QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Under what circumstances should elective abortions be allowed?

I do not believe elective abortions should ever be allowed. I believe life begins at conception and all life is created in the image of God. In Tarrant County, I intend to bring together churches, local government, and non-profits to help in providing accessible and quality prenatal care and assistance with the foster and adoption process, if needed.

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, county or local governments.

Strongly Agree

I support laws which allow a municipality to enact a Sanctuary City for the Unborn ordinance.

Strongly Agree

Human life deserves legal protection from conception until natural death.

Strongly Agree

ECONOMY

I support using taxpayer funds to lobby the state legislature and/or U.S. Congress.

Strongly Disagree

Using taxpayer money to lobby for more government spending and higher taxes is unethical. I will work to eliminate taxpayer-funded lobbying in Tarrant County. These dollars are often used to promote policies or ideas that are in direct opposition to the best interests of Tarrant County taxpayers. Your tax dollars should not be used to hire expensive Austin or Washington lobbyists to help push political and bureaucratic pet projects, growing the size of government at every level.

It is the responsibility of county government to provide subsidized housing at taxpayer expense.

Strongly Disagree

Taxpayer-funded incentives, such as property tax abatements and taxpayer-backed loans for private development, are both legally and morally justified.

Choose not to answer

Property taxes are far too high and should be radically reduced or abolished.

Strongly Agree

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Under what circumstances can government close churches?

Government should never close churches. I have publicly proclaimed I will never shut down churches or businesses.

Individuals, organizations and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their civil rights and/or religious freedom.

Strongly Disagree

HEALTHCARE

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

Vaccinations have been used as effective tools to combat dangerous and life-threatening diseases such as Polio and should be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. However, I am opposed to the use of mandates for experimental or emergency-use-authorization only vaccinations.

Taxpayer-funded healthcare is a fundamental right for all Americans.

Strongly Disagree

IMMIGRATION

I support 287(g) agreements between the Sheriff's Office and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to identify jailed criminals who are in the United States illegally.

Strongly Agree

As a City Councilmember, I spearheaded the effort to bring this program into Farmers Branch. We were the first governmental entity in Texas to implement such a program.

County officials should have the right to proclaim their county a sanctuary county for illegal aliens.

Strongly Disagree

VALUES

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God and have accepted Him as my Lord and Savior. My faith is fundamental to who I am as a person, a father, a husband, and a community leader.

A county jail inmate should be housed based on the inmate's preferred gender identity and not on the inmate's biological sex.

Strongly Disagree

Socialism oppresses individual rights and is incompatible with the truths upon which America was founded.

Strongly Agree

Gender ideology should be taught and promoted in our county's public schools and juvenile justice programs.

Strongly Disagree

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

Campaign finance reports filed by candidates for a county office should be available for public online access on the county elections website within 24 hours of filing deadline.

Strongly Agree

Ballot measures which include bond issues should fully disclose both the potential tax rate increase and actual monetary increase for the average single family residence.

Strongly Agree

Expanding voting rights by allowing people to vote without photo identification is more important than requiring photo identification to discourage voter fraud.

Strongly Disagree

What is your understanding of, and position on, Ranked Choice Voting (RCV).

This ill-conceived method of voting is contrary to the structure on which our nation was founded.

EQUALITY

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) instruction should be required for all county employees.

Strongly Disagree

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Taxpayers should subsidize green initiatives such as electric vehicle charging stations and infrastructure for solar and wind-generated electricity.

Strongly Disagree

ABOUT YOU

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

There is a crisis of leadership in this country. We need strong leaders who don't make decisions based on their next election or what the media will or won't do to them. We need people who understand efficiency and don't waste taxpayer dollars. And we need people in office who will be strong on law enforcement to keep criminals off our streets. I'm committed to working hard for Tarrant County to ensure it remains the best place to live, work, and raise a family in Texas.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to immigration and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Very Conservative

Please list your business investments and/or real estate, specifying any holdings currently proposed for eminent domain.

We own a home and a commercial office building. Through investments, we hold multiple interests in real estate, none of which are involved with government contracts.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Requiring bail reflects systemic racism.

Strongly Disagree

I support redirecting funds from the Sheriff's Office and District Attorney's Office to mental health and community programs.

Strongly Disagree

What crimes should not be prosecuted?

I believe in law and order. For truth to be preserved, justice must be carried out.

2ND AMENDMENT

In the effort to balance protecting public safety with the right to bear arms, what restrictions on gun ownership should be removed or expanded?

We must uphold the Constitution, including the right for individuals to defend themselves and their families. We must also protect our most vulnerable, school children, which is why I support police officers or armed security and enhanced training efforts in our schools.

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

I support mask mandates.

Strongly Disagree

Any emergency executive order (EO) should be subject to review and override by the County Commissioners Court in a special meeting called no later than 14 days following issue of the EO.

Agree

I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.

Strongly Disagree

LOCAL

Please list up to six issues or projects that you think need the most attention, in priority order.

1) Reduce property taxes 2) Strengthen law enforcement efforts 3) Eliminate wasteful spending 4) Increase transparency and accessibility in local government 5) Identify and eliminate fraud and abuse in local government 6) Promote high quality economic development and job opportunities

I support annual financial audits of every county department by an independent, third party auditor.

Agree

What salary changes do you support for elected officials on the county payroll?

Recently, Tarrant County proposed a 7% pay increase for elected officials. I do not support this effort, and believe it is the last thing we should be doing when inflation is at record highs and so many taxpayers are struggling to pay their bills and keep food on the table.

What is your position on the revenue neutral property tax rate?

Property taxes are way too high in Tarrant County. I will lead the effort for significant tax reductions- not just by reducing the tax rates, but by actually delivering real reductions to the amount businesses and homeowners pay- offering real and significant relief taxpayers need and deserve. I believe we can cut taxes to a rate below the revenue neutral rate.
