QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Strongly Agree
There is no Constitutional responsibility for the federal government to support any of these organizations with taxpayer funds.
I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Neutral
Like the abortion issue, this is a states rights issue and should be addressed as such.
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
This is another issue that should not be decided by the federal government. Under our Federal system, this is a 10th Amendment responsibility and should be left to the decision of the citizens of the individual states.
ECONOMY
Redistribution of income is needed to lessen the gap between the wealthy and working classes.
Strongly Disagree
I do not believe the Federal Government has the responsibility or the authority to take from an individual they deem wealthy, including through their so-called "wealth taxes", and redistribute to another individual. Our system provides opportunities for everyone to reach their potential but, since we are not all equal, our level of success will not be the same and it is not the Federal Government's job to try and make it so.
The government should cut spending in order to reduce the national debt.
Strongly Agree
The Federal Government absolutely needs to cut its spending. The government is burdened by massive spending related to program, entitlements, grants, aid, inefficiency, and fraud that has brought the country to the point where we are over $30 Trillion in debt, nearly $100,000 per citizen. Spending money you do not have doesn't work for an individual or a business and it won't work for the Federal Government. https://www.usdebtclock.org
What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?
I believe the entire current system should be replaced with a flat, fair, or consumption type of tax system. A system that is as burdensome as our current tax system with rebates, incentives, credits, and countless regulations is far too complicated and expensive. A system that punishes anyone for becoming successful and yet rewards others because they were not, hardly seems "fair". We need a system that everyone contributes to. However, without fiscal responsibility from our Federal Government, no matter the form of the tax system, we will end up where we are now with massive spending, inflation, and debt!
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.
Strongly Agree
Religious liberty is one reason this nation was founded and the freedom to exercise that right is guaranteed in the first Amendment, and therefore should receive the highest level of protection from intrusion and interference form the Federal Government.
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Strongly Disagree
We have a free market and no person should be forced to violated personal / religious beliefs to provide a service. The free market will fill the void to provide the desired services.
What should be the relationship between the church and the state?
As long as the Federal Government is not forcing the establishment or interfering with the freedom to exercise religious practices, I see no issue with church and state relationships. Recognition is not establishment. If there are situations where religious organizations can be effective partners to the Federal Government, they should have an equal opportunity as any secular organization would.
HEALTHCARE
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
The distinction must be made between a vaccine which is supposed to provide immunity and a new and untested therapeutic. In either case, however, I don't see any circumstance where Americans should be required to receive any shot they are opposed to.
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.
D. Government programs like Medicaid and Medicare do not provide complete coverage and still require participants to purchase additional insurance to fill the gaps in coverage or to be nearly broke to obtain the coverage from a program they paid into the during their working career. While there is no doubt that healthcare is expensive, we need to look at the factors (i.e. malpractice costs, uninsured patients, fraud) driving the costs and work towards innovative solutions that do not involve further government intervention.
NATIONAL SECURITY
With regard to America's foreign policy, which view most closely resembles yours: A) The United States should intervene whenever freedom is threatened. B) The United States should selectively help countries trying to grow democracy and fight tyranny. C) The United States has become too involved in others' policies and should remain focused on issues regarding our own sovereignty unless in imminent danger. D) The United States should stay out of foreign conflicts completely.
C. The United States has gotten involved in too many conflicts that did not have direct impact on the nation, and today we find ourselves working to secure another nations sovereignty while failing to secure our own border.
I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.
Neutral
The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.
Strongly Agree
While the threat of the increased military build up is real, cyber security, theft of intellectual property and economic strength pose a bigger threat. The continued outsourcing of manufacturing including antibiotics to China has the potential to be a more immediate threat. The United States must maintain a strong manufacturing base to ensure national security, reduce dependency, and minimize the trade imbalance.
What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?
The biggest help would be to actually admit that Islamic terrorism exists.
IMMIGRATION
The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.
Strongly Agree
The current administration's failure to fulfill its Constitutional duty and secure the southern border has lead to millions of illegal aliens entering the United States placing a strain on Border Protection Services and putting the officers at risk while straining local resources and threatening the safety of residents. The open border policy has allowed the cartels to funnels massive amount of drugs into the country that have lead to the death of nearly 100,000 America in the last year.
State and federal funds shall be denied to any public or private entity, such as a sanctuary city, that is not in compliance with immigration laws.
Strongly Agree
Immigration is a constitutional responsibility of the Federal Government alone and not something states or cities have any authority to subvert. Recently, localities that have virtue signaled about being "sanctuary cities" have begged for FEMA and National Guard assistance to deal with an influx of only a few hundred illegal aliens while states at the southern border have had to deal with thousands on a daily basis. These sanctuary practices should not be rewarded and funds should be withheld.
