OTHER INFORMATION

  • Regarding the October 7, 2023, Hamas attack on Israel:
    • “I am appalled by the barbaric and medieval Hamas attacks. Shooting civilians and kidnapping children are war crimes. Israel’s right to exist & defend itself should never be doubted and Iran-backed Hamas & Hezbollah cannot be allowed to prevail. I stand with Israel and the U.S. should too.” Source

  • From Vivek's "A Viable Realism and Revival Doctrine: Washington, Monroe, and Nixon equals America First."  "As U.S. president, I will respect and revive Nixon’s legacy by rejecting the bloodthirsty blather of the useful idiots who preach a no-win war in Ukraine that forces our two great power foes ever closer. The longer the war in Ukraine goes on, it becomes ever clearer that there is only one winner: China. I will lead America from moralism to realism by executing the inverse of what Nixon did in 1972: I will go to Moscow in 2025. I will deliver peace in Ukraine under the only terms that should matter to us—terms that put American interests first. The Biden administration has foolishly tried to get Xi to dump Putin. In reality, we should get Putin to dump Xi." Source

QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Did not answer

iVoterGuide Notes:

“My view, as someone who is running for U.S. president, responding to the question about the Supreme Court case, was that Roe v. Wade was correct to be turned on constitutional grounds. It was made-up jurisprudence … it leads also to the path to moving forward, which is, that I think the federal government should stay out of it. I think I’m the only Republican candidate in this field who has come out and said, ‘I would not support a federal abortion ban of any kind.’ On principled ground, because I am grounded in constitutional principles, and I think there’s no legal basis for the federal government to legislate. I’m personally a believer that unborn life is life. I think that the pro-life movement needs to walk the walk when it comes to being pro-life. What do I mean? I’m pro-contraception. I’m pro-adoption. I’m pro-child care. I’m pro-more responsibility for men.”

Chemical abortion drugs should meet essential safety standards (such as in-person consultation with a medical doctor) and require reporting to gather evidence on reactions and outcomes.

Did not answer

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Did not answer

iVoterGuide Notes:

"I do support ending federal funding for Planned Parenthood on a number of grounds … The federal government should not be spending money on funding its favorite pet causes.”

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

NATIONAL SECURITY

Aggressive authoritarian behavior against beleaguered democracies is a threat to U.S. national interests.

Did not answer

iVoterGuide Notes:

"Rather than spending billions projecting power into global vacuums where our allies will not spend to maintain it themselves, we will put America First again—as George Washington urged—as we recalibrate and consider our true interests."

The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.

Did not answer

iVoterGuide Notes:

“I think that we have to recognize that the real enemy we face today is the CCP (Chinese Communist Party); that is the real cold war of our century.”

What are the causes of decline in U.S. military recruitment and retention?

Did not answer

iVoterGuide Notes:

One reason in relation to our involvement with Ukraine:“We're depleting U.S. military resources to dangerously low levels that we need in other conflict situations.”

Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?

Did not answer

iVoterGuide Notes:

"I actually do think our relationship with Israel has advanced American interests. I come out on the side of that. Here's what I want to see happen, though. I want to negotiate – I'm a dealmaker, OK? I want to negotiate now Abraham Accords 2.0, get Saudi [Arabia], Oman, Qatar, Indonesia in there, get Israel on its own two feet, and I believe in standing by commitments that we've already made, so our commitments have, I think, $38 billion in aid, military support, etc., going in through 2028. I want to get Israel to the place where it is negotiated back into the infrastructure of the rest of the Middle East."

HEALTHCARE

The government should require everyone to obtain health insurance.

Did not answer

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.

Did not answer

iVoterGuide Notes:

“No cuts for seniors on Social Security or Medicare. We have to stand by the commitments we’ve already made as a basic backdrop of trust."

ECONOMY

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

Did not answer

iVoterGuide Notes:

"First, it will be a plan that reduces the size of the federal employee headcount by over 75% if I'm the next president, by the end of my first term, 50% of which is implementable by the end of year one."

Student loan forgiveness unfairly shifts the financial burden to those not responsible for student debt.

Did not answer

iVoterGuide Notes:

“Biden’s student loan forgiveness disaster is effectively a regressive tax disguised as a progressive policy. Barely over 1/3 Americans get a 4-year degree, yet Biden’s student loan forgiveness plan forces every citizen to pay for anti-American gender-studies majors. It’s a scam.”

The minimum wage in the United States should be $15-$18 dollars per hour.

IMMIGRATION

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Did not answer

iVoterGuide Notes:

"I think that building the wall is not and has not been enough. They are now building tunnels underneath that wall, literally underground tunnels that are being used to bring in illegal migrants and even to support human trafficking and drug trafficking. I would use our own military to secure our own southern border. I think that is legally, ethically and constitutionally justified. That is how we seal the southern border. In fact, I think it's going to be an approach that we will eventually need to seal our own northern border as well.”

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

Did not answer

iVoterGuide Notes:

1. “I favor ending birthright citizenship for the kids of illegal immigrants in this country. So nobody believes that the kid of a Mexican diplomat in this country enjoys birthright citizenship. Not a judge or legal scholar in this country will disagree with me on that,” Ramaswamy added. “Well, if the kid of a Mexican diplomat doesn’t enjoy birthright citizenship, then neither does the kid of an illegal immigrant who broke the law to come here.” Source
2. “The lottery system needs to be replaced by actual meritocratic admission. It’s a form of indentured servitude that only accrues to the benefit of the company that sponsored an H-1B immigrant. I’ll gut it. The people who come as family members are not the meritocratic immigrants who make skills-based contributions to this country.” Source

The executive branch should reinstate the "Remain in Mexico" policy which requires migrants seeking asylum to remain in Mexico until their court date.

Did not answer

iVoterGuide Notes:

“I think that ‘Remain in Mexico’ is absolutely essential to create the incentives for Mexico to take control of its own borders and its own sovereignty.”
