QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should be a resource for instruction or services in the school.

Strongly Disagree

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

ECONOMY

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

School districts should be able to use taxpayer money for lobbying the state legislature.

Strongly Disagree

What is your position on government funding of public education from Pre-K through college?

I generally support the current public financing of schools for all children in our local community.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

At school, students should be able to speak freely and civilly about matters of conscience and faith, including Christianity.

Strongly Agree

School districts should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Strongly Agree

EDUCATION

What is the function of the local school board?

The role of the local school board is to work alongside the superintendent to establish a vision for the district. The board is responsible for approving/rejecting/suggesting policies and procedures to carry out the goals as needed. It also approves resources necessary to attain or work toward the goals. This could include examining curriculum committees, who is on the committee, i.e., are parents represented? Also approving curriculum or instructional programs recommended by the curriculum committees. Other examples include, resources such as personnel budget, textbooks, computers, etc. are all board-approved issues. There are other functions, but this highlights a few.

Who should have the authority to set curriculum and determine resources used in those curricula?

The school board members have the authority to approve or disapprove of the curriculum recommended by the curriculum committee.

When should parents be restricted from speaking in school board meetings?

Parents should be able to address the Board during the open forum at the Board Meetings. Once the business session of the meeting begins, it is appropriate for parents and patrons to remain respectfully quiet so the business portion of the meeting can be conducted.

Please list in order the following priorities in relation to the role of a K-12 public school (omitting any that do not apply): Mathematics, Information Technology, Science, Political Activism, Personal Finances, Gender Identity, Physical Fitness, American History, Critical Race Theory, Language Arts, Art & Music, Vocational Learning, Sexuality, Foreign Language, Social Emotional Learning

Reading, Writing (ELA), Mathematics, Science, History, IT, Foreign Language, Personal Finances (which I think is fantastic for every student to take before graduation), Physical Fitness, Art & Music, and Vocational Learning.

Which more closely matches your view of America's founding principles? A) Liberty and equality. B) Slavery and racism.

A) Liberty and equality

What does "equity in education" mean to you?

In my opinion, this is what it should mean. The Blue Valley School District should have high standards of excellence set for academics. Recognizing not every student learns at the same rate, there should be proven programs or assistance to help students who need a hand up. The district should always strive to help pull up the caboose, not slow everyone else down to the same pace as the caboose.

Written parental consent (opt-in) must be obtained before students are taught courses such as Comprehensive Sex Ed (CSE) or Social Emotional Learning (SEL).

Strongly Agree

The loss of local control in education is too high a price to pay in exchange for federal dollars.

Strongly Agree

Parents are the ultimate authority in their child’s education and should be able to freely pursue whatever educational options they deem best for their child.

Strongly Agree

School boards are accountable to parents and taxpayers.

Strongly Agree

Do you believe students should have access to materials that graphically depict and describe sexual acts?

No

This type of material is readily available outside of the school. There is no reason it should be available inside the school.

All print and digital material available or presented to students should be easily accessible for public review.

Strongly Agree

Total transparency.

Do you believe print and digital material available or presented to students should be easily accessible for public review, including those without children enrolled in school.

Yes

They are taxpayers too.

VALUES

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am an unapologetic follower of Jesus Christ. I believe God is my creator and gives me value and purpose. I believe God calls each of His children to know and love Him and to love their neighbor as themselves, yes, even those who don't agree with them.

I support allowing public high school students to participate in athletic competition based on the gender with which they identify instead of biological sex.

Strongly Disagree

I strongly support protecting female sports.

No school official should be involved in the sexual transitioning of a student, including the use of alternative names and pronouns.

Strongly Agree

These are conversations that should be reserved for the home, not the classroom.

No healthcare diagnosis or treatment, whether mental, reproductive, or otherwise, should be given to a child without first receiving written consent from the parent.

Strongly Agree

Who is responsible for teaching sexual education to children, and what is the appropriate age when it should be taught?

The child's parent or guardian is ultimately responsible when the parent/guardian believes the child is capable of understanding. Sadly, kids are learning it from peers in school or digital media which accelerates parents' need to consider having conversations earlier rather than later.

If you support the teaching of Sex Ed, please answer the following question: Sexual education should include these topics (list all that apply and add your own, if needed) -- Physical and emotional health outcomes; contraceptive methods; consent; abstinence; sexual orientation and gender identity; human anatomy/the reproductive system; abortion methods and side effects; stages of pregnancy and fetal development; sex acts and pleasures of sex

Knowing full well that there are absentee parents in many students' lives, I support the teaching of Sex Ed to include Human anatomy/the reproductive system, stages of pregnancy and fetal development, physical and emotional health, abstinence, and where students with lack of resources can obtain products needed such as feminine menstrual care and hygiene products.

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality that is necessary for our system of limited government.

Agree

I support allowing public middle and high school students to participate in athletic competition based on the gender with which they identify instead of biological sex.

Strongly Agree

iVoterGuide Notes:

The candidate requested to add the following statement. " I strongly disagree with any individual participating in an athletic competition based on the gender they identify instead of their biological sex. Fairness in competition and the safety of all student-athletes is my first priority."

Biological males should be allowed in female locker rooms and bathrooms.

Strongly Agree

iVoterGuide Notes:

The candidate requested to add the following statement. "I strongly disagree that a biological male should be allowed in female locker rooms or bathrooms. The safety of every student is my first priority. I have 2 daughters. Knowing there could be a fully, physically developed young man in the same bathroom or locker room as my daughters is completely unacceptable. This is common sense."

No school official should be involved in the social or medical transitioning of a student, including the use of alternative names and pronouns.

Strongly Agree

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

Individuals are required to have a photo ID to purchase cigarettes and alcohol. A photo ID required to vote keeps integrity in our elections.

ABOUT YOU

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No.

A candidate's personal moral values are relevant when considering a candidacy for elective office.

Agree

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

Common sense conservative.

Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).

I am a registered Republican.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

I am a parent, not a politician. I love my community and I value public school education for every student. We need strong leaders, not cheerleaders who are willing to make difficult decisions in difficult situations. I am a leader. It's not what I do, it's who I am. I am running for the Blue Valley School Board driven to return academic excellence, classroom excellence, operational excellence, and community excellence to Blue Valley! I ask for your vote on November 7th! Thank you!

I voted in these primaries and general elections:

2014 General Election 2016 General Election 2018 General Election 2020 Republican Primary 2020 General Election 2022 General Election

2ND AMENDMENT

Teachers who are licensed to carry should be allowed to carry guns at school.

Neutral

This question deserves a conversation. There are too many variables to say Agree or Disagree. Every community member is concerned with safety in our schools with the number of mass shootings we've witnessed in the news. We owe this question a conversation with each side present to respectfully discuss.

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

Under what circumstances (if any) should schools be allowed to require vaccinations?

I am not opposed to vaccines. I believe the chicken pox, measles, polio, etc. vaccines are a good thing. If this question is in regard to a mandatory Covid vaccine I am strongly against schools being allowed to require it. There are many circumstances that should be considered and a mandatory vaccine requirement is unconsitutional.

I support mask mandates.

Strongly Agree

A mandate is not a law.

iVoterGuide Notes:

The candidate requested to add the following statement. "I do not support mask mandates. We have learned a lot in 3 years. Requiring masks is not effective. If an individual feels wearing a mask is right for them, wear it. If an individual feels wearing a mask is not right for them, they should be free to make that choice as well."

All official open meetings should be live streamed, recorded, and have transcripts available online for public access.

Strongly Agree

Total transparency.

All votes should be roll call votes and recorded in meeting minutes.

Strongly Agree

Total transparency.
