QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should be a resource for instruction or services in the school.
Neutral
Planned parenthood provides so many more services than abortion, it is sad that they get categorized as such. Their information for reproductive health, breast exams, and resources for low income are so important. With Texas law strictly limiting abortion currently, let us not cast aspersions on helpful resources. Having worked at a college in Dallas county as the campus nurse, these resources are so crucial for those that cannot afford healthcare, whether or not I fully agree with them.
Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Neutral
I am a trauma nurse. In my studies, I have first hand experience as well as reviewed so many cases that I simply cannot be the judge. I believe all cases should be thoroughly reviewed and determined by a multidisciplinary committee.
ECONOMY
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Agree
School districts should be able to use taxpayer money for lobbying the state legislature.
Strongly Disagree
Too many differing opinions- how could you represent everyone, yet financially back one side?
What is your position on government funding of public education from Pre-K through college?
Disagree with college. Not everyone chooses to go to college. Not everyone immediately chooses a trade. Some people are serial college students who cannot seem to pick a single course of study. While that can be a wonderful thing to always be learning, one has to be able to earn a living and be productive as well. Some may go into the military and choose that as a career path which follows a different funding path.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
At school, students should be able to speak freely and civilly about matters of conscience and faith, including Christianity.
Strongly Agree
Students should be able to speak freely, without being rude or crude. It promotes understanding and questioning to grow knowledge.
School districts should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.
Strongly Agree
Schools should not discriminate.
EDUCATION
What is the function of the local school board?
Formally, to hire the superintendent and to be the final decision makers for policy. They review the performance of the superintendent and are kept aware of school issues as well as solutions formed and implemented. Informally, they set the tone for the district.
Who should have the authority to set curriculum and determine resources used in those curricula?
I want to put the trust in teachers. The teachers are the experts. They are educated usually through master's preparation. They have yearly professional development required to maintain their licenses. There could be groups of teachers leading same courses across campuses that could agree on materials used. There should be effort made to avoid controversial topics, especially those that are inflammatory.
When should parents be restricted from speaking in school board meetings?
Parents should be restricted when they are being disruptive. Disruptive includes yelling, profanity, physical gesturing. It does not include quotations from material available in the schools.
Please list in order the following priorities in relation to the role of a K-12 public school (omitting any that do not apply): Mathematics, Information Technology, Science, Political Activism, Personal Finances, Gender Identity, Physical Fitness, American History, Critical Race Theory, Language Arts, Art & Music, Vocational Learning, Sexuality, Foreign Language, Social Emotional Learning
I'm partial to science since John teaches physics. I am also prone to picking academics first. Start with the basics: math, science, information tech, history, language arts. Next move to life skills: personal finances, arts & music, vocational (because not everyone chooses a vocation in high school), foreign language, and social emotional learning. Personal experiences including gender identity and sexuality are sometimes discovered and explored in school. It crosses into life events and choices outside of school settings. I did omit critical race theory. I understand it is highly controversial topic. Given that it's teaching is highly limited by Texas law, I cannot advocate for something that is illegal. For those that want to advocate for this change, it trickles down from state legislature, but is not a decision that can be made at a school level.
Which more closely matches your view of America's founding principles? A) Liberty and equality. B) Slavery and racism.
A. - the first voyages to America were in search of religious freedom and to escape persecution by the government. The Declaration of Independence is the list of grievances against the oppressive rules set forth by the reigning king of England and these 13 new colonies seeking liberty from them.
What does "equity in education" mean to you?
That every child has the same opportunities available to them. The child is only constrained through guardian choices or the child's limitations.
Written parental consent (opt-in) must be obtained before students are taught courses such as Comprehensive Sex Ed (CSE) or Social Emotional Learning (SEL).
Neutral
Comprehensive sex education should have a parental involvement component due to varying levels of beliefs and family values. Social emotional learning are important coping mechanisms, and identifying issues students experience. If there is a concern about SEL, it should be approached by the parents to the teacher and determined if what is being asked is inappropriate.
The loss of local control in education is too high a price to pay in exchange for federal dollars.
Strongly Agree
Parents are the ultimate authority in their child’s education and should be able to freely pursue whatever educational options they deem best for their child.
