Public funding for Pre-K through 12 is the system that is designed to ensure all students have an opportunity for a good well-rounded education. Unfortunately, the "Robin Hood" funding system in Texas is unbalanced and should be corrected by the state legislature. "Property rich" school districts like GCISD are sending more and more money to the state ($62,000,000 this year) which is creating a surplus that is not coming back to the school districts for education funding. This must be corrected. At the same time the school districts are obligated to provide quality education to all students. Federal money usually come with requirements to meet federal guidelines that are typically political, and many times do not match the values of the local community. This is wrong.

I have taught hundreds of students at a premier engineering university and mentored them though graduate programs. I know what high school students need to know to be successful at universities.
