What is the function of the local school board?
The school board in collaboration with the superintendent, sets the vision and the goals for continuous improvement, and monitors progress toward said goals. The school board also has a fiduciary responsibility to the public to provide good stewardship of public funds, including approving and adhering to a budget and setting a tax rate.
Who should have the authority to set curriculum and determine resources used in those curricula?
Authority to set curriculum and determine resources used in those curricula rests with the school board with input from stakeholders taken into consideration.
When should parents be restricted from speaking in school board meetings?
Any parent who approaches a school board in good faith should never be restricted from speaking in said meetings.
Please list in order the following priorities in relation to the role of a K-12 public school (omitting any that do not apply): Mathematics, Information Technology, Science, Political Activism, Personal Finances, Gender Identity, Physical Fitness, American History, Critical Race Theory, Language Arts, Art & Music, Vocational Learning, Sexuality, Foreign Language, Social Emotional Learning

What does "equity in education" mean to you?
Equity in education means all students receive access to a quality education irrespective of skin color, ethnicity, or political identification.
Written parental consent (opt-in) must be obtained before students are taught courses such as Comprehensive Sex Ed (CSE) or Social Emotional Learning (SEL).

The loss of local control in education is too high a price to pay in exchange for federal dollars.

Strongly Agree
Who is responsible for teaching sexual education to children, and what is the appropriate age when it should be taught?
Parents are the primary providers for their children's education and upbringing. They decide when it is appropriate for their children to be introduced to matters regarding human sexuality.
If you support the teaching of Sex Ed, please answer the following question: Sexual education should include these topics (list all that apply and add your own, if needed) -- Physical and emotional health outcomes; contraceptive methods; consent; abstinence; sexual orientation and gender identity; human anatomy/the reproductive system; abortion methods and side effects; stages of pregnancy and fetal development; sex acts and pleasures of sex
If schools teach anything having to do with human anatomy the focus should be from the perspective of how the human body and its organs, cells, and biomolecules carry out chemical and physical functions within the ecosystem of the body, and offered to upper grades only, e.g. high school seniors.
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality that is necessary for our system of limited government.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
I am concerned citizen with a long history of service to the community. Running for school board, my first for public office, is another expression of my belief that those who have time and a skill should share both with the community because it is for those reasons we were granted such gifts.
I voted in these primaries and general elections:
2016 Republican Primary 2016 General Election 2018 General Election 2020 Republican Primary 2020 General Election 2022 Republican Primary 2022 General Election
In 2014 I was teaching in Qatar from where I voted by absentee ballot.
