes first. I want to serve my community and represent my community in the legislature, but I won't compromise who I am and my religious beliefs. Therefore, it is my faith that will keep me morally grounded while serving my community.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?
I support photo ID's to vote and validate who you are. The election process needs to be protected and cannot be compromised.
EQUALITY
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
As someone who is not racist and see's the individual for who they are, I could see how anyone who is racist could act out against another in violence. Unfortunately, society has moved in a direction away from being religiously involved and moral compass is not exactly as prevalent as I would like it to be.
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.
A
I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.
Agree
ABOUT YOU
What do you think is the general purpose of government?
The general purpose of government is to give the taxpayer the value they want. Government needs to use the taxpayer money wisely and produce value. As I speak to people on the campaign trail, the value they want centers around good schools and educational opportunities, good roads, bridges & infrastructure, safe communities and creating a business-friendly environment to help retain and attract a diverse group of industry. They also want government to step up when the state is in crisis. The insurance crisis Louisiana faces is a good example. They want to know people are working on solutions to the problem. After that, most want to be left alone.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Conservative
Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).
I'm a first-time candidate. Other than what is on my website and public comments I've made throughout this campaign: I have nothing to validate my answer. I believe I am a man of my word and what I say or post in my website is a direct reflection of me.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
NO
What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?
My priorities are centered around the values I mentioned previously. Taxpayers want value for their tax dollars. They want good schools and educational opportunities, they want good roads, bridges & infrastructure, they want safe communities, and they want business-friendly environment to help retain and attract a diverse group of industry to provide job opportunities. They want government to step up when the state is in crisis and work towards solutions to fix the issues, just like the insurance crisis Louisiana faces. I want to bring a commonsense business minded approach to the legislature. I want to focus on true issues that move Louisiana forward.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.
Agree
As long as an officer is acting legally within his or her requirements and there is no violation of a citizen's constitutional rights, they should not be targets for prosecution.
I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.
Strongly Disagree
I believe in community programs and mental health is an issue in our society, but I do not believe taking resources away from police departments that help provide safe communities is the answer. Most police departments operate on limited resources as it is. We need to make sure they have the resources to protect and serve.
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
I think that every gun owner needs to follow current laws to be able to own a firearm. I'm not for restrictions outside of the current laws.
Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.
Strongly Disagree
OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES
Gambling should be limited to existing forms and should not be de-regulated or expanded.
Agree
Children should be protected from sexualization on the internet, in public schools, and in the public libraries
Strongly Agree
