QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

Abortion is a healthcare decision which should be made by a woman in consultation with her doctor. Because privacy is guaranteed by the Arizona constitution, the state should have no laws determining when or if a woman should or should not have an abortion.

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Disagree

Abortion, also known as a D & C, is a medical procedure used to save the lives of women from a variety of pregnancy complications. When a complication of pregnancy requires a procedure, that should be paid for those who demonstrate financial need.

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Agree

Arizona needs to look at this carefully because many seniors here would like the option so they don't suffer horribly at the end of their lives.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Strongly Agree

America is a country where we can disagree but we can not discriminate.

Under what circumstances can government close churches?

Abuse of congregants, by the top pastor, of a physical, mental or emotional nature should be grounds for closing an individual church

NATIONAL SECURITY

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?

Work with moderate Imams to encourage acceptance of all religions, including opposing sects of Islam.

I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.

Strongly Agree

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.

Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by government with no private healthcare option. Every developed nation in the world has universal healthcare except the U.S. The only reason healthcare remains for-profit in this country is that insurance and pharmaceutical companies spend millions lobbying to keep making millions. We could save a huge amount of money and provide good care for all if we went to a single-payer system

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

Healthcare is a privacy issue.

ECONOMY

What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?

Millionaires and Billionaires should pay their fair share.

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

Prison spending.

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Neutral

Students who excel academically and who demonstrate financial need should receive assistance to attend state universities so we keep those great brains in our great state.

IMMIGRATION

The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.

Disagree

"Physically" securing the southern boarder interferes with wild animal migration and disrupts stream flows. A better solution is state-of-the-art surveillance technology so law enforcement can go where they are needed.

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

We need to update our immigration laws to allow the workers that we need to come here legally. There is a worker shortage and food rotting in fields. Restaurants are closer due to inability to hire people. Our economy needs workers to continue to prosper. Workers with no criminal history should be given work visas and encouraged to stay if they can maintain employment (not at a single employer, but at the employers of their choice) for a set period of time, like 8 to 10 years.

EDUCATION

I support school choice, including voucher programs, tax credits, charter schools, private schools, and home schools.

Strongly Disagree

We need accountability for any state funded school. Public schools all have testing and receive grades. Private schools and home schools should submit to testing for real accountability if they want to receive state funding. Vouchers aren't really helping poor parents send their children to private schools; they can't afford the difference between the voucher money and the rest of the tuition. Vouchers are really a subsidy for the wealthy who already send their children to private schools.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.

Did not answer

I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Strongly Disagree

The values of Buddhism and Islam are very similar. Judeo-Christian values don't have a monopoly on values like human rights, individual freedom, privacy, honoring all families,

I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.

Strongly Agree

The statement should be, "I support adding gender identity

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition

Strongly Disagree

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Choose not to answer

CRT is a boogeyman which is being used to manipulate people to be angry at teachers. Elementary and high school teachers do not teach CRT. It is only taught in Law school and graduate school. The theory is that race has played a critical role int he development of the United States of American. I can not disagree with that theory.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

Since the U.S. is not a theocracy and I honor the separation of church and state, I do not feel this is an appropriate question to ask on a candidate survey.