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
Immigration should be a merit based system similar to other countries including Canada, the UK, Australia, and New Zealand. Merit based systems help to ensure immigration of the best and brightest individuals. Those seeking asylum must apply from their home countries to allow for proper vetting.
VALUES
Sexual orientation and gender identity should be protected classes in non-discrimination laws.
Neutral
The country has anti-discrimination laws and while we should continue to strive to treat everyone equally, we cannot continue to keep creating protected classes. The more we create special groups of Americans, the more we divide ourselves,
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Strongly Disagree
No country is without flaws and while the United States has its own past, I do not believe the country and its institutions are fundamentally racist.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I was raised Catholic and continue to embrace those values in my personal life.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
The right to vote is one of the most important and consequential activities an American can perform effecting everything from tax rates to the election of public officials. Most daily activities including purchasing alcohol, renting a car/hotel, opening a bank account or even getting a Post Office box require ID, yet some refuse to see the importance of photo identification when voting.
What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?
The only change would be to advocate for photo ID but, the manner in which elections are conducted is a state responsibility. We need to avoid Federal bureaucrats from who wish to take national control of our elections or eliminate the Electoral College.
EQUALITY
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
Strongly Disagree
I do not support reparations of any kind. I do not believe it serves to solve anything and is just another source of racial division.
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
No. While there will always be individuals who dislike others based on race, most Americans don't see each other by race and want to live their lives in peace.
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.
Agree
Improvements in the process in collaboration with the EPA and Department of Energy produce more energy while protecting the environment and drinking water.
Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.
A We all want a clean environment but, quite often the economic impact or unintended consequences of these regulations are not thoroughly vetted in favor of an agenda. A prime example is the push for EV's. While the idea of an emission free vehicle sounds appealing, the reality is that they not without environmental impact. The rare earth material for the batteries must be mined (often from countries that are not friendly to the US), processed, and manufactured into batteries, processes that all impact the environment. Additionally, there are concerns about where the batteries are produced and the potential for the use of child labor in the manufacturing, where the energy is produced to charge the batteries, and what will be the process of disposal for spent batteries. A clean environment benefits everyone but, laws and regulations cannot be driven by ideology without concern for the economic impact. As technology evolves and solutions become available, all effected parties must be involved in determining proper laws and regulations.
ABOUT YOU
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Very Conservative
I am conservative in all issues and believe that the Constitution should be followed as written.
Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).
Until making the decision to run for office in 2022, I have never been involved in politics or had any social media presence. As a result, there are no public interviews or media reports to validate my position. The best method to validate my conservative values would be to ask anyone who knows me or, better yet, ask me.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No.
What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?
My priorities are an America first policy. The Federal Government cannot continue to spend money it does not have to benefit other countries when we have homeless Americans, an open border, and a political class that has spent the country into massive debt. I'm an advocate for smaller, accountable government that learns to live within its means. I also believe that all Federal legislative bills need to be available for public review and should be limited in scope and size so that the officials signing the bills actually read them. I am also a strong advocate for States rights, including calling for a Convention of States, terms limits, ending earmarks, a balanced Federal budget, and the protection of our Second Amendment rights.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.
Strongly Agree
Police officers are placed in split second, life and death situations and rely on training to resolve the situation while ensuring their own safety, This is often a thankless duty and when acting within regulations, they should be protected by immunity.
I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.
Strongly Disagree
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
The exact number of gun laws or regulation when considering local, state, and federal is estimated by multiple organizations to be between 3000 and 20,000, The addition of another law or regulation is not the answer. A firearm is a tool and cannot do any harm without the actions of a human. No number of laws will be able to predict if an individual will snap due to internal or external issues. The implementation of background checks are only as effective as the honesty of the individual completing the forms and the systems that validate the information. Individuals who have falsified the background checks have been able to obtain firearms along with individuals who passed the background check and later committed weapons crimes. Instead of vilifying legal gun owners, when firearms laws are broken the individual must be punished. Additionally, when it comes to youth gun violence, we need to determine why this has become so prevalent, why do today's youth have such low regard for human life and what issues are leading to the gun violence. Criminals by nature do not obey the law, so penalizing law abiding gun owners for the actions of individuals is not the answer.
Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.
Strongly Disagree
I do not support any attempt to allow anyone to sue a firearms dealer or manufacture for the actions of an individual. This standard is not applied to victims of other crimes; if an individual drives drunk and injures or kills someone, we do not sue the car or alcohol manufacturer. Instead, the individual is held responsible. A firearm should be treated no different.
