QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

What role should the school serve in helping a student with an unwanted or crisis pregnancy?

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Teachers should be required to instruct students on mandated curriculum even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Strongly Disagree
ECONOMY
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

What is your position on government funding of public education from Pre-K through college?

EDUCATION
Abortion and gender-affirming providers, including Planned Parenthood, should be a resource for instruction or services in the school.
Choose not to answer
Consistent discipline creates a safe and orderly environment, which is essential for student learning.
Agree
Student safety and protection of the academic environment are keys to academic success. Schools need to be fair and consistent when addressing disruptive behavior in the classroom.
Educators should give students a thorough education in America's founding documents and cultivate American patriotism.
Agree
Curriculum is determined at the state level, and teachers should ensure they are covering the material as it is required by the state.
I support Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI).
Neutral
Everyone who works with children strives to create learning environments that are welcoming and supportive of all students. All 10 of our schools in the Sterling District are minority-majority schools with strong Latino and Asian populations. However, the seven schools in Sterling Park are all Title I schools and do not have equitable learning experiences. Subgroup data is particularly concerning as many of the subgroups are more than one year behind grade level.
I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.
Disagree
I agree that the DOE needs to be significantly scaled back, but I have serious concerns about the loss of support for our Title I students and schools, and the educators who work in these schools. The DOE needs to ensure that states have the staff, structure, and services to support our most vulnerable students before we eliminate the USDOE completely. At this time, Virginia does not have all of the structures in place to support this move.
Please list in order the following priorities in relation to the role of a K-12 public school (omitting any that do not apply): American History, Art & Music, Civics, Critical Race Theory, Foreign Language, Gender Identity, Information Technology, Language Arts, Mathematics, Personal Finances, Physical Fitness, Political Activism, Science, Sexuality, Social Emotional Learning, Vocational Learning
Equally I would list core content as: Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, American History, Civics, Physical Fitness. Additionally, I would strongly support courses/programs in the following areas: Personal Finances, Information Technology, Art & Music, Foreign Language, and Vocational Learning.
The state should fund education by allowing dollars to follow the child instead of the bureaucracy, through a program which allows parents the freedom to choose their child's school – public, private, or homeschool.
Agree
I am a huge advocate for public schools and all four of our children were in public schools. However, children in schools that are underperforming, or children that would thrive in alternatives to public education, need to have the ability to explore other alternatives including charter schools, homeschools, and private schools.
Which should students have: equity of outcomes or equality of opportunities?
Equality of opportunities and equality in access to quality education.
Which type of written parental consent should be obtained before students are taught courses such as Comprehensive Sex Education (CSE)? (A) Opt-In. (B) Opt-Out. (C) None.
Opt-in
2ND AMENDMENT

If you support the teaching of Sex Ed, please answer the following question: Sexual education should include these topics (list all that apply and add your own, if needed) -- abortion methods and side effects; abstinence; consent; contraceptive methods; human anatomy/the reproductive system; physical and emotional health outcomes; sex acts and pleasures of sex; sexual orientation and gender identity; stages of pregnancy and fetal development

Children have a right to reach maturity without chemical or surgical castration, which would damage their healthy bodies through surgeries and may cause a life-long dependence on cross-sex hormones.
Strongly Agree
Children have the right to be protected from sexual grooming (including drag shows and explicit materials) in schools and libraries.
Strongly Agree
I believe we should implement the FCC Rule- if it can't be shown on public television or read on public radio, our children should not be exposed to it in public schools.
