QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should be a resource for instruction or services in the school.

Disagree

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Agree

ECONOMY

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Agree

School districts should be able to use taxpayer money for lobbying the state legislature.

Disagree

What is your position on government funding of public education from Pre-K through college?

With government programs, come regulation with strings attached.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

At school, students should be able to speak freely and civilly about matters of conscience and faith, including Christianity.

Agree

School districts should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Agree

EDUCATION

What is the function of the local school board?

School Boards are the voice of the parents and community to the administration. School Boards develop the vision of the school district, determine and uphold the policy, set curriculum, determine the budget, and oversee the administrators.

Who should have the authority to set curriculum and determine resources used in those curricula?

The School Board weighs recommendations provided by the administrators to determine curriculum and allocate required resources.

When should parents be restricted from speaking in school board meetings?

Never

Please list in order the following priorities in relation to the role of a K-12 public school (omitting any that do not apply): Mathematics, Information Technology, Science, Political Activism, Personal Finances, Gender Identity, Physical Fitness, American History, Critical Race Theory, Language Arts, Art & Music, Vocational Learning, Sexuality, Foreign Language, Social Emotional Learning

As stated in the Texas Education Code: Reading and writing of the English language, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. Additionally, Personal Finance, American History (including the Constitution), Information technology, Physical Fitness, Fine Arts, Vocational / Trades, and Foreign Language.

Which more closely matches your view of America's founding principles? A) Liberty and equality. B) Slavery and racism.

A) Liberty and Equality.

What does "equity in education" mean to you?

I am a first generation college graduate from humble beginnings. I know that with sacrifice, hard work, determination, and perseverance, we can all obtain a quality academic experience. "Equity" refers to outcome, "Equality" refers to Opportunity. I believe we should all have the same opportunities.

Written parental consent (opt-in) must be obtained before students are taught courses such as Comprehensive Sex Ed (CSE) or Social Emotional Learning (SEL).

Agree

A full informed consent opt-in should be required. I don't believe sexual behaviors should be taught to students at academic centered entities. Full informed consent and opt-in should be required for SEL evaluations -which are psychiatric evaluations, creating permanent governmental records of our children.

The loss of local control in education is too high a price to pay in exchange for federal dollars.

Agree

Strings are attached to government programs.

Parents are the ultimate authority in their child’s education and should be able to freely pursue whatever educational options they deem best for their child.

Agree

"Parents will be full partners with educators in the education of their children", as stated in the Texas Education Code.

School boards are accountable to parents and taxpayers.

Agree

Do you believe students should have access to materials that graphically depict and describe sexual acts?

No

All print and digital material available or presented to students should be easily accessible for public review.

Agree

VALUES

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a Christian, baptized at fifteen years old. I have strong moral and family values. I believe that our children are entitled to an education free from interference from special interest groups.

I support allowing public high school students to participate in athletic competition based on the gender with which they identify instead of biological sex.

Disagree

No school official should be involved in the sexual transitioning of a student, including the use of alternative names and pronouns.

Agree

No healthcare diagnosis or treatment, whether mental, reproductive, or otherwise, should be given to a child without first receiving written consent from the parent.

Agree

Other than life saving interventions, no healthcare should be given to a child without full informed and written consent of the parent.

Who is responsible for teaching sexual education to children, and what is the appropriate age when it should be taught?

Reproductive Health should be taught in the schools by appropriate and trained science instructors as a part of the study of the Human Body Systems. Sexual behavior topics should be reserved for the families to teach via family values. Social behaviors should be taught at home by the family and reinforced in the schools per policy.

If you support the teaching of Sex Ed, please answer the following question: Sexual education should include these topics (list all that apply and add your own, if needed) -- Physical and emotional health outcomes; contraceptive methods; consent; abstinence; sexual orientation and gender identity; human anatomy/the reproductive system; abortion methods and side effects; stages of pregnancy and fetal development; sex acts and pleasures of sex

Human Anatomy, the Reproductive System, Stages of Pregnancy including fetal development should be included in Science Education. Sexual health and behaviors should be reserved for the family to manage.

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality that is necessary for our system of limited government.

Agree

Other religions have wonderful moral codes of conduct as well.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Disagree

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

A candidate's personal moral values are relevant when considering a candidacy for elective office.

Agree

Conservative

I have been vetted and unanimously endorsed by the Collin County Conservative Republicans.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

I am a first generation college graduate, I know the value of a quality education. I earned a second degree in Nursing so that I could serve my community as a Surgical/ Trauma ICU Nurse, and I'm not afraid of hard and difficult work. I love Frisco ISD, my two middle-school children love their school and teachers. As a district parent, I understand the concerns and challenges presented to us. I will refocus our students curriculum back on academics. I will support, honor, and protect our teachers. I will be the voice of the parents and the community to enhance transparency and integrity in Frisco ISD. Thank you for your support. Susan
