What is your position on government funding of public education from Pre-K through college?

I believe government funding of public education is critical to the ongoing success of our students and communities. By focusing on public education, our state and local governments are investing directly in the well-being of our community and state. It is critical that our state legislature focus on the benefits of a fully funded public school system, including funding for special education and bond calculations.

EDUCATION

What is the function of the local school board?

The school board serves as a bridge between the local community and the school district through their activities to adopt the annual budget, establish goals for the district, accepting views and input from community members and advocating for the needs of the students.

Who should have the authority to set curriculum and determine resources used in those curricula?

When should parents be restricted from speaking in school board meetings?

Meetings must have an agenda and timeline to flow to ensure Board matters can be addressed. The Board agenda should provide for time to hear from parents and community members; however, in the event parents become abusive with their comments restrictions should be implemented. Civility, even when disagreement exists, should be exhibited by both parents and Board members.

Please list in order the following priorities in relation to the role of a K-12 public school (omitting any that do not apply): Mathematics, Information Technology, Science, Political Activism, Personal Finances, Gender Identity, Physical Fitness, American History, Critical Race Theory, Language Arts, Art & Music, Vocational Learning, Sexuality, Foreign Language, Social Emotional Learning