Strongly Agree
School boards are accountable to parents and taxpayers.
Strongly Agree
Do you believe students should have access to materials that graphically depict and describe sexual acts?
No
All print and digital material available or presented to students should be easily accessible for public review.
Strongly Agree
VALUES
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
Do what is right. Every individual is free to practice their religion in the manner of their choosing, so long as that expression does not impinge upon the rights or freedoms of others. We are all children of the same universe going through the ups and downs of life, which is all the more reason for compassion and understanding. Everyone's own journey is unique. My favorite expression is that the vast majority of people are going through an unseen battle you simply do not understand. Lend a listening ear. Extend understanding.
I support allowing public high school students to participate in athletic competition based on the gender with which they identify instead of biological sex.
Disagree
No school official should be involved in the sexual transitioning of a student, including the use of alternative names and pronouns.
Neutral
There is a leap between asking someone what they want to be called and hormone replacement therapy. Any student should be allowed to be called a name or nickname of their choosing as long as it isn't vulgar.
No healthcare diagnosis or treatment, whether mental, reproductive, or otherwise, should be given to a child without first receiving written consent from the parent.
Strongly Agree
Who is responsible for teaching sexual education to children, and what is the appropriate age when it should be taught?
It is ultimately the parent's responsibility. There should be resources available for parents that are unsure or uncomfortable with the content. Every step should involve parent input. Sex ed should start at age appropriate language/content starting with puberty teaching. As the child ages, the relevancy of the content should evolve as well.
If you support the teaching of Sex Ed, please answer the following question: Sexual education should include these topics (list all that apply and add your own, if needed) -- Physical and emotional health outcomes; contraceptive methods; consent; abstinence; sexual orientation and gender identity; human anatomy/the reproductive system; abortion methods and side effects; stages of pregnancy and fetal development; sex acts and pleasures of sex
I do not consider human anatomy and the reproductive system to be part of sexual education along with stages of pregnancy and fetal development. It is simply a type of biology. I do believe it is incredibly important for students that could make a decision to engage in intercourse to be informed of the consequences of their actions. Sex has consequences such as pregnancy, STD/STIs, pleasure/heartbreak. Before a student chooses to engage in such acts, they should be aware of the high emotional consequences, how the first time is an experience they will likely never forget. As for specific acts and positions, should be reserved for parental discussion or later level college courses that the student chooses and funds themselves.
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality that is necessary for our system of limited government.
Agree
In completely honesty, I do not completely understand the question. If referring to being honest in obligations and ethical, then yes.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Disagree
ABOUT YOU
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No
A candidate's personal moral values are relevant when considering a candidacy for elective office.
Agree
You should want to know what drives a person's decision making.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Lean Conservative

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
I am a mom of 4. I have two children in two different elementary schools. My oldest is in dual language. My husband is a high school teacher for Physics. He's been at Prosper High School and Rock Hill. I work as a trauma nurse at a large level 1 trauma hospital in Dallas. I work weekend nights to offset my husband's work schedule of Monday- Friday while being able to stay with our younger children. I volunteer in the community when I am able (and usually after school hours unless it's delivering baked goods). Given that my child was on the bus with Frank Paniagua, I am a big proponent for transparency, openness, and communication.
2ND AMENDMENT
Teachers who are licensed to carry should be allowed to carry guns at school.
Strongly Agree
OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES
Under what circumstances (if any) should schools be allowed to require vaccinations?
No. There are exceptions to many things. I cannot agree nor dictate someone with a legitimate allergy or sensitivity or religious issue to receive a vaccination or else you cannot be educated. Many people of the public inhabit the same space and you could never know if they are fully vaccinated or not.
I support mask mandates.
Disagree
All official open meetings should be live streamed, recorded, and have transcripts available online for public access.
Strongly Agree
Beyond live streaming, there are many times, people step away from the microphone or do not speak loud enough to be heard. They need to repeat or be mic'ed in a different way.
All votes should be roll call votes and recorded in meeting minutes.
Strongly Agree
I love this! There are some meetings where you do not hear trustees say a single word. They should have to stand behind their word.
