QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should be a resource for instruction or services in the school.

Strongly Disagree

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

ECONOMY

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

School districts should be able to use taxpayer money for lobbying the state legislature.

Strongly Disagree

What is your position on government funding of public education from Pre-K through college?

Education is supposed to equip a free citizen to be a productive member of his community and to provide oversight to necessary governmental functions. If government control of education is too great then government can begin to control the citizens to promote their power instead of the citizens controlling the government. We should try to free education from governmental ties for the sake of a free citizenry.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

At school, students should be able to speak freely and civilly about matters of conscience and faith, including Christianity.

Strongly Agree

We can and should teach the role the Bible has played in the development of our Western and American culture in history classes because it is very significant.

School districts should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Strongly Agree

Every child has some father and some mother, and the ideal situation is that the child be raised in a stable, responsible home by their own father and mother, and we should promote the success of this ideal.

EDUCATION

What is the function of the local school board?

The school board is to oversee the functioning of the school system so that it fulfills the objectives of the parents of its children and prepares the children in the school system for active, positive, productive American citizenship.

Who should have the authority to set curriculum and determine resources used in those curricula?

The parents through their representative school board and the school superintendent have authority to set curriculum and resource standards. We must ensure that parents are aware and involved in these decisions and that their desires are not being subverted by groups with other agendas.

When should parents be restricted from speaking in school board meetings?

Parents should be encouraged to speak and express themselves at school board meetings and all their concers should be addressed as much as possible: we are working for them to help their children receive an excellent education.

Please list in order the following priorities in relation to the role of a K-12 public school (omitting any that do not apply): Mathematics, Information Technology, Science, Political Activism, Personal Finances, Gender Identity, Physical Fitness, American History, Critical Race Theory, Language Arts, Art & Music, Vocational Learning, Sexuality, Foreign Language, Social Emotional Learning

English and language arts, mathematics, US history, Western history, World history, government and civics (local, state and federal, extra-national), science, physical fitness and health, personal finance, music, art, vocational learning, foreign language, domestic sciences, psychology and relationships, drama and public speaking. Information technology can be integrated into the curriculum as appropriate and can be offered with electives.

Which more closely matches your view of America's founding principles? A) Liberty and equality. B) Slavery and racism.

In a world where slavery has existed since antiquity, our forefathers founded a country conceived in liberty and dedicated to the proposition that all mankind are created equal with equal rights before the law that exists to protect those rights. The seed of freedom have been in the United States of America from the beginning and are continuing to bear the fruit of ever growing freedom and individuality as long as we protect the law that protects and promotes freedom.

What does "equity in education" mean to you?

Equity has come to mean equality of outcome. I believe in excellence in education: giving each child the best education possible to help each child become an independently productive adult American citizen, able to take an active, purposeful and productive role in society as befits their individual abilities and desires. Most people will choose to do this in families where the family members divide responsibilities based on the desired and natural division of labor, and we should try to help all students be prepared to successfully achieve this within their various communities.

Written parental consent (opt-in) must be obtained before students are taught courses such as Comprehensive Sex Ed (CSE) or Social Emotional Learning (SEL).

Strongly Agree

The loss of local control in education is too high a price to pay in exchange for federal dollars.

Strongly Agree

If we must forego federal dollars to achieve parental educational desires, then so be it.

Parents are the ultimate authority in their child’s education and should be able to freely pursue whatever educational options they deem best for their child.

Strongly Agree

School boards are accountable to parents and taxpayers.

Strongly Agree

Do you believe students should have access to materials that graphically depict and describe sexual acts?

No

All print and digital material available or presented to students should be easily accessible for public review.

Strongly Agree

Do you believe print and digital material available or presented to students should be easily accessible for public review, including those without children enrolled in school.

Yes

But of course there need to be copywrite protections of some kind, perhaps a signed confidentiality agreement, which doesn't mean not having access to material for the purpose of objecting to the school board and school administration regarding the curriculum.

VALUES

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a disciple of Jesus as discribed in the Bible, which is the sole and authoritative source of information for how to please God and enjoy eternal life with him through obedience to the gospel and walking in light of his Son being led by the Holy Spirit within me.

I support allowing public high school students to participate in athletic competition based on the gender with which they identify instead of biological sex.

Strongly Disagree

No school official should be involved in the sexual transitioning of a student, including the use of alternative names and pronouns.

Strongly Agree

No healthcare diagnosis or treatment, whether mental, reproductive, or otherwise, should be given to a child without first receiving written consent from the parent.

Strongly Agree

Who is responsible for teaching sexual education to children, and what is the appropriate age when it should be taught?

Only parents and their assigned representatives should provide their children sex education. They need to understand what is happening in their bodies as they approach puberty and how to properly deal with their feelings and emotions until they are prepared to be responsible for a family. We should strongly promote abstinence until marriage, which should come after high school. We should warn of the dangers of inappropriate sexual activity and provide plenty of positive alternative groups activities. We should promote positive, successful role models, like couples who have reached their 50th wedding anniversary, for instance.

If you support the teaching of Sex Ed, please answer the following question: Sexual education should include these topics (list all that apply and add your own, if needed) -- Physical and emotional health outcomes; contraceptive methods; consent; abstinence; sexual orientation and gender identity; human anatomy/the reproductive system; abortion methods and side effects; stages of pregnancy and fetal development; sex acts and pleasures of sex

We shoiuld promote the formation of families, stress responsibility, modesty, careful selection of potential marriage partners with parental input and counseling (preferably from a church), abstinence until marriage and the joys of marital faithfulness and family. There are health issues that need to be addressed as well and I think I covered those elsewhere.

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality that is necessary for our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

I support allowing public middle and high school students to participate in athletic competition based on the gender with which they identify instead of biological sex.

Strongly Disagree

Biological males should be allowed in female locker rooms and bathrooms.

Strongly Disagree

No school official should be involved in the social or medical transitioning of a student, including the use of alternative names and pronouns.

Strongly Agree
