QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should be a resource for instruction or services in the school.
Strongly Disagree
Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Strongly Agree
ECONOMY
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
School districts should be able to use taxpayer money for lobbying the state legislature.
Strongly Disagree
What is your position on government funding of public education from Pre-K through college?
Government funding (or, the ability to tax) is covered under Article I Section 8 of the US Constitution. Government funding for the military academies is clearly warranted. Funding is (or would be) warranted for certain technical programs necessary for national defense. Funding for other college programs and Pre-K programs could be considered warranted as it "provides for the common welfare" of the United States. However, I personally consider government funding of Pre-K programs to be a poor use of taxpayer dollars. My opinion is that K-12 public education is of benefit to the nation and a wise use of taxpayer dollars, but is not a constitutionally-enumerated right, nor should it be mandated, nor something citizens are unilaterally required to fund. Similarly, I believe that state-funded universities are also beneficial to the public good, but my opinion that publicly-funded, "free" college for individuals is not of benefit to the nation.
iVoterGuide Notes:
The candidate left a word out of her last sentence. The candidate asked that her corrected sentence be stated. “Similarly, I believe that state-funded universities are also beneficial to the public good, but my opinion is that publicly-funded, "free" college for individuals is not of benefit to the nation.”
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
At school, students should be able to speak freely and civilly about matters of conscience and faith, including Christianity.
Strongly Agree
School districts should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.
Strongly Agree
EDUCATION
What is the function of the local school board?
To provide an elected body to which the superintendent of the school district shall be accountable for the proper education of enrolled students and the management of district facilities and resources.
Who should have the authority to set curriculum and determine resources used in those curricula?
The local school board.
When should parents be restricted from speaking in school board meetings?
When/if they threaten physical violence or refuse to refrain from behavior that obstructs the progression of the meeting.
Please list in order the following priorities in relation to the role of a K-12 public school (omitting any that do not apply): Mathematics, Information Technology, Science, Political Activism, Personal Finances, Gender Identity, Physical Fitness, American History, Critical Race Theory, Language Arts, Art & Music, Vocational Learning, Sexuality, Foreign Language, Social Emotional Learning
Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and American History (equally important), Vocational Learning, Foreign Language (for college preparation), Art & Music, Informational Technology
Which more closely matches your view of America's founding principles? A) Liberty and equality. B) Slavery and racism.
A). Liberty and Equality
What does "equity in education" mean to you?
Equity in education means every U.S. citizen or legal resident shall have access to a K-12 education which offers the opportunity for students to meet the academic requirements for college or advanced vocational training. It does not mean "equal outcomes."
Written parental consent (opt-in) must be obtained before students are taught courses such as Comprehensive Sex Ed (CSE) or Social Emotional Learning (SEL).
Strongly Agree
The loss of local control in education is too high a price to pay in exchange for federal dollars.
Strongly Agree
Parents are the ultimate authority in their child’s education and should be able to freely pursue whatever educational options they deem best for their child.
Strongly Agree
School boards are accountable to parents and taxpayers.
Strongly Agree
Do you believe students should have access to materials that graphically depict and describe sexual acts?
No
Absolutely not.
All print and digital material available or presented to students should be easily accessible for public review.
Strongly Agree
Do you believe print and digital material available or presented to students should be easily accessible for public review, including those without children enrolled in school.
Yes
VALUES
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a Christian. I hold traditional conservative values and believe in the sanctity of human life at conception. I value integrity, honesty, service, humility and treating everyone with dignity and respect.
I support allowing public high school students to participate in athletic competition based on the gender with which they identify instead of biological sex.
Strongly Disagree
No school official should be involved in the sexual transitioning of a student, including the use of alternative names and pronouns.
Agree
Parents are in charge of their children. However, if they'd like school officials to use alternative names/pronouns for their child as part of a sexual transition, then parents must first make those name and gender changes on legal identification documents.
No healthcare diagnosis or treatment, whether mental, reproductive, or otherwise, should be given to a child without first receiving written consent from the parent.
Neutral
Except in cases of medical emergency, parents must first consent to evaluation and treatment. However, a diagnosis is made at the discretion of the healthcare provider and should not be subject to parental consent.
Who is responsible for teaching sexual education to children, and what is the appropriate age when it should be taught?
Parents are responsible for teaching content related to human sexuality (beyond basic biology). The appropriate age for doing so is child-specific and should be determined by the child's parent.
If you support the teaching of Sex Ed, please answer the following question: Sexual education should include these topics (list all that apply and add your own, if needed) -- Physical and emotional health outcomes; contraceptive methods; consent; abstinence; sexual orientation and gender identity; human anatomy/the reproductive system; abortion methods and side effects; stages of pregnancy and fetal development; sex acts and pleasures of sex
Human anatomy/the reproductive system, stages of pregancy and fetal development; ADD: aspects of epidemiology related to sexually transmitted infections.
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality that is necessary for our system of limited government.
Strongly Agree
Specifically, the belief in an all-powerful, single Creator God from whom comes objective moral truths rooted in the ideas that: life is precious, human beings are created in the image of God, have free will, and are granted by God the specific inalienable rights outlined in the Constitution.
I support allowing public middle and high school students to participate in athletic competition based on the gender with which they identify instead of biological sex.
Strongly Disagree
Biological males should be allowed in female locker rooms and bathrooms.
Strongly Disagree
No school official should be involved in the social or medical transitioning of a student, including the use of alternative names and pronouns.
Agree
Parents are in charge of their children. However, if they'd like school officials to use alternative names/pronouns for their child as part of a social or medical transition, then parents must first make those name/gender changes on legal identification documents.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Disagree
People should be able to vote ONLY after providing proof of their identity and eligiblity to vote. Photo identification is the most commonly accepted and accessible means for doing so.
ABOUT YOU
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No.
A candidate's personal moral values are relevant when considering a candidacy for elective office.
Strongly Agree
Reviewing a candidate's record of adherence to his or her personal moral values is an acceptable way for voters to predict his or her future ethical conduct as an elected official.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Very Conservative
I often lean toward libertarian values in matters relating to government. I hold very conservative views relating to most issues.
