Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
Courtney Anderson is a Christian, Conservative, and mother of three that has served as an educator and leader across Houston. Born and raised in Spring Branch, Anderson has an instilled passion for giving back to the community. She attended the University of Texas at Austin where she developed her love for education, earning a Bachelor of Science in Applied Learning and Development. Upon graduating in 1998, Anderson became a special education teacher in Alief ISD and did so until becoming a stay-at-home mother in 2008. Both experiences have equipped her with the understanding that success in the classroom begins at home, meaning that it is paramount that parents be involved in every aspect of their child’s education. She believes that each child’s learning environment varies, making it unique. Collaboration with the parent is the only way to ensure that a positive learning environment is created for each child. Working with special needs students, Anderson saw first-hand just how unique each child is, motiving her to create innovative and meaningful lessons that positively affected each type of student. On top of leading in a classroom and in her home, she helped lead and develop Perrin Projects as a procurement process manager. Anderson has also served as the PTA President at 3 campuses across the district, the business representative for Memorial High School, and is a LeadSBISD Cohort 1 member. She is well-versed in district policy and will boldly lead while serving on the Spring Branch ISD School Board. She is currently on the Spring Branch Financial Advocacy Team. Recapture is another immediate crisis facing SBISD. Additionally, Anderson continues to advocate for the district on a state level. Anderson carries a well-equipped toolbox with her ability to listen, inspire, and lead. Her experience as an educator, mother, and leader in her field will help her tackle the ever-changing education system with ease while being able to relate to parents throughout the SBISD community. She believes that investing in the students of SBISD is investing in the future of the community, motivating her to focus on improving student outcomes, giving parents a voice in their child’s education, and removing the radical indoctrination the education system is succumbing to. Anderson lives in Houston with her husband, John, and their three children, Abby, Charlotte, and J.R.
