Justice Patricia Guerrero was appointed to the Supreme Court by Governor Newsom (D) in March 2022 and later nominated for Chief Justice by the governor. She was appointed to the San Diego Superior Court in 2013 and later appointed to the California Court of Appeals in 2017.


Notable cases:

Justice Guerrero wrote the majority opinion in Bolger v. Amazon.com, LCC. (2020) which is a Court of Appeals case that held (1) the doctrine of strict product liability applied Amazon and (2) that Amazon was not immune from liability because the item was purchased from a third-party seller through Amazon.com.
