Organizations like Planned Parenthood provide a litany of services for people in need who would otherwise not receive help. These services, including abortion, should be considered a basic human right and funded by our government.

In keeping with the individual right to choose, people should be allowed to die with dignity and I believe in bodily autonomy.

Louisiana state sales tax should be eliminated permanently on basic needs (such as food, hygiene products, etc.) but seek to increase sales tax on luxury items. The present structure disproportionately targets the working class and low-income households.

Proper allocation of misused funds, the repeal of property tax exemptions on larger businesses and corporations, and implementing a wealth tax would actually increase our revenue versus just balancing. I wish to return to a more progressive tax rate that doesn't place the burden on low-income families.

Public education (from early childhood education through post-graduate school & including trade schools) should be free. Putting a price tag on education, limits our growth as a state and statistically only impacts low-income families.

Individuals and businesses are allowed by law to refuse services for legitimate reasons. They are not, however, allowed to discriminate based on race, religion, sex, nationality, etc. even if it goes against their moral and/or religious beliefs.

A government should be legally obligated to shut down a place of worship if they are promoting hateful or violent ideologies which could put citizens at risk.

"Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option." Healthcare is a human right and should be guaranteed without allowing CEOs to extract a profit out of funds that could otherwise be put toward providing quality healthcare to all.

A government, school, or employer should be allowed to require vaccinations under circumstances where the right to life and global health would be infringed upon. Should certain individuals refuse or be unable to consent to vaccinations for moral, religious or health reasons then those entities should have the individual autonomy to decide how they will handle these instances without repercussion.

Extremism of every stripe, be it islamic, white nationalist, or etc is a threat to our lives and national security. Local law enforcement must develop positive relationships within the communities they serve. Local government must work to provide the care and funding that a neighborhood needs. When a community feels safe in and proud of the area in which they live, they will act as their own form of security, If a community feels a connection with those who's job it is to keep them safe, they will happily work with police to eradicate extremism, which often fosters in plain sight and in public places - churches, schools, and public online forums. The cure for extremism is community building and healthy interpersonal connections. I plan to foster healthy and supported communities capable of self regulation and care.

Palestine has undergone nothing short of a cultural genocide. Israel has pushed into occupied territories again and again, and Palestinian homes and territories have been seized with ruthless indifference towards life and liberty. I hope for patience and understanding between Israeli and Palestinian leadership.

The U.S. should do more to MONITOR the southern border so that we know who (and what) is coming in, but individuals looking to come to America to work and ultimately become a citizen should be allowed due process.

In circumstances where individuals have a violent/criminal history or cannot pass a health screening then immigration should be regulated.

I do support what I believe to be school choice but there have been studies that show how it can increase income inequality. It's a multi-faceted issue. I support families being able to choose the best option for their children but I am pro-teacher unions and I do not support CEOs or religious leaders profiting off education systems under the guise of "school choice". This is something I plan to continue to learn about.

In the past, Judeo-Christian values were important for teaching people the importance of empathy and self sacrifice, I no longer perceive those values as necessarily coming from a Judeo-Christian place in our modern setting. I believe that humans have never been more interconnected as they are today by virtue of technologies and social media. It is through these mediums that people see and understand the ways in which we are all going through various forms of similar struggle.

Discrimination takes so many forms throughout time and history, and gender discrimination is one which I would seek to eliminate in any capacity that which I am able.

Human beings are social creatures and their desire for partnership transcends belief systems, legal systems, and gender roles. I would seek to lawfully protect any consenting adults who would wish to establish marriage as a form of partnership.

Much of the foundations upon which this country was built are racist. In order to repair and transcend the fault of our past, we must face them and make reparations. Ignoring or hiding from them only prolongs the social unrest which will be made manifest throughout the future of our countries existence.

While I feel that there are powers in this existence that are greater than us, I wouldn't claim to "know" them definitively in any way. I believe people can feel and communicate with these higher powers in a variety of ways and I support the protection of those rights. My spiritual journey is personal ever evolving.

People should have easier access to obtain photo identification. Then it would be no problem for many disadvantaged people to show their ID to vote. It would also be in our advantage to explore other identification options.

Racism is a threat to domestic security for everyone across the globe. Any extremist agenda which lays judgement upon another person based off of their innate characteristics is an evil agenda. It is responsible for the worst atrocities committed by our species throughout all of human history. Americans need to understand the darkest parts of our countries history so we don't repeat.

Reparations are an integral part of the healing our country must go through.

While stricter environmental regulations may negatively effect large business in the short term, but they would create more jobs in the long run as people grow to expand their understanding of green energy development and how it can best be utilized in the present and future.

Fracking is one of the most environmentally damaging practices we commit against ourselves and our planet. We poison the earth, air, and water through hydraulic fracking. I would push to end our reliance on fossil fuels in general, and move towards green energy as the future for Americans and all human beings.

While I do agree that officers shouldn't (necessarily) be prosecuted for conduct consistent with policy while on duty, there needs to be a massive policy review because many of these policies were created to target specific groups of people.

This is only one of many ways funds should be redirected but it's important to note that the redirection of funds should not come from individual officer pay.

There needs to be a combination of extended waiting periods along with mental health evaluations. Between these two things, gun violence would be greatly reduced.
