QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should be a resource for instruction or services in the school.

Disagree

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Agree

ECONOMY

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

School districts should be able to use taxpayer money for lobbying the state legislature.

Strongly Disagree

What is your position on government funding of public education from Pre-K through college?

I'm in favor of having public education available for K thru 12th grade and I am open to a debate regarding funds that follow the student, (school choice) especially in failing school districts. A problem could be created if there are no controls on the funds following the student where this might foster radicalization within segments of our society. For example, "'Blind sheikh' convicted in 1993 World Trade bombing" was radicalizing the youth in religious education. The last thing we need as a nation is to fund efforts that are used towards our demise. So, school choice is a dual edge sword where students can seek a better education if living in a poorly run school district, but we must be alert to these funds used by segments in our society that want to harm our country through radicalization in the schools (think of schools that might want to teach BLM, Antifa, or other destructive or violent ideologies). Regarding having a taxing authority for colleges much like we created for local K thru 12th grade, I am against that since I perceive those seeking higher education as needing both the god given talents along with the discipline to complete the coursework. I also perceive it’s unfair that people that go right to work out of high school should have to fund those that seek higher education that didn’t go right to work out of high school. People attending college must fund their own education. To that effort we need to limit the cost of higher education relative to the minimum wage so that average citizens can secure an advanced degree. For example, when I obtained my Chemical Engineering degree at a state school, I needed to work about 20hrs per week at minimum wage to pay for my college tuition. Today students need to work more than 40 hours per week at minimum wage to pay their tuition at a state school. It’s impossible for students to get a college education if not having others pay their tuition (GI Bill, Parents, Scholarships, Grants), or by borrowing the money (Student Loans).

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

At school, students should be able to speak freely and civilly about matters of conscience and faith, including Christianity.

Strongly Agree

School districts should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Strongly Agree

EDUCATION

What is the function of the local school board?

Oversight of Budget and Policy accountable to the voting public and the parents of students.

Who should have the authority to set curriculum and determine resources used in those curricula?

There should be a conversation between the voting public and the parents of the students as to the goals of education given limited resources. The Board is entrusted by the voting public and the parents of the students to implement those goals as best possible.

When should parents be restricted from speaking in school board meetings?

Only if parents are threatening violence towards others, doxing private information about minors, or exposing lewd remarks. Otherwise in the normal course of expressing grievances in a civil manor they should not be restricted.

Please list in order the following priorities in relation to the role of a K-12 public school (omitting any that do not apply): Mathematics, Information Technology, Science, Political Activism, Personal Finances, Gender Identity, Physical Fitness, American History, Critical Race Theory, Language Arts, Art & Music, Vocational Learning, Sexuality, Foreign Language, Social Emotional Learning

Language Arts, Mathematics, Physical Fitness, American History, Personal Finances, Vocational Learning or Information Technology or Science or Foreign Language or Art & Music.

Which more closely matches your view of America's founding principles? A) Liberty and equality. B) Slavery and racism.

A) Liberty and equality.

What does "equity in education" mean to you?

Any term or phrase that includes the word "Equity" seems to align with "Equal Outcomes" and wants to atone for some past misdeed at the expense of some other group that had nothing to do with the misdeed.

Written parental consent (opt-in) must be obtained before students are taught courses such as Comprehensive Sex Ed (CSE) or Social Emotional Learning (SEL).

Strongly Agree

Parents should have the control when and how such information is given knowing their child's maturity level and accordingly to one's faith.

The loss of local control in education is too high a price to pay in exchange for federal dollars.

Strongly Agree

Why is the Federal Government even in the education system? Education is not a Federal Constitutional responsibility.

Parents are the ultimate authority in their child’s education and should be able to freely pursue whatever educational options they deem best for their child.

Strongly Agree

School boards are accountable to parents and taxpayers.

Strongly Agree

Do you believe students should have access to materials that graphically depict and describe sexual acts?

No

All print and digital material available or presented to students should be easily accessible for public review.

Strongly Agree

VALUES

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I'm Catholic.

I support allowing public high school students to participate in athletic competition based on the gender with which they identify instead of biological sex.

Strongly Disagree

No school official should be involved in the sexual transitioning of a student, including the use of alternative names and pronouns.

Strongly Agree

No healthcare diagnosis or treatment, whether mental, reproductive, or otherwise, should be given to a child without first receiving written consent from the parent.

Strongly Agree

Who is responsible for teaching sexual education to children, and what is the appropriate age when it should be taught?

Parents decide what, when, where, and how.

If you support the teaching of Sex Ed, please answer the following question: Sexual education should include these topics (list all that apply and add your own, if needed) -- Physical and emotional health outcomes; contraceptive methods; consent; abstinence; sexual orientation and gender identity; human anatomy/the reproductive system; abortion methods and side effects; stages of pregnancy and fetal development; sex acts and pleasures of sex

Physical and emotional health outcomes, consent; abstinence, human anatomy/the reproductive system, stages of pregnancy and fetal development

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality that is necessary for our system of limited government.

Agree

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

ABOUT YOU

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No

A candidate's personal moral values are relevant when considering a candidacy for elective office.

Strongly Agree

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).

N/A

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

Oversight of Budget & Bonds- (Why Vote for Me!) After Income Taxes, School Taxes are Second Highest Taxes Texas Homeowners Pay. If elected, I'd vote to preserve CCISD's Homestead Tax Deduction unlike my Opponent. If elected, I'd ensure any bonds are used for the stated purpose (capital projects for school bldgs) versus cost shifting operating expenses to capital projects. Strengthen & Broaden Education for Students- (Why Vote for Me!) Begin with the End in Mind! Our school system must fully support all students no matter what journey or path they choose. If elected, I will keep CRT or any belief out of schools that undermines one group versus another. We want education not indoctrination. If elected, I'd align CCISD initiatives that establish paths that promote both, trade-schools as well as universities. If elected, I'd ensure that academic excellence is achieved and aligned for those attending trade-schools as well as those bound for university. Metrics & Transparency - (Why Vote for me!) If it is not measured, it is not understood! I am a skilled analyst very familiar with benchmarking performance within and outside an organization. I am independent of any influence from either the PTA, or having children presently in the schools system that could derive benefits as in grades from educators if pleased with the way I vote on issues, or possibly the converse. I have the ability and independent position to fairly assess if CCISD is achieving our community's goals.

2ND AMENDMENT

Teachers who are licensed to carry should be allowed to carry guns at school.

Strongly Agree

Depends on the school (the likelihood of a firearm being stolen) to determine the policy, along with the level of security staffing at the schools. The less or no police presence at the school, the more I am in favor of teachers having firearms providing they have the proper training. Licensed to carry alone may not be enough to ensure the safety of the school or students. (I'm a certified NRA Instructor for Rifle and Shotgun and a range safety officer. I do volunteer time to BSA.)

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

Under what circumstances (if any) should schools be allowed to require vaccinations?

No mandates for health and/or religious exemptions.

I support mask mandates.

Strongly Disagree

Masks don't do anything to protect against a virus and impede learning.

All official open meetings should be live streamed, recorded, and have transcripts available online for public access.

Strongly Agree

All votes should be roll call votes and recorded in meeting minutes.
