I would like to take a look at the expense and see what the best most effective options are to meet needs without over allocating funds that are needed for our kids, teachers, classrooms, and schools.

What is your position on government funding of public education from Pre-K through college?

I believe increasing tax dollars to reduce the cost of college is not the answer to helping make college affordable for more students . Because our tax dollars do fund our k-12 schools I take seriously the responsibility of ensuring our dollars are spent wisely on students, teachers and schools .

At school, students should be able to speak freely and civilly about matters of conscience and faith, including Christianity.

What is the function of the local school board?

The main function being to establish vision and goals for their schools, To set standards for the performance of schools and the superintendent and to put plans into effect to see those goals and standards achieved and the vision met.

Who should have the authority to set curriculum and determine resources used in those curricula?

As members elected to represent the views, values, and priorities of their constituents for their school district, I believe it is the duty of the Board members, working closely and collaboratively with parents, teachers and experts, to ensure the best curriculum is chosen

When should parents be restricted from speaking in school board meetings?

I believe a parent should be asked to leave If the parents are threatening violence or harm, using profanity or otherwise inappropriate language/behavior or the like. But barring that I believe one of the main purposes of board meetings should be for the board to hear from the community.

What does "equity in education" mean to you?

As a mom of biracial children, I believe it is important for my kids to understand their race, gender, or background does not pre-determine their success or failure in education. We want our kids to understand they are not victims and they are capable of doing and achieving what the set their minds to do and want that same for all students; Not the Predetermining of “equitable outcomes” which in the long run I believe do more harm then good to a students growth and lasting success.

Written parental consent (opt-in) must be obtained before students are taught courses such as Comprehensive Sex Ed (CSE) or Social Emotional Learning (SEL).

This is the first I have run for office so I have not been interviewed or had media reports written on me at this time

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

I am a mom of 5 kids currently at every level in the Blue Valley schools , with my oldest graduating in 22’ from Blue Valley High. I am highly invested in seeing Blue Valley students and families succeed and flourish in the years to come!

2ND AMENDMENT

Teachers who are licensed to carry should be allowed to carry guns at school.

The safety of our kids is the highest priority. I believe our School Resource officers have done a great job at protecting our kids and I am thankful to have our schools partnering with them. I would like to look more into the stats and information available on schools who are allowing teachers to carry before I feel I could have a more informed conversation about the topic.
