QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
I am personally pro-life, and only support abortion to save the life of the mother. However, I would support abortion, if it would allow doctors to opt out of performing abortions as a matter of conscience, and if it would allow pregnancy crisis centers that do not offer abortion services to remain in business.
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Strongly Agree
I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Strongly Disagree
I do support “living will,” and people to have “do not resuscitate” orders
ECONOMY
What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?
I support a flat income tax.
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
I would look at all areas of the state budget, if it was required to balance the budget.
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Disagree
I tend not to support government financing college education. It is one of the reasons why the cost of a college degree has risen higher than the rate of inflation.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Disagree
Under what circumstances can government close churches?
I do not see any reason why government can close a church. Many churches, during the pandemic, broadcast online through social media platforms. To close a church completely, in my opinion, would violate the First Amendment.
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.
I tend to favor keeping Medicare and Medicaid, but would look to find ways to eliminate barriers to affordable healthcare. Government regulations sometimes stifle competition and cause prices to rise.
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
I wouldn’t require vaccinations, but schools can require parents to leave their kids at home during an outbreak.
NATIONAL SECURITY
What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?
The United States should look at deterring any threat. I think the problem we have is the government tends to create policies that puts the country, and that of our allies in greater danger. We need to step back and ask the question, “Is this policy good in the long term.”
I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.
Neutral
Unfortunately, I think BDS is counterproductive. The nation of Israel doesn’t care about our opinion on its treatment of Palestinians.
IMMIGRATION
The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.
Neutral
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
I support a Ellis Island 2.0 approach. We check those entering the United States for a criminal record and for communicable diseases. If someone enters the US, and has Covid, for example, we quarantine him or her. If they have a serious criminal record, we deport them. If you pass a health check and criminal records check, we let you in, you get a work visa, and no welfare benefits.
EDUCATION
I support school choice, including voucher programs, tax credits, charter schools, private schools, and home schools.
Strongly Agree
I tend to support school choice. I believe the money spent on education should follow the student.
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Neutral
I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.
Choose not to answer
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition
Neutral
I think government needs to get out of marriage, completely. Marriage was decided by religious institutions, before government became involved, and government did not improve marriage.
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Strongly Disagree
I tend to disagree with that statement.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I’m an Eastern Orthodox convert.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Neutral
I tend to support voter ID laws, as long as people have access to obtain photo IDs.
What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?
I would look at what is preventing eligible voters from voting, and look at finding was to make it easier, while reducing potential fraud, at the same time.
EQUALITY
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
The United States, while it has its flaws, has tried more than any other country to improve race relations. No, I don’t see racism as a threat to domestic security.
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
Strongly Disagree
I tend not to support reparations, because there is no way to find out who would qualify and who wouldn’t.
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.
I tend to believe that some environmental policies hurt economic growth, and do very little at saving the environment.
I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.
Neutral
ABOUT YOU
What do you think is the general purpose of government?
The purpose of government is to ensure peoples rights are protected, as they were written in the US Constitution, and the Bill of Rights.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Lean Conservative
I’m a Libertarian.
Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).
I’m a registered Libertarian and I filed as a Libertarian candidate.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No.
What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?
I am a military veteran, a strong defender of the Bill of Rights, including the 2nd Amendment. I also tend not to support the use of eminent domain by private entities.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.
Disagree
I tend to think “Qualified Immunity” should be limited. A police officer should be entitled to “Qualified Immunity,” if their actions would be viewed as reasonable by most people. However, not everyone should be a police officer, and police departments should be able to fire police officers that are a danger to themselves, their fellow officers, or members of the community that they are sworn to defend. If a police officer has committed a serious infraction, they should be criminal liable.
I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.
Neutral
Mental health should be reformed, but it doesn’t necessarily have to come out of the police budget.
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
None
Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.
Disagree
I tend to support suing the perpetrators of violent crime.
